The Wire SERIES FINALE: "I Always Wondered If They'd Get Their Sh*t Together. But This is B-More, Right?"

Posted on March 10, 2008 9:00 AM

WOW. So it really is over and done now, huh?

Before I even get into it, I gotta give Hersheal Jones (check last Friday's blog) credit. Hersheal Jones must be David Simon's ghetto nom de plume... because how ELSE would you've known the exact play-by-play of last night's episode? I thought they were keeping that sh*t airtight.
So yeah, being that my man spilled the beans, there's no need for me to go into an in depth recap, because sh*t, I was watching it to see if he left anything out! (That Avon omission looked a lil' funny to me too when he posted it, but yup, they kept him out of the SF).

This is basically how it wraps up: (I know it's a lil' dark, bear with me)

So... what was your honest opinion about the finale?
First of all (excluding the "wake")... did Jimmy NOT take a drink AT ALL in this episode?!

I know I started out blogging about The Wire as a newbie, but then you guys got me swept up into this world and I couldn't find my way out. Kinda like the drug game.

With that being said... I personally was a lil' let down. I didn't want Marlo to beat the case, but once it was discovered that there was an illegal wire tap going down, you knew that the sh*t was a wrap.

There's a couple of things in mind that I would've LIKED to have seen go down last night (obviously, every single one couldn't have happened because it would've f*cked with the story plot entirely, but... a girl can dream, can't I?)

1-- I REAAALLLLLLY wanted that Marlo/Avon/Wee-Bay shanking to happen. It just seemed unreal to me that he was NOT in this episode (I know they really only brought back the lost characters once, but they could've made an exception!)

2-- There was a rumored scene where Chris was going to lose it while being interrogated by Bunk. I would've like to see that, but in retrospect, having Chris lose his cool once (the killing of Mike's stepdad) was enough for the whole series, I guess.

3-- Some sort of Jimmy/Bunk reconciliation at some point in the episode. I felt their relationship was left wide open. I guess I was right about the prequels-- Prop Joe got a prequel and he got popped, as did Omar. Jimmy and Bunk shared a prequel, and their relationship slowly but surely died over the course of the season.

4-- Kima making moves toward finding another chick! Straight or not, I'm all for the ladies finding love!

5-- If Marlo HAD to beat the case, then I would've liked to have seen him and Mike go at it in a fair man-to-man, no iron involved.

6-- Slim Charles coming through the television to come and get me and --- (oops, that was a personal one of mine... sorry!)

Instead, what we got was what we got. I didn't HATE the episode, but it was kind of like I was having the greatest sex of my life, the rhythm is good, switched up the flows on me a few times and I was able to dig it (meaning the plot twists I didn't expect) but I didn't get to that climatic moment I was waiting for. But maybe that's just me.

I did, however, have a few choice scenes that I thought were excellently executed.

First of all, the opener was priceless. I don't know what was more hilarious, the intial silence before Carcetti starts breaking, or Norman's inappropriately appropriate laughter. But he breaks it down, though:

"They manufactured a mission to get paid. We manufactured a mission to get you elected."

In other words, he's mad 'cuz they stylin' on him.

A really sad scene (but I enjoyed it, because, like I said, it was well-executed) was the final interaction between Dukie and Mr. Prezbo. Dukie showed up to school looking ashier than normal, and Prezbo knew what was up when Dukie claimed he needed to borrow money to get a new place, some clothes and to enroll in a GED program. Prezbo offered to drive Dukie there and enroll him there himself, but of course Dukie declines the offer. So he makes a deal with him: he'll give him the money, and in a few days he'll check to see if D's enrolled. If so,great, if not, "then I'll imagine this is the last time I'll be seeing you." It looked like it genuinely hurt Prezbo's heart to see his former student succumb to the life, especially the way he immediately drove away after dropping him back with the Junkman. Sigh... I guess to let Bubbles go free, they had to sacrifice Dukie.

