Keyshia Cole's The Way It Is 2 Season Finale: MAMA DRAMA!

So... another reality show has come to a close. I felt that it had just started, though! If y'all missed out on this one... oohhh Lawd, y'all missed out on some sh*t hitting the fan.
I think I came away with one sole lesson from this entire season:
Frankie is a piping, steaming, two-minutes-off-the-crack-pipe-hiding-under-the-bed mess.
Seriously... I'm not trying to crack on her, but I realized that Frankie will FOREVER have that "addict" look in her face & mannerisms. No amount of foundation, askewed wigs or poorly drawn lipliner (Ladies did you PEEP THAT? Someone should've called Lil' Mama to teach Frankie some application techniques) can cover that up. Sorry.
The album's done, so our girl decides that she wants to have a family reunion with her adoptive family and her spread-out biological family so they can all come together and kumbaya. Umm, am I the only one that smelt the sh-t from a mile away? But we'll get into that. Can't hate on a chick for trying, though.
The episode starts with Key Cole revealing to the therapist (whose name I can NEVER remember) that she wants Neffe and Frankie to tell them what's the matter with her and their relationship. At first, my eyes begin to roll because this chick obviously don't know that when you ask ANYONE that question, you're giving them PERMISSION to basically walk all over your self-esteem. However, my eyes almost get stuck in the back of my eye sockets when the only thing Frankie can think off is the fact that Keyshia won't let her partake in sipping Patron in the house or in public. BITCH! You are a RECOVERING ADDICT. You shouldn't want to touch ANY kind of substance whatsoever-- it hasn't even been a year? What, you think just because you can't get pistol-whupped over some liqs that it's safe? Frankie really needs to take a hard look in the mirror and realize that she can go right where she came from with the quickness.
(Although it was funny when she revealed that when Keyshia was drunk, she snatched Frankie's wig-- they shoulda showed THAT on the show!)
Now, we get to the point where I'm going to divide up the remainder of the show into a few categories. Bare with me y'all. There's a lot to cover, and I'm trying to make it so that I won't bombard y'all. Here we go
THE TACKY:
I'll let y'all decide this one. It's between a) the flannel pajama-looking pants that Frankie's son Sammy flew on the plane with; b) the fact that one of Frankie's daughters is named Elite; c) the way Keyshia, Neffe and Frankie went about revealing the paternity results to Ken. You don't do some sh-t like that on speaker phone! I swear, anything to get ratings...
But like I said, that one's your choice. Leave your answers in the comments.
THE AYO REALIZATION!!:
The fact that everytime Frankie cries, she sounds like she's high. I guess y'all are making "No sh*t, Sherlock" faces at the screen, huh?
THE COULDA, WOULDA, SHOULDA:
It's either the fact that all 7 of Frankie's children weren't gathered for the reunion, or the fact that although K. Cole's dane practices, although they appear to be promising... were not effective.
THE BAD: The scene when Neffe decides to terminate her pregnancy. I'm saying... haven't like an extra 3 weeks passed already? Okkaaay... this scene is very emotional and also brings forth the "AYO REALIZATION", because Frankie doesn't agree with Nef's decision & will not accompany her daughter "to do her dirt". Here's the gist of the conversation:
Frankie: I carried out all seven of my pregnancies... 'cuz they all my kings & queens. Neffe: Let's keep it real [raises voice] You couldn't take care of them! I AM ALONE!
We also learn that Nef's impregnator has been a drug abuser. Watching her face while she dials up the clinic is very heartwrenching, because I know in the back of her mind, she's wondering if the baby is her unborn son. Whose points do you think are more valid, Frankie's or Nef's?
Lastly... THE UGLY
The entire family reunion, especially in the Hard Rock Cafe. I don't care if Keysh showed up and all merriment was held at the amusement parks-- Frankie needs to SIT THE F*CK DOWN SOMEWHERE AND GET OFF THE DEVIL JUICE. We all know that you have issues with the Coles, but you really should respect them more, because they gave your daughter the strength to do something with her life. You weren't around to call her "sweetiechocolatecake", or whatever it was Daddy Cole called her. Yes, Keyshia is 26 years old now & that hatchet should be on its way to being buried. But it won't happen if you and Nef keep doing crazy sh-t like getting mad at Sammy for his seat placement at the restaurant. And here I thought that there was just simply not enough room at the table? Did y'all see this as disrespect? And how did she see fit to jump up in Sammy's face like he was just some dude in the street? Respect has to be earned, and you haven't earned HIS respect yet. That was sooooooo crass and uncalled for, to me. You're his (and the rest of her children's) lifegiver, not his MAMA... and it seems that's been the hardest thing for her to accept that.
I think waaaaay more therapy is needed, added with abstaining from alcohol. You want to move up? Start playing your current position the correct way, because that's the only way you'll move on to a higher one.

