Midweek Madness: Soulja Boy Explains His Alleged "50 Cent is Old School" Comment, And DMX In New *ahem* Acting Role

Posted on April 2, 2008 9:00 AM

Wassup y’all–

I wasn’t going to blog this interview, but someone left an interestig comment on the Snoop Dogg post yesterday about the whole "Old School vs. New School" argument that’s beaten TO DEATH on this site, SOHH I thought it would be interesting to see what y’all thought of this Soulja Boy interview with Tim Westwood when he discusses rappers he grew up listening to.

Although I don’t think Soulja Boy is the most eloquent of the bunch, I will give him the benefit of the doubt with this one. I know what he meant by that. But, at the same time, was there no one around him who attempted to put him up on the Golden Age Era of Hip-Hop? Sheeeit, even Puff made those misfits in Da Band learn the words to "Rapper's Delight."

To tell you the truth, it could've been worse... he could've called Jay-z a Hip-Hop Pioneer...

So.... I know at least a third of you out there want to know what DMX has been up to lately, right? (Aside from accusing women of raping him)

I peeped this on my boy Fiyah’s blog, so I thought I’d share this with you.
This is Earl Simmons in his role as the Assassin With Tourette's in the upcoming flick Last Hour :

"SONOFABYTCH!!!"

DMX. Should. STOP IT.

Ugghh. This is enough for today. I think I'm actually starting to miss Gotti's Way .

  • Soulja Boy get respect from me for being a hustler, that nigga got a grind that alot of these cats need to look at and learn from. He may not be the best rapper but he dont pretent to be either, he just do him and it works. I repsect that.

And DMX is my nigga, but this movie look lame as hell. Never Die Alone was my shit though, it was his best movie imo.

  • I hate soujah boy music but if dude is like 18 this means he was like 6 back in 1996. lol how the hell do you dummies ask was there someone around to let him listen to the golden age. get real. like somebody gonna really let their 5-10 yr old really listen to that. im sure he knows who biggie and tupac is but he has come up in a whole other era of music. we should feel priveleged to have been old enough to have listened to that music when it came out between 1992-1999. Its not for everybody so lets stop trying to force it on people. Nobody was forcing krs one or rakim on me when I was listening to nas, pac, biggie, ghetto boys or kast which is why I grew to love them. lets let these new kids have that same freedom.