Speaking of which... I am SOOO GLAD Bubbles got a fair deal with the ending (it was sweet to see him finally eating dinner with his family). I'm glad he decided to let the story run, as well. Maybe now he can see that he is capable of having good stuff happen to him.

One of my absolute FAVORITE scenes was the conversation between Rhonda and Levy in Levy's office. She had him by the balls thanks to a tape recording of him buying them from Gary DiPasquale, aka The Weakest Link, (as well as her own, and she knew it), but she was the boss of that situation. Because she discovered that Levy sold early documents to drug kingpins (thanks, Freamon!), she makes him get Chris to opt for life in jail-- no parole, with Cheese and Monk possibly recieving up to 20 years in exchange for Marlo's freedom (YUCK). And Marlo has to leave the game ALONE, or his case will possibly be reopened and he'll have to do hard time.

See, that part wasn't believable to me. I can't see Marlo leaving the game just as much as you could ee Prop Joe leaving it alone. And, although he looks good in a suit, that didn't fit him. If you ask me, his ending was left wiiiiiide open as well (forget that wack ass beatdown and him licking his blood... double YUCK).

I LOVED THE IRISH WAKE! I want to go to one, now! They fooled the hell outta me. I knew that being that the Irish culture was involved, it would involve drinking, but I thought Jimmy was gonna kill himself and they were gonna toast to his life-- not be this mock retirement party it was to be! (BTW, this was where I was hoping my Bunk-- McNulty reconciliation would happen, to no avail). Kima also reveals that she told Daniels the truth. Wow. You gotta hand it to her. In the long run, she's responsible for everything to go down like it did-- and since there was a copycat, had she not opened her mouth, everybody could've gotten off without doing the bargaining and sweating that made up 60% of the finale. But, like she said, "it had to be done." That's why I said her "lullaby" scene with her son would've also made for an appropriate finale scene, because in essence, she got it all wrapped up, or, "put everything to bed." Don't y'all agree?

I won't talk about Simpleton, 'cuz the fact that he got off "Scott-free" made me mad as hell. But by the looks of it, Fletcher is becoming what Templeton SHOULD'VE been, so Gus is okay.

My second-to-last favorite scene was Mike's Omar transformation, aka the stick up, simply because of the dialogue:

Vincent: You just a boy!
*POP*! Vincent gets shot.
Mike: That's just your knee.

But lastly, this was my favorite, FAVORITE scene:

THEY GOT YOU, N*GGA!!! TICAAAAAAALL!

If y'all read these blogs carefully, then you know I was WAITING for this. If Cheese had lived, I would've been pissed the f*ck off. But, I got a GOOD LAUGH outta that one.

Wow... so it is really over. Was it all that you expected? Was it more, or did it fall short? I think that although alot of it was tied up, a lot of it was left open for a possible movie. Sex and The City's coming out this year, Sopranos just got greenlighted, so why not? Let's hope so.

I just want to make a sentimental note and say that I truly enjoyed watching and re-capping this season for y'all. I thank all of you who interacted with me on this blog through the comments and through e-mail. And thank you to the ones who *kindly* corrected me when I fudged on a character's name or something similar. I enjoyed our conversations about possible outcomes and, especially, trying to decipher the "clock code" amongst ourselves! Thank you for putting me on to this phenomenon that was this show; my only regret is that I caught on to it so late. Better late than never, I say.

Aight, I know this blog is alot. Let me know what you thought of the series finale, and about your favorite characters, episodes, and what not. And also-- very important!!-- if you have another show in mind that you'd like me to consider re-capping, please e-mail me and let me know. See y'all tomorrow.

ONE LAST STATEMENT: I *knew* the copycat killer was the freaky businesscard homeless guy when a business card was pulled out of a victim's belongings. I bet alot of you just wrote him off like the other homeless guy that was babbling about Satan awhile back. Just shows that you have to pay attention to EVERYTHING!!!

