I know, I know. This ain't no Throwback!

Very true. But you know what? I'm sitting here staring at my copy of Ray J's new album (which I got pro-bono, I didn't actually go out and cop it) and I thought to myself: for every album this dude comes out with, only like, ONE of the songs is a guaranteed club banger/ballad/hit. That's gotta be a major bruise for someone who they originally asked, "wait a minute, ain't that Brandy's brother?"

Speaking of which, I thought that for today we'd take it back to the time when Ray was trying to prove how "hardore" he was by giving the newly-came-of-age tool to Lil' Kim. Groan.
I think he was more believable playing "D-Money" on Moesha.

Of course we do, Phareezy, g-ddamnit! Y'all are pratically repeating the same damn thing for 3 minutes! (and if you'll notice, "Sexy Can I" is almost no different)

One thing I have to say is that Lil' Kim's weave actually looks cute in this video. I take that back. Lil' Kim's hair looks on point when she's rocking the ear-length blonde cut, not that nasty ponytail she's rockin' in the red room, looking like the Mrs. Robinson of the ghetto (The Graduate, anyone?)

Now, I can't front... I used to bump this joint a few years ago (although it wasn't saying ANYTHING-- that was back in my less enlightened days) but in reality, this video reminds me of some dude taping his first night in the club when he turned 21. You know what I'm talking about. The n*gga's mad eager, trying to pop bottles like he got it... little does he know that if you're a lady, you're not checking for him, you're checking for the laid back dude in the corner 'cuz the real bad boys move in silence... but that's me going off... anyway...

I think the saddest thing about this song/video is that Ray could easily be replaced with Omarion or Marques Houston and no one would miss him.
But you know what? Only Ray J could rebound every 3-4 years with only one chart-worthy single and we'll embrace him like the sh*t didn't even happen. We did it with this joint, we did it with "One Wish", we're doing it now with "Sexy Can I", and we'll damn sure do it again in another 4 years.

Or, he could spend the rest of his life making money off of that sex tape.
Whether he chooses to do, more power to him.
