Throwback Thursday: Breezy's Favorite Janet Jackson Video

Hey y'all--

So, what I hear is that Janet Jackson released her tenth studio album, Discipline, yesterday.
That's all fine and stuff, but I'm still stuck on old-school Miss Jackson. No disrespect to her, but I can't get with anything newer than Velvet Rope. Guess I'm just a JDJ purist.

Anyway, I thought I'd pay her some tribute today and post up my favorite Janet Jackson video. Mind you, it used to be "Love Will Never Do (Without You)", until a looooong time ago, I watched one of those BET Countdown 25 things and Alonzo Mourning (yes, him) said that this was HIS favorite. I saw it, and then it changed my life. THIS RIGHT HERE was dancing, and not only that, a dancer who respected the art form of perfect choreography.

Aight guys (and some ladies)... stop playing pocket pool, now. You're at work!

Here's what I think is so great about Pleasure Principle. It is Janet in raw, pure form, but the real highlight of this video is her actual footwork. On top of which, she didn't have to be scantily dressed or have super-crazy special effects to look absolutely HOT. In fact, I don't think I actually remember her looking hotter....

... and you GOTTA love the mirror scene!

You know what's crazy? This video is twenty-one years old, yet to sit here and watch it... I feel like this is STILL one of the more refreshing videos I've seen in a minute. Go figure.

And for y'all young'ns who didn't know, this video won an MTV Award for Best Choreography in 1988.

Lastly, let's not even get into which of today's young starlets can compare to Janet's dancing. You can't even have that choreography. BUT--

Check out this clip from the tribute paid to her by Pink, Usher and Mya on that MTVicon program a few years back. Like I said, there's NO comparison, but I remember seeing this and enjoying it.

Thoughts? Comments? Throwback requests? Is "Pleasure Principle" your favorite Janet video? If not, what is? Holla @ me here or Breezylovesyababy@gmail.com
