The Salt N' Pepa Show Ep. 10: "Can You Bring Me In The Park With You?"

Posted on March 5, 2008 12:00 PM

YAY! I know alof of you thought this day would never come, but it did.

Salt N' Pepa
went in on a song together! WHAAAAAT?! Yeaaahhhh boy!
I'm not the only one amped:

I'd just like to thank that student at Queensborough College that posed that question of the duo while they were giving a talk at the school. Had it not been for her, we might not have gotten this episode!

But, it doesn't go off as seamlessly as we'd like. Not by a longshot.

When they return to Cheryl's house, they begin to brainstorm on ideas for a track. But there are SOOO many distractions... and believe it or not, it's Salt who's susceptible to them-- not Pep.
Salt starts shooing away the dog, rummaging in the fridge for grub (and I KNOW y'all caught this priceless dialogue:

Pepa: You got bananas? Salt: No bananas for you! Pepa: I'ma eat it properly!

In fact, Pep's so disturbed by Salt's sudden onset of ADHD that she starts to question her true dedication to their project.

Is it me, or did it seem like Cheryl and Sandy did a total "Freaky Friday/Body Switch" thing this episode??

You gotta cut Cheryl a lil' bit of slack though. She hasn't written a song-- let alone with Pep-- in so long, it's gonna take her a minute to get back in the groove. I know how that feels. I took a year off from college against my will, and when I returned, I swear I felt like I couldn't even form proper sentences, let alone write a thesis paper or a profile of an entertainer.

Anyway, their manager Charles is also worried about their lack of direction, and summons a therapist. No, not the great Iyanla, but some weird crock of a lady. I mean really, how the f*ck was that supposed to get their creative juices flowing? All she wounds up doing is making Salt feel like she needs to go off and write on her own, to which, Pep gets angry at.

Now, personally I feel that she shouldn't gotten mad at that part-- they could've separated for a few and then come together as a unit.

In Pep's, mine, and a lot of viewers at home... that moment didn't come.
Salt went and RAN with her "golden age of Hip-Hop" song concept (sprinkled with a reference to the great B.I.G. ), found the producers, and went in the booth without as much as an "uhhh" from Pep. Now THAT's a reason to get a lil' angry-- she felt left out. Sandy gets mad, storms out of the studio... but luckily, they resolved it like grown women and not like ... how they used to be, by her own admission.

Sigh... is it me or does it seem like these two just aren't on the same wavelength anymore?
Y'all tell me.

Yeah, I feel y'all. This particular episode wasn't all that interesting. I like a mature Pep, but a serious, angry Pep? I'll pass. I do wanna hear what that song's gonna sound like once they put it out for the masses.. it sounds like it's gonna be tight.
WE NEED OUR STRONG FEMCEES BACK!!

NEXT WEEK: Pep's up in the gym, working on her fitness... I feel ya, girl... summer's coming and we all have that as our M-O right now... hmm, maybe now H

  • Let's be honest, Salt has always been the better MC and i think Pep was in her feelings because Salt was showing her up. They took a break and Salt came back with damn near a whole song done by herself and Pep's insecurities was showing again. i can't wait to hear the song sounds like a banger, glad to see the ladies still got it.