  • I thought the finale was neither here on there. Basically it is what it is. Mike became the new Omar. Dukie became the new Bubbles, blah blah blah blah. I thought it was stupid how it took this show all this time to make the point that this street shit is endless. When one nigga gets killed or locked up there is always someone there to take that person's place.

  • They tied up the season just like they tie up bodies in the bag real quick nothing left behind. I have to say I'm happy with everything that happen. I wish Marlo got shot by those kids but we can't have Christmas in March now can we? The fact tha Cheese got his in the end made up for Marlo walking the streets. Sad to see Dukie get lost to the streets but with no one to watch over him where else could he land? I'm surprised they didn't put him in a group home? I really like the ending, I always look at Balitmore when I pass by it on my way to NC. I loved the fact the McNulty got out and really took a look at it. They did a great job and I hope they leave this just the way it is. I don't need any movie shyt, that would just spoil it. They went out and the world is still spinning, nothing more to be said.

  • I was very disappointed with the ending. It seemed like to me this season each episode got better and better and then they got real lazy at the end. It would have been nice for there to be a big cliff hanger. But i guess not. Oh well..... next... lol

  • I thought it was perfect. I only wish that Marlo would have got it before he was released. But, that would have been too unbelievable and dramatic. The Wire hangs it's hat on real life scenarios and that is one of them. I'm glad that Cheese got his the way that he did. He didn't deserve any heroic or dramatic ending. He got it exactly the way he should have. In a vacant lot and no subsequent scene investigating his murder. I don't think that McNulty deserved a happy send off but he's a tragic figure. The reporter getting the pulitzer wouldn't be the first fraudulent cat to get an award. Carcetti becoming governor was well-deserved because he did it by making back room bullshit deals like any other politician. Daniels resigning and his lady becoming a judge was an excellent look. I think it delivered, you just hate to see the good ones end. I might jump off of a roof when Smallville ends.

  • It ended perfectly. It showed the circle of life. Marlo was the forgotten king that quick just how people forgot avon was king. Mike new omar. Dookie new bubbles. I really respect slim's gangster. And I didn't think about it but chris was the modern weebay, the nigga that was to loyal and caught the raw deal

  • I am really really disappointed with the series finale of The Wire. I hated how Lester and Mcnulty didn't care they Kima told on them. I would of been mad as hell if I was them. I hated how they just showed Micheal in one scene and didn't even show him at the end. I really hate how Marlo got to walk free and how his whole case was cover up and I really really hated what happen to Duquan. He hasn't did anything horrible in his life to deserve to be given the life he has. I don't know why they didn't make him ask the teacher for help. I don't know why the teacher didn't take him in. I just feel like the the whole episode was a waste of time.

  • I think most people will be upset cause they have been brainwashed to have "comfortable" endings. Like if anyone has seen the movies "No Country For Old men" or " There Will Be Blood". Great movies and story, unusual endings which people complained about but should have took the time to think about the point of it all. But that is how life is, there is no explaination and as much as you try to change things in this world everything starts again. Bubbles, Omar, McNultty, Daniels,Marlo. Some deserved bettter, some got lucky some can't help but be in the game, but no matter what that type of person exist and always will. It's like High School....there's a big bully busting head , running things, he graduates or gets kicked out, you may think " whew glad that's over" and then guess what, a new cat comes in and takes over as a bully. .......Anyway, that's why I love the Wire and especially the finale of seasn 4! I was so sad to see all 4 of the kids seperate when they were so close and all they truly had, but that's how life is. This season, reminded me of my job , where I see asshole after asshole get promoted because of ass kissing, playing the game or just cause the bosses looked the other way. That's why dude got the pultizer prize, Rawls is running Maryland police, Daniels is now a lawyer instead of the Commisioner he should be. .....Well, it's the finale so I had to say my part, sorry it's mad long. I loved the Wire and Breezy you did a good job considering how much you missed. Baltimore is like every city and I guess thats a good thing and a bad thing, if you think about it.
    Peace

