Throwback Thursdays: 5 0'Clock In The Morning, Where YOU Gonna Be?!

So it's the last Thursday of Women's Herstory Month... damn, this month went fast. To wrap up the Femcee Throwback Thursdays, I thought I'd choose a clip from a female who got some mainstream buzz (albeit not as much as her contemporaries), but when talking about classic femcee joints, I'm pretty sure this joint rings a bell to many.
This video first premiered during the days when I heavily indulged in The Negro Channel. I didn't know much about Nonchalant when it came out, but I was transfixed by this video and her raw, intense lyrics, warning young Black brothers of the dangers of hugging the block. Plus, you couldn't help shouting that response chorus, "OUTSIDE ON THE CORNER!"
For me, it was like TLC's "Waterfalls"-- MINUS the sugar coating, but extra on the smooth, yet gritty flow.
How many of y'all were feeling Nonchalant when this came out? I know I was. You couldn't place her in a box, she wasn't the ultra-sexy rapper, nor was she trying to murder anybody, she was just simply telling it like it was, and for that, she gets nuff respect.
This is to my D.C. cats on the board: Is Nonchalant still on the scene down there? Last I heard, she was an on-air personality at one of your radio stations. Is she still doing that?
Get at me about any info y'all may have on her, as well as how y'all feel about the video. I know some of you may not have dug the last two Throwbacks I chose (Queen Latifah's "U.N.I.T.Y." and Da Brat's "Give It 2 You") but I know y'all can't hate on this one.

I was staying in maryland when this came out! I had to be like 12 or 13 but this was da joint for me and my big brother back then. I remember that chorus like yesterday!

No disrespect but the only reason this song was anything was because she had a positive message(which is a very good thing).Alot of people got tried of this song because they played every 2 minutes just becasue it was supposed to be like the DC anthem or something,this song was basic didn't open any doors for us in the music business.Like my man above said check Wale, and the Oy Boyz DC bout to get it poppin in the rap game real soon. Since every R&B cat from here forget that they are from here once they get on.
I didn't remember this song until the chorus. I don't remember ever seeing the video. I miss the days when rappers used to actually tell stories rather then brag on every track of every album.
