Let me just start by sending a very special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our girl Sandra "Pepa" Denton, who turned 43 on November 2nd. I saw pics of her and Salt (yes, her and Salt together ) doing it up in San Juan over the weekend... I wonder if Pep finally got the chance to push it real good, and I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT DANCING! I know y'all fellas wouldn't mind cleaning the two year-old cobwebs from her clock.
You damn right, Salt. When Spinderella comes into town, it is a whole new ball game, as was definitely showcased by this particular episode. She puts our girls on blast, and honestly, I can't say I fault her for it.
Straight up, the gist of it has to do with Spin flying in from Cali because the group is to appear on The Tyra Banks Show. And at first, it appears all good, but we soon learn that these ladies have more beef than Burger King.
Aight, so when Spin's plane touches NY ground, she and Pep are shown hugging it up like girls, like they're waiting to get into some girly fun. Had us thinking sh-t was sweet. However, leave it to Mama Salt to take off our rose-colored glasses and tell us what's really up.
What’s interesting is that Mama Salt drops some history about how Spin joined the group, dubbing her the “baby sister”. She’s a few years younger than S&P, so when her parents agreed to let Spin (excuse me, DeeDee) tour with them, Salt promised to have her in bed by 11:00 p.m. However, somehow, Sandy got a hold of her and put a lil’ Pep in that step. That’s crazy. I don’t know if I could be Pep’s roll dawg 24/7... and on a tour?! Sheeit, might as well check me into the nearest rehab soon as the tour's over. Mad props to you for holding your head amidst the Salt and Pep mess, Deirdre.
Two things very important to talk about for this episode:
What did y'all think about their rehearsal? I don't know if it was because they'd been out the night before, but they did seem a little... arthritic. Whatever the case may be, what's more relevant is the fact that Pep (of course) is late to the rehearsal, and when she comes in, she looks like she definitely needs to sleep it off some more or go for the hair of the dog (I'm pretty sure she'd go for the latter). However... she snaps back into action when Salt reveals to her that she's changed her lyrics to "Shoop". Yep, she now says, "I wanna know.. can we hang?" . Damn. Pep straight up looked like, "I might be drunk as sh-t, but I gonna smack you upside the head with your Bible". Matter of fact, she was so ticked that you could see that expression BEHIND her hungover couture shades.
What was most awkward for me to watch was the hotel room scene where the three of them initally attempt to chose outfits to wear on the show. Spin lets it all hang out-- she never felt as if she were a part of the group. Now, earlier, Salt said something to the extent of "e were just hiring her to DJ", which to that I say, "okay, but what do you think of her now ?" First of all, all of you know that I thought that even though the major conflicts exist between Cheryl and Sandy, I thought DeeDee had just a right to be on the show, nonetheless a full-fledged group member. To support her argument, she even compared the situation to Run-DMC and Jam Master Jay. Run and DMC were the lyricists, but Jay made the group a UNIT, which is EXACTLY how I feel about these ladies.
I don't necessarily like the way they treated her feelings either. This episode did show much Pep is self-absorbed and how much Salt can be a ballbuster. I'm not hating, I'm just simply observing. I mean, it's kinda foul that after all these years y'all are telling her to stay in her lane. She might've not have been part of what y'all started, but I can't imagine the threesome without her.
The ladies looked muy fabuloso on The Tyra Banks Show, and it appears that their set went off without a hitch. Despite their inner struggles, they're still three very strong women who held their own against these men in the rap game, and still get the crowd pushin' it.
NEXT WEEK: Pepa needs a six foot condom... no, she's not f-cking a gorilla... she's in charge of one of their shows, and that's one of her chosen set props. Hmm...
****GOTTI'S WAY RECAP WILL HIT THE BLOG AT 1:30 PM, SO CHECK BACK!! ****

Salt gets on my nerves. I hate when people find religion and loose themselves. You can be the same person and follow Jesus
this was prob one of the better episodes of reality tv i have seen...
nice to see someone being REAL for a change...
