Slim Thug Dropped From Interscope?

It looks likes its curtains for Slim Thug over at Interscope Records.

Was he let go or did Interscope cut him loose?

Slim explained the separation saying:

"'Really, I just sat down and told them, 'Y'all over here don't understand the type of music I do and y'all hold me back while y'all trying to get your situation together. I ain't really got that time to sit on the sideline while you do this. Let me pay y'all. Y'all gave me all this money. Listen, I'll give y'all some money off the new album.' I just can't sit on the sideline while they do their sh--. He sat down with [Interscope Chairman] Jimmy [Iovine], and we all came up with something we could all agree with. It ain't no hard feelings.'" Source

Now we all know that artists lie [I mean Akon has done it, and Bobby Valentino has also fibbed about his departure from Def Jam/DTP] SOHH I'm not sure if I buy that "I walked away story". But whateva.

I hear Slim is currently working on the Boss Hogg Outlawz second release to be followed late in the summer by his solo album Boss Of All Bosses that will include more focus on Houston. Um, maybe Slim Thug hasn't gotten the memo, but isn't the Houston rap scene over? I'm just sayin..

  • I believe Thugga. He puts it down on 'Theme Song' and lets these cats know that the record industry isn't even how you get money, it gets you exposure. If you already get money then you don't need Interscope as much as they need you. Texas is the size of most foreign countries. He can sip lean and tour Texas for 6 months straight and get more skrill off of that than on a major label.

    He was making more money without having the deal. With him just being in Houston and selling hundreds of thousands of cds throught the south was enough. They tried to commercialize him and it didn't work so maybe he had the smarts to get off by himself. He's had the smarts this long to make money on his own.

  • Bobby Wilson was dropped by Def Jam afer the boss saw a show-case in NY. He was truly dreadful, as usual.
    Wilson can't play a musical instrument and even stole his stage name from a very talented singer, songwriter and violinist who's been around for 30 years (1st touring the USA in 1978 as part of the Fabulous Poodles). Wilson doesn't write songs, if you check out the credits he gets between 5% and 10% of the royalties - this means he was in the room when it was written or has claimed a writing credit for saying the name of a talented musician all through his recordings.