I feel sorry for all of Frankie's children and I'm glad that came out alright and wasn't raise by her.
This was embarrassing. And Breezy is right; I too could smell the sh!t a mile away. The start of the whole argument was that Neffe had a problem with where her (I guess) brother was sitting. First off, there's about twenty-seven people at the table. I thought it would be 'more' confrontational if he sat with Neffe and Frankie because that would have made a more 'Face-off' kind of mentality. He was trying to mix it up a little; which probably relieved tension until Neffe opened her big mouth. Frankie cries everytime she talks, so I couldn't actually tell what she was mad about. But that was super-ghetto when she got up and went around the table to fight her (I guess) son. Frankie and Neffe just can't survive with Keyshia. And yes, Frankie's wigs are always an eye-opener, but I won't go there today. The whole show seems to be centered around Neffe and Frankie always crying. Like the episode where Neffe's Husband/Baby-Daddy (Clyde) walked away from the cookout. The moral of that story: "I'm good, I'm good". That was too funny. He had both drama queens on the attack, and his defense, "I'm good". That dude is ghetto beyond recognition.
However, let's get serious here. Frankie was a hardcore, dick-in-the-mouth, prostitute-ass dopefiend. The drugs destroyed their family. Frankie even said that the mixed guy could be Keyshia's father because she really couldn't remember who she had sex with. We all know Neffe turned a few tricks. She said she turned to the streets to do what she had to do. And damn, I thought Keyshia's real last name was Cole, but that's her adopted name. Please say no to drugs people. Yes it's funny to rip on extreme ghetto when we see it, but put some substance in there too. You wouldn't want your mom running the streets, having sex with guys in your high school classes, that's embarrassing. Yeah Frankie looks like a zombie, but it's the drugs man. That's somebody's mother; matter or fact, that's seven people's mother so be respectful.

I have to say this about this episode: my husband and I stayed pissed for most of the hour. Let me run it down real fast.
First of all, the jury has been out all season on Frankie. I couldn't figure out if I liked her or not. But this show here was the icing on the cake, I don't like her. Mostly because she just doesn't want to accept that she was/is an addict. She wants to just hit the ground running and think that now that she is out of jail and with her successful daughter, all is well in the world. Well, all is not well. Shit is fucked up. I also couldn't figure out why somebody, ANYBODY, hasn't pointed it out to Frankie that addicts shouldn't drink either. These are triggers, right? She always seems fucked up. So when she got on that bus and was about four good sheets to the wind, I was too through. How are you gonna meet your kids and you acting like Smokie? I know she has issues with the Cole family, but if she wanted to prove them wrong (by Keisha even taking the time to help her ass), then she definitely didn't succeed. Momma Cole tried to work it out, but I was with Daddy Cole, to hell with this. And what about Frankie teasing the kids to the point of them crying? I know that growing up, I hated this one uncle who made it a point to scare/play with all the kids. I wonder if he was on crack? But I digress.....Anyway, Frankie needs so much counseling - I think she is only clean because she was in jail. If Keisha cut her off today, it wouldn't be long before she was back on the hoe stroll. Sad, but that's the way I see it.
Secondly, I keep saying I got a love/hate relationship with Neffie. Even with that drama she pulled at the Hard Rock Cafe, I still like her. Even though she and Frankie clearly have jealousy issues with Keisha and the Cole family as a whole. I am choosing to give her a pass because it is not always easy to just drop the ghetto-mentality like that. Because I truly think that she has a little common sense. The abortion issue, I understood what she was saying. Frankie giving her all that lip about she had seven kids and she kept them all......ummm, no you didn't. You had seven because you were a crack head prostitute who probably got pregnant while you were at "work" and either couldn't afford an abortion, or didn't care that eventually you were going to have to give them up. So don't be up on this pedestal talking about them your Kings and Queens. I don't play cards, but I do know that Kings and Queens you keep.
I still have extreme admiration for Keisha. I like her because she's the underdog. I like her because she's trying to better herself and her family. But I will say that her family (read Frankie and Neffie) are gonna keep her stressed. They need professional help Keyshia just don't have. I'm still rooting for her. I hope there is a season 3. Season 2 wore me out
This show needs to be on the air, not to entertain but to expose the realities that some of us try so hard to hide from. Its almost like the middle class blacks have abandoned to lower class ones and would rather belittle and kick em while they're down than to really help them. There are so many black families in pain just like this one with no clue of how to deal with it so they don't deal with it, keep the cycle going and end up self-distructing. I agree with Neffe's decision to terminating her pregnancy. She nor her environment are stable enough to raise a well rounded happy child. I gotta commend Keysha and encourage her not give up on her family. Putting people before money is the only way to truly help and seems to be too big of a sacrafice these days.

About the show: I was glad to see that Frankie's other cildren (Sammie and Elite) seemed to be well-adjusted respectful people who could have went off on Frankie and told her about herself, but didn't. This was Frankie's first time meeting her daughter since she was a baby and this is how she behaves. Why is she drunk around her grandkids? And Sammie could have called her a crackhead b*tch who never took care of him who now wants to try to discipline a grown man and I wouldn't have been mad at him. Most men I know would have gripped her up, but he was cool about it. Neffie was acting like her mother by telling a grown man where to sit. He sits where he wants to. It was obvious that he has more respect for momma Cole.
And it never ceases to amaze me that no matter what happens, Frankie always manages to turn the attention on herself. How can he get upset and angry anytime that Keyshia or Neffie brings up the fact that she was a crackhead who abandoned her children (and tells them to let it go), but she can't let go of the fact that the Coles wouldn't let her see Keyshia as a baby. If her syphillis infested, toothless a*s came around to see that baby, I wouldn't have let her touch her either. Frankie is two steps away from grabbing the pipe and Keyshia needs to realize that some people just can't be saved. I bet Elite will stay as far away from Frankie as possible now. Poor child. And Keshia's cousin and dad had every right to break on them.
One of the major reasons why the poor stay poor in America is because of low self esteem and a psychological feeling of inferiority that allows them to believe that there is no hope and that they can't do any better. Not because they choose to not learn, but because they can't break free from the mental slavery. And nobody is trying to help them either...not even their own.

I watched the show last night and it was drama. However, I don't think that it is an embarrasment to blacks because its reality. Things like this happens everyday.

I am a Black man, a husband and a father of two. Happily and successfully married. I am from the hood and came from nothing and thought that the white man had it in for me. I had no father and had to start makin money when I was 13 yrs old. LIFE IS LIFE. People who come from the hard have to understand, the cards you are dealt are the cards you are dealt.
