Did Fantasia Close Down Broadway's "The Color Purple"??

Did Fantasia close down the widely successful Broadway adaptation, "The Color Purple"?
That's what I'm hearing. Apparently after two years, and over 910 regular performances, the show will close on Sunday, February 24. But from what I'm hearing the reason why the show won't go on is all because of Fantasia Barino. While the show grossed over one hundred million dollars in it's two year stint it seems the the show experienced a surge of ticket sales/losses when Fantasia signed on to play the well-known character of Celie. Most of the shows ticket losses were due to Fannny canceling over 50 performances. For those of you who've never been to a Broadway show, when the star is a no show the ticket holder is entitled to a complete refund if they don't care to see the understudy.
Though the American Idol winner gave the production team hell during her time on Broadway - ticket sales experienced a huge drop once it was announced that Fantasia would be leaving the show after almost a year. So after much deliberation the powers that B just decided to end its run and send it out on a national tour.
I can't say that I blame them. I've seen the show with and without the screaming songstress and I have to admit that I don't want to see it again if Fanny isn't apart if it. For those of you who missed it. Just check out this performance:

Well considering that the show had only grossed 60 million PRIOR to Fantasia joining an had been in production for well over a year in a half and received MIXED reviews. With the addition of Fantasia it made over 40 million dollars in just the nine months that she was part of the production and received acrossed the board rave reviews. If the show is closing it isn't closing because Fantasia didin't make them any money, she damn near beat their one and a half year total in only 9 months. It's because the show isn't as good and isn't making the mooney without her. I'm not surprised that it is closing.
NOW PLEASE START ON THE MOVIE SO THE HATERS CAN SEE THAT MAGICAL PERFORMANCE and hear even more about it.

I have never hated anyone as much as I hate you, referring to the owner of this particular site. You don't like Fantasia so do us a favor and don't write about her anymore. What an asshole you are. Get your facts straight. She was not fired, she did not miss 50 shows (by the way LaChanze missed over 40 shows and broadway did not shut down) and she did not shut down The Color Purple. The facts asshole is that she was only contracted for 6 months. She was so good they contracted with her for an additional 3 months for a total of 9 months. She missed a few shows but was on more than off which is evident by the box office sales. By the producers of Color Purple's own admission the show was slipping in sales in popularity before Fantasia was asked to join the cast. Fantasia was not fired she chose to end her run. Get the facts asshole. Get the facts. Advance sales or tickets before she even stepped on the stage was about 6 million dollars. Fantasia helped that show. If in fact the show is bowing it is simply time for it to close. Don't hate on her. She is a wonderful person who deserves so much better than assholes writing about stuff they have no idea what they are talking about. I wish I had not clicked on here. Well, i saw the show in Chicago and Ms. Fantasia was not in it. I actually thought the woman that they had to replace her did very well. I think them saying Fantasia is the reason they are closing is just an excuse to throw "blame" for sales at someone besides themselves and the actually production. WAMP WAMP WAMP....Skeetz, u get an F for failure once again. We see the disclaimer on the bottom of your blog, which basically says "I don't know wtf i'm talkin about'. But u look like an idiot when ur reporting on 'rumors' that have already been proven or disproven.
Did any of you even see the show with the current cast? Chaka Kahn, Bebe Winans, and Zonya Love are fantastic. The show is as good now as it has ever been. Why would they close a show within a month and a half of a new cast? Maybe this cast just agreed to do a month and a half to close out the show.

Why not try and READ for once? Fantasia brought over 34 million dollars to the production. AFTER she left on January 6th, the 3 people that were brought in just to balance out her star power(Chaka, Bebe, Lakisha) couldn't get tickets sold, so the show is closing. Not because of Fantasia's absences (she only missed 24 shows, not 50) it's because people stopped coming to the show once she left. She was so great in the role, Oprah wants her to be Celie in the Movie Musical version she is producing.