to tell the truth its exactly how the streets are..
a CYCLE...mike became a omar..marlo became what would of been stringer bell if he didn't get popped..people got promoted and resigned..for a new breed of officers..dukie became bubbles..slim and the committee became what prop joe had and got shit back on a balance..
but I must say it would of been good to see clay davis and his shiiiiit trademark one last time..
the ending where they show bmore and the future of the city through jimmy's eyes was classic..where he's standing on bw parkway...

I think when slim charles killed cheese that was the high light for me. • Man the show sucked after they killed Omar. They should have left him alive and let him and marlo have it out one one one. The writers went soft after all the praise they were given over the years. Everyone I have talked to said they hated the last show. They showed naman once. All the kids from seaon 4 once. Had a kid kill Omar. the writing got wack at the end. So maybe it was time for The Wire to go because the writing got very sorry.

The lighting was excellent on how they used it to show the evil in his eyes and face and that he has completely transformed into this heartless being. The dialog was on point the part after he shot Vincent and he was like "I can't believe that nigga shot me" I was dying laughing.

Unlike every1 here dissapointed because they wanted to see a action packed shoot it out ending, this finale showed us how fuked politics is. Carcetti has to cover his ass, the lawyers have to cover theres, Rawls shuts up to get promoted to Maryland police, and all this bs leads to giving marlo stanfield a free walk after catching $16 million worth of drugs. smh at politics.

I got a question to my fellow wire fans. Why'd they kill Randy and Namond's characters so fast after being the stars last season? Wasn't Randy supposed to be related to cheese?

  • I HOPE ALL OF YOU HATED THE SHOW!!! If you didn't like the finale then The Wire did its job and maintained their integrity. They tried their best to give you what you wanted while keeping the show as close to real life as possible.

REAL LIFE: The game don't game. Kingpins USUALLY get aquitted while the soldiers take the fall. Everytime a fiend gets clean another fiend is born(Bubs and Dukie...which I called last season. I mean his name is DUKIE...I knew he was gonna be a fiend). Police get fired and police get hired. Stick-up boys come up all time. And from personal experience they usually are made out of people who know the game but had to get out for some reason or another. When the boss goes down theirs always a fight for the topspot(sorry for Cheese all it took was a shot). Politicians keep moving up and down. AND THE GAME WILL PLAY ITSELF OUT ALL OVER AGAIN.

Can anybody tell me what happened to Cutty, the little boy who snitched Season 4, Brother Mouzone and why the NEW governor's police superintendant NEVER got outted for being gay?...those are the ends I want tied up....everything else is Just The Game!

I woulda liked to have seen the Boxing Trainer Cutty more. I think they only had him in ome episode. Also, what happened to Randy in the Boys Home? They showed Naymond once, and that was the previous episode. Sorry for Dukie. This show clearly states that the youth need positive role models in order to survive. Great series. Looks like Mike will be the new Omar. I though he woulda become the new Marlo. Slim popped Cheezs head FOR JOE. And I did enjoy the scene with Marlo handling those 2 cats. The only action I had almost seen Marlo in, was was when he was threatening Bodey with the 5 iron. And why didnt we see Avon one last time? WeeBay and Chris linked up...stone cold killas

Shit...before I even saw the last episode, I was just coming up with random scenarios. One would have Mike show up to the jail, before Marlow got out, and just tell him "yeah...I killed Snoop." But nah...to see this kid from season 4 go from chill, layed back hopper to "Omar"...the writers just basically made him "THAT NIGGA." lol...but for what its worth, I kinda expected it to end like that cuz it ended like every other regular season. So overall, it was a good episode.

  • Conspiracy theory for the "Wire" movie.