Spin was valid to voice her opinions and I agree that Salt and Pep kinda blew her concerns off...
thought the Run DMC/JMJ comparison was right on..Spin shined a a part of the UNIT...whether a lyricist or not
i saw this shit, i was disgusted at how they played Spin's sexy ass as a 3rd wheel.......
you gotta mention Spinderella when you mention S-N-P...... so Pep is 43, hmmmm, still got me by almost 15yrs, but i'd knock the 2yr cobwebs conveniently outta existence.....
Salt killin me with this "Holier Than Thou" shit, Hubby must got that shit on keep-lock 4real.... i doubt anotha dude has a chance of hittin dat eveb if he demolition gear......
Spin's appearance made me realize why i had a 20+yr crush on dat ass to begin, she sexy as fuck........
now if could come close to findin a female with Salt's loyalty, Pep's tits, and Spin's sex appeal, i might be tryin to work hard to buy a nice priced rock.........
but in the real world, i'll stick to gettin thongs and panties tossed at me voluntarily until i find a female i can write R&B rhymes about......
Peace!!!!!!
I feel what Spin was saying but honestly back in the day it was all about Salt N Pepa - and Spin was the DJ but I only in the end considered her part of the group. They started including her more close to the end. But it was all about the 2 ladies simply b/c it was them at first. But being the 3rd can be hard but hey that's life.
And I don't think that Salt lost herself when she started going to church - I think she simply just grew up and b/c she has a husband and kids she tries to be as respectful as she can be and even people who aren't church folks can relate to something simple like that.

I always felt Spin #2 (DeeDee) was always part of the group once she replaced the first Spin. She was the Sexy DJ, it wouldn't work with a guy DJ for the group and Herbie knew that, so I don't think they should treat her like that, even if they could have replaced her with another chick, and at that time in the rap game it was all about the DJ, plus you had two hot a$$ females moving the crowd.
I still cant get over Pepa's nose job...she fucked her face up big time...word of advice to all females...LEAVE THE NOSE JOBS ALONE!!!!!! as for salt is cool to find God but she need to lighten up a lil bit...have some fun & enjoy life..she is too stiff...
I just like the fact that they was all REAL with it, kept it respectful and didn't bullshit it out for the sake of TV. I understand Spin and I think she finally got them listening to her. Even with all their 'issues' you can tell that its still mad LOVE between them. I gotta respect Salt for growing up and sticking to her beliefs. I fucks wit Pep for being a 43yo rock star, and I love Spin for being real. I hope they can do it again, get paid and stay happy!
Salt is terrible and that why her husband is cheating on her cuz she is too controlling. It's called Karma bitch. How u going to drop somebody from the rap duo. Bitch got everything coming to her
I always felt Spin(DeeDee) was apart of the group. How can you say that she was just the hired hand or roadie. You just be with someone, party with someone or share deep feelings with someone and not be a trio.Im glad Salt found GOD but she is losing or has lost her idenity. If her faith in God is as strong as she says it is, nothing I mean nothing she is around will change that. Pep need to grow up . Well she needs to get certain things in order and not neccessarily grow up. Truth be told all three need to be in a room together, no cameras or spouces and just air out all complaints and then move on and be S-N-P, SALT PEPA AND SPINDERELLA.
1LOVE
The only word that comes to mind is "ridiculous". Because for 1 if the " spinderalla role" was so in signifigant then they woulda been casting for that ever time spin turned 18 like mundo. So that just proves how full of shit that is. And this is the 1st I've ever heard of salt n pepa being a 2 member group. Anybody you ask who like and or appreciated hip hop who have heard of salt n pepa. They will be quick to tell you that there are 3 members. 1stly, all of this new found reality fame has gone to peps head. I'm not sure if she's always been this annoying and pompus or if cheryl has jus always been blind to the facts or life or what. But its nice to see that spin stood up and pep in her place, because it was getting ridiculous. And I had the pleasure of interviewing spin a few months back. She's 1 of the nicest most down to earth people. And keeps it real....as evident of the show. I hope salt n pepa realize this finally, before its to late. Spin is very loyal, even thorugh all the nonsense she's a good1
