Yesterday I was SOHH busy reporting on Whitney, Ray J and Foxy that this rumor seemed to slip through the cracks.

What's this I'm hearing about Kanye & Alexis calling it quits?

AOL Black Voices columnist Jawn Murray sent me over an email breaking down the rumor goods. Here's what he had to say:


Sources close to the hip-hop star tell me that it was West who ended the engagement after revealing to Phifer: "I just don't think it is going to work out anymore."

The 30-year-old entertainer even asked for his ring back!

The often-controversial rapper/producer got engaged to Phifer while overseas in the fall of 2006.Source

I cant say that I surprised one bit by this news. I personally never believed that they were a couple. To me it just seemed too convenient that Kanye hooked up with this chick the minute the gay rumors started to get out of control.

Please note, I am not calling Kanye a homo all I am saying is that it all just seemed a tad bit suspect. There has been no word yet from either camps SOHH let's see what happens.

One of my favorite bloggers, Clay Cane did a post that I found interesting. Isn't it scary how an artist will emerge on the scene rocking their strong ethnic features, yet as time goes on those features tend to become more, and more downplayed in an attempt for them to become more mainstream?

Just days after Amy's record label reportedly issued her an ultimatum -- give up the drugs ore never record another album -- the troubled soul singer from across the pond was recently videotaped smoking a blunt in plain site. She also is seen arguing with a friend yelling out all kind of obscenities.

Hey, at least its not crack this time. If that Kush is the only thing she's smoking these days then I'm cool with that. Just drop that second album.