On the last episode do yall remember when McNulty told Bunk that the "cat was out of the bag" and that the Police Daniels and Mayor knew what was up? When bunk went off on McNulty for not being fired, did yall peep the camera man taping the whole hissy fit? Well, a great way to keep the story going is if the camera man caught the whole conversation and the news media aired that shit out.

Each season had it's own theme (the schools, the docks, the streets, politics and the media) What would be the main theme for the movie?

  • WOW. The final statement about Marlo just went right over all you peoples' heads huh? How can you say they left his ending wide open? His deal was that he could walk with all his money, but he had to give up the crown. You don't get it? All he ever wanted was the crown. That's the only reason he got in the game. He's in a room full of big money movers and high powered lawyers, in position to take off in legit business , and what does he do? He steps outside and does the only thing he knows how to do. He walks to the hood and takes over a corner. As natural as breathing and eating. Think about it. After Marlo ran the youngsters off the block and saw that he had been cut, THAT'S THE ONLY TIME YOU'VE EVER SEEN MARLO SMILE. Get it now? He's going to jail for life. He won't be able to leave the streets alone, he wants niggas to fear him and speak of him with respect. When Marlo first went to war with Avon, Vincent told Marlo that " the pennetentiary is full of boys who wore the crown." Marlo replied, " the point is they wore it. its my turn to wear it now." Marlo knew all roads led to life in jail & he didn't care. He wants that crown and he'll keep chasing it til they put him in the box. This show never spelled everything out for the viewer. I thought peoplle who watched the wire could read between the lines.

From what i heard, they r tryin to get d simon to do a movie and from what i hear if he does it it will be a prequel. did yal peep how Sydnor became Mcnulty when he was tell the judge the real deal at the end. That was how the First season started with mcnulty doing the same thing. that was brilliant how they did that. It left it open for one more season at least. gotta love the wire.

  • The episode was deep, did Marlow step on the corner to get arrested or did he leave the game. The show ended well, One of them Marlo dudes had to die and luckily for us all it was that sucker Cheese. It was messed up that Daniels had to fall back but at least he seemed to have landed on his feet. Can't believe that lying Journalist - Templeton - got away with the BS and one the award.
The Wire has defiantly solidified itself in history, being the most realistic show and not falling for them hollywood BS

  • You know the fuck up thing for Marlow was that thirst for the streets to know his name and when he approached the kids on the corner they was talking about Omar as a legend. They didn't know who Marlow was when he asked them if they knew who he was. they was ready to put it on him. Like Curb said he needs that crown to be satified and to know that a gay stick up dude hade it who was gansta with it being talked about like he had the crown got marlow wanting to make his point which will lead to his downfall anyway. Good one Curb

  • I stand corrected, Marlo has smiled before. But the point remains. You could see it in his face, the rush he got from that action on the block. The writers made a point to remind us that he doesn't drink, he's not flashy, don't drive big cars or wear jewels. Money aint gonna be enough to keep him out the game. The writers also made it clear that Marlo is a compulsive gambler. That, in addition to his lust for the streets, adds up to the fact that Marlo will jump back in the game sooner or later. And he'll be locked up til we're living like the Jetsons, unless Mike runs up on him first.

Think about it he was the most feared in the streets, he had no fear, and those who thought they had the crown he would take it away to the point the had to come at him out of fear of being got. marlow has heart but Chris and Snoop didnt tell him about Omar callin him out because they was afraid of the outcome for Marlow and the Crew.

  • Omar had niggas under pressure and got a lot of respect, but he never had "the crown" in the way Marlo and Avon did. Even though they were scared of Omar, niggas didn't wanna be like Omar. Omar lived his life duckin and hiding, living in vacants, always having money on his head. Not to mention he was a known homo. Avon and Marlo were hood celebrities. Rich beyond anyones wildest dreams, out in the open, holding court, always highly spoken about, with loyal muscle- which equals power. That's wearing the crown. Omar was gangster, no mistake about it. But lets not forget Omar was killed because of the money Marlo put on his head.

