Wassup y'all--
As I stated last week, since this is Women's Herstory month, I decided that for the entire month, all of the Throwbacks would be some of the more memorable videos from femcees.
With that being said, I think today's choice is quite approriate.
::Doin the "Da Brat Swerve":: Word Up, hey, Word Up, hey...
I *LOVE* MC Lyte's attitudy "Well, good morning to you too, boo!"
I know there are rumors about JD actually writing ALL of Brat's stuff at the beginning but you know what? Eff that. I think she wrote it, and it's always a banger.
What did y'all think of this video when it came out?
I remember it was the FIRST time I'd saw Brat, before she started appearing on Nickelodeon's "All That" like, every week (90's kids/teens know what I'm talkin' about!). At first glance, I didn't know what to make of her. Here was this chick who appeared to be extremly gangsta with her badass creme leather jacket. She softened the look twists and makeup but at the same time was on some "step up, step up, and I'ma buss yo' lip!". I immediately decided she was fly. I wanted to rock those twists, too; man, they were dope!
And you want to know something? Brat's swagger was just as in full effect then as it is now, albeit with a few actual pistol-whippings and harrassment of her co-stars on reality tv....
Sidebar: Look at JD gettin' his lil' skiny drummer boy vibe on! Aight then!
This video falls into what I like to call, "The Classic Party Videos of The '90's", the most exemplary of this time period being Notorious B.I.G.'s "One More Chance". No one's getting naked, but everyone's sippin on bub, dressed fly as hell and having a good time. The party videos just don't have as much effect today as they did back then... damn...
Ladies, were y'all feeling Brat when she came out?
Fellas, do y'all prefer thugged out or femme Brat?
Holla @ me here or at Breezylovesyababy@gmail.com (also let me know if you have any Throwback requests. Thanks).

good video......what about bahamadea (i hope i spelled it right) or that 5 o'clock in the morning joint.
also.....the boss, she was hard
man motherfuck these carpet munching hoe's they need to get some pipe laid in them!
I can believe JD wrote this track because Brat could be easily switched with Chris Cross (sp). If I didn't know that it was Brat I would have thought it was them. That being said, I still liked her style and delivery.
I have a request Breezy. Can we get Salt & Pepa, Express Yourself one of these Thursday's?
This was one of my fav's back in the day. MJB, Keith Murray, Goodie Mob, BIGGIE, Puff, everybody is in this damn video having a good 'ol time. This video and this song bring back a lot of memories and I definitely thought Brat was cute from jump but, I didn't wanna hit it until "What you Like" came out. I love this song and I love Da B-R-A-T. I'm checkin for some new material also.
ahhh when hip-hop was a teenager....... i remember the days.......
Peace!

Damn, I can't even share a corny joke without you bitch ass niggas catching feelings. For all you slow niggas, (like this nigga above that took it upon himself to address the hater) the joke was Hurricane Chirs looks like the Brat.
If you think this fake ass Snoop Dogg wanna-be ass bitch is Hip Hop than your smoking crack. Yeah she had skills, but she tried too much to be like Snoop. Last time I checked the first rule in Hip Hop is to be original. So the next time you jump on my dick, make sure you know what your talking about, dumbass!!!
this was the shit u cant dent that. my funkdefied cd still aint got a scratch on it
