Tha Gecko Brothas-- "Harlem's Finest", + Lupe Fiasco-- "Paris, Tokyo"

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, it's Monday. Time to stiffen that upper lip and face the day.
But while you're plotting the death of the idiot in the cube next to you (or, say, that Economics professor who just won't shut the f*ck up this morning), don't fret. This morning I've got some good videos for your viewing pleasure this morning. So rest your "smack-a-b*tch" hand and check these out.

First, I want y'all to check this performance of Tha Gecko Brothas' performing at The Pyradmid/E.O.W. on March 30th. Straight up, I've listened to their album, From Dusk Til' Dawn, and so far I have to say that that the entire album is dope. Whether you rep the Golden Age Era of Hip-Hop, came out of the 90's scene, OR are a bigger fan of the today's Hip-Hop climate, you won't find fault with this album. I don't know what it is about Priest Forever and John O.'s chemistry, but their double entendres and rhyme schemes are on point. But like I ALWAYS SAY, don't take my word for it.

In this video below, Tha Geckos Brothas are performing a track off of their album entitled, "Harlem's Finest", which they did as a nod to the Biggie and Jay classic, while paying homage to their uptown roots. Don't get it twisted, I'm a Broooklynite by blood, but after listening to this, even I had to say, "Harlem, stand up!"
(yeah, yeah, I'll admit it, ha ha)

For more info on how you can cop the album and preview some more tracks, visit myspace.com/thegeckobrothas (I recommend "Harlem Ta Hollywood" and "New York Minute", my two faves)

Wow.
Okay, so I haven't completely co-signed Lupe Fiasco bandwagon, but once again, I can't deny this dude his props.

I'm deinitely feeling the "let's-get-away" vibe of "Paris, Tokyo" and the cinematography of the video is excellent (I love the desert scene, but for some reason I kept thinking about this joke I heard about when Jay and Bee "have their baby", they're gonna have to move to Saudi Arabia...ANYWAY). If you're feeling the urge to escape for a lil' bit, Lupe gives heads a "Calgon moment" with this one.

I ain't mad at him trading the backpack to get his dapper on... go 'head, Lu! Did y'all peep him using my borrowed Kojak catchphrase? Who loves ya, baby? ;)

Here's a challenge: Can y'all name all the spots he mentioned (and alluded to) in the video?

Aight y'all, I'm out for today!