That was perfect, it was reality, it was what made us all fall in love with the Wire in the begining the fact that it was so realisitic. I must say I'm sad to see it end. Lastly my favorite part of the SF was when Daniels told Mcnutty in the elevator "To be continued" that shit was classic

The sad thing about it is that there are real life Dukies that dont have any where else to go and wind up homeless junkies. Thats why I love the show cause it is always real. I think Marlo ended up leaving B-more he had his freedom and all his money, but had to give up the crown so need for him to stick around. Of course he took care of Chris and his peeps, but I think he left.

The wire was a show about reality, from Avon, Marlo, Weebay, Stringer, Prop Joe, Cheese down to Bunk & McNulty ect.. I enjoyed the last episode but I thought it was have been a lil more action? Really was disappointed to not see Avon in the last episode, Cheese got what he deserved, Marlo walked, McNulty and Freeman got outsted, Greggs snitched.. right down to Daniels leaving the force "tired of shining shit and passing it off as gold" (priceless) I now have to back track and check out season 4 and I will have watched all 5 seasons.. long live the wire and b-more.. fact is just like l.a., just like chicago, just like st louis, just like memphis, just like NY, just like miami, just like atlanta.. same hoods, same game only the characters revolve..

yeah that was ill, the camera went to handy-cam view and a bunch of silence, then Daniels got out of the elevator, did an about face, and said that shit, i was almost like "oh shit" because the whole time, though no dialogue was exchanged, you can almost sense the words "you know you done fucked up" comming out of Daniels mouth on that elevator ride.........but instead of that convo, he just gets off non-chalantly and hit em wit da Dougie.... "to be continued"

and 4 the love of drugs, people please stop feeling sorry for Dookie. You dudes probably don't even respect your own relatives really living in his situation, and he's just an actor...

as far as the show, da dude had the smarts to further his education, but never took that chance! He had his chance to cake up on da block, but he can't even handle lil Kenard, so imagine if somebody really put force to his well-being, it was his destiny!

I know ya'll seen how deftly he leaps from ground to junk-mobile, it's almost as effortless as Superman changing in a Phone-Booth.... Diddy doing Promo...... The Clipse and a Coke reference.....

  • I want everyone to know it was a brilliant ending to a brilliant show. First off Mike is the new Omar, he always had a code that he lived by just like Omar, he couldnt be told what to do by another man. Chris and Webay was muscle but they didnt have their own minds. They both needed Avon and Marlo more than Avon and Marlo needed them. Thats why they in jail forever. Marlo is in the same space Avon was once in. He dodged a huge bullet. And he proved who he was by taking a corner with no weapon against two dudes...if you notice he sighs and looks around. As to say 'Ima miss this' What that symbolizes was that he was leaving the game he even sold the connect!! Avon was in the same position but yolu never seen hm in a suit, he was only a gangster, Stringer was the business mind he was always in a suit. Marlo was the best of both of those worlds a gangster and a business man!

  • Also lastly Dookie, sad but he was lazy he had plenty of opportunity with Mike but he didnt want to do anything, it was inevitable. Mike aint flip on him. He took care of him, clothes food, showers(lol) shelter what more could he do? He always complemented Dookie on how smart he was. He even took him off the corner and said he didnt have to be there. And that his time was his own. What more could Mike do? Mike had to and still has to take care of his brother. Dookie and Mike come from the same situation. Mike was molested so his situation is even a little worse. I'm writing all this because most people dont realize the chances that they get and take them for granted and blame another person for their shortcomings. Its like you can never do enough for a person.

and to the dumb and blind, yeah he sold the connect, the ending minutes show Slim and Co-Op members kickin it with the greeks or russians or whoeva inside of their storefront......what ya'll didn't catch was da 3 seconds of my earlobe......(jus bullshittin, lol)

Maybe him runnin the dudes off the block was a way of him taking a personal moment to depart in peace to the same place he was born, that very same corner!!!!

that good ol "Goodbye/Back To Square One" kinda sighs......

lmaooo it is funny though, you can tell all the shit at the party wasnt an interest of Marlo's, that ain't even his element....all the big-shots and such..... as calculated as he was, Marlo was a real simple dude.....almost to the savage extent Prop Joe prophesized when he spoke of trying to "civilize" him......

