50 and LL Team Up Against Def Jam

Looks like 50 and LL are the newest Rap tag team. They both have issues with Def Jam and aren't afraid to speak on it in public. Supposedly, they took several shots at the label during the VMAs off camera while talking to the media outlets. My sources tell me neither even spoke to Hov that night or attended the party Jigga threw for Beyonce after the show. When media folks try to ask Def Jam wassup -- those folks don't even want to comment on the situaton at hand. Did LL hit a sore spot?

According to MTV News, LL called out Def Jam -- probably taking serious aim at Hov too -- about their lack of promo skills:

New York's Daily News reported Friday (September 1) that LL was heard taking Def Jam President/ CEO Jay-Z to task during the VMAs. "I think Def Jam needs to be a better promoter of hip-hop," the rapper reportedly griped. "I think Jay-Z does a very good job ... of promoting Jay-Z."

Of course we all know by now that 50 is producing LL's next album and it seems like 50 wasted no time joining in the convo about Def Jam. He and LL told everybody who would listen on the red carpet and parties that Def Jam wasn't sh*t. The pair have already banged out six songs for the new LP in just four days. MTV is also reporting:

He [LL] said the company's music "gotta be a lot better." He also said that Def Jam has a fairly new staff that is running things differently from the old regime, and singled out the promotion department.

Now I don't know where 50's beef/isssues with Def Jam stem from other than that man just loves to talk sh*t. But this mess right here is unlike LL. Did somebody piss him off to salty proportions over at Def Jam? Or is he just fed up with the way things are running these days seeing that he's been with the label from the jump? I guess time will tell....