Marlo definitely left town, you can tell by how he looks at the gun but lets it lay when he could've taken it and roamed around lookin for new recruits or even Mike for that matter....

and to the dude who made the parallel to Gus and McNulty being the two creators, your dead on!!!!!

In his head he tells himself he's done with the game, but its obvious where his heart is - right out there on the block. Oh and Marlo selling the connect means absolutely nothing. You act like Marlo had the connect all along. If he starts getting too antsy and has to get back at it, which one of them co-op niggas is thorough enough to keep the crown from Marlo? Exactly. The same way he got the connect from Prop Joe, that's how he'll get it from Fat Rick or Slim or whoever. Marlo is incapable of being anything but a blockmonster. That's the message the writers were sending with his last scene.

The Wire always had better writers than Sopranos, enen though thw wire got robbed every year @ emmy time. Soprano's got love EVEN after they took a year off to write the final season, what kind of crap is that. If The Wire gets no love this year @ emmy time u kno what time it is...

Now as far as the final episode Wire fans must remember these guys know what we want as viewers so they leave a lot of holes for the Movie! Trust, this isn't the last of any of these characters! Better believe that movie already has the first couple of scenes written. One thing I wish they should have shown was Strings/Deanlgelo's girl she was one Hottt Goldigger!! If u don't think the Movie is comin u kiddin yo'self, HBO aint passin up all that money!!

Tell me this wouldn't be sweet Marlo's character moves to NYC with all his cash & is looking 4 a connect so he hooks up with Tony Soprano Jr who then hooks him up with his Father, remember Marlo said he wanted to be a business man, those Italians had their hands in everything (Wire/Soprano writers can have this concept, ya'll kno it's hot Wire characters crossing over to Sopranos taking OVER)!!!

Duquan was lazy. Dookie didnt have anyone to take care of like Mike, he only had himself. I'm sorry he could have done more.

    @Julio

the serial killer case didnt wrap itself up. They (Lester and Mcnulty) had to give up their jobs behind their actions for Mcnulty he gets no pension. They just pint it on an old homeless guy so the politicians could fool the public. The show started perfect and ended perfect. Most of you are probably young so you don't really understand what life is about yet. You prefer Scarface over The Untouchables. Because hollywood got you guys thinking that gangsters go out in a blaze of glory. Newsflash...!!!! They don't!!! They get convicted for football numbers sometimes life. Marlo and Mike go one on one. • For the last episode they should have went out with a bang. But none the less......Micheal becomes Omar,Marlo becomes Stringer,Dukie becomes Bubles and so on.Bringing the Wire full circle. But it would have been better with Micheal putting that shotgun to marlo.Saving Dukie fom the streets and becoming the new Bell/Barksdale.It would have at least got the viewers a little to wonder off with.

  • David Simon should've taken those 3 extra episodes. The finale felt rushed and sloppy. Too much deus ex-machina to magically wrap up everything into an implausible bow. Massive letdown after Episode 9. Viewers were expecting the show to go out with a bang -- not a feeble boring whimper.

All those "meta" shout-outs and knowing winks to the audience got annoying. I get the point about cycles but it was way too heavy-handed and simplistic. We don;t need to be bashed over the head with it. The repetitive "___ is the new ___" was lame and corny. What happened to this show's multi-layered subtlety? Suddenly it's "The Wire For Dummies"?

The entire serial killer plot was buried. After all that build-up... Nothing.

The finale blews chunks. It evacuated itself.
