The Salt N' Pepa Show Ep. 3: You Ain't Got To Go Home, But... Y'all Know the Rest!

Posted on October 30, 2007 9:00 AM

What, it took them 'til the 3rd episode to officially admit that our girl Salt is a bit of a control freak?

Wow. You know what? I’ve come to realize now that the relationship between Salt n Pepa is very much like “older sister-younger sister”, or rather, “mother-daughter” and that was made EXTREMELY evident by last night's episode. I know you ladies can relate-- some way, somehow, this reminds me of situations I've been in with my own mother and sister. Go figure.

But the gist of this latest installment is that not only is Pep's Jersey home being remodeled, her new Theater District apartment which she purchased so that she could have somewhere to crash when she's too pissy to make it home isn't ready for her to crash momentarily at. SO GUESS WHO SHE TURNS TO?

You can only guess what kind of problems this brings about.

I'm not gonna say something foul like Pep and the 'burbs are opposites like... well... salt and pepper. That wouldn't be right.

BUT---

Not only does this chick bring her tit-poppin' portrait into her married friends' home, or decides to receive deliveries there as well...

but on the first night of... this chick decides to get hood with her "Uptown! Uptown!" cries and breaks out the dice for a game of Cee-lo. Needless to say, Den Mother Salt ain't happy about that. She even comes downstairs in her reading glasses to chastise her husband in front of their friends for allowing that behavior.

Now, here's my question of the day to the men on the board: Do y'all feel that Salt emasculated her husband by calling him out in front of Pep and the guys? I won't say what I think-- I want to know what Y'ALL think.

Anyways, this temporarily living situation isn't going well! In fact, Salt and Pepa have another one of their famous "discussions,"... but to me, it went pretty much like this:

Salt: You gotta be more responsible, this is bananas, yada dada dada , I got prayer meeting!
Pepa: ... you mean I didn’t lose my cell phone? Ohmygod, I was scared to death!

However, Pep does try to make amends to Salt and offers to clean up for Salt’s prayer meeting and says, rather enthusiastically, “I might even visit your prayer group!” to which, the other half of our dear hip-hop pioneer group replies with a tight smile that can only be translated to, “Please let Sandy trip over her stupid portrait and have to go to the hospital right before the meeting starts!” I just call it like I see it.

That prayer meeting was very interesting, wasn’t it? I’m telling you, the camaraderie between S-n-P can NOT be scripted. Salt would make a point about friendship and forgiveness and sure as anything, Pep would chime in from across the room and COMPLETELY put Salt on blast.

Gotta love these ladies. But in my opinion, they definitely need to listen to each other, and stop trying to diss each other with their selective deafness. I’m still pulling for y’all, ladies. I got to– I’m PRAYING that there’s a Salt N Pepa cd reunion CD in the works that will put these lame @$$ rap b*tches out right now to sleep, because if ya peeped the end of the episode... my girls STILL got it... they just need to let go of their issues, let God in, and let that inspiration and creativity out. It’s an S-N-P thang, BEEEEYOOOTCH!!!

NEXT WEEK: Spinderella shows up– it’s about DAMN TIME! But is there even MORE beef to cess through? CHECK IT OUT!

WE AIN'T DONE YET, Y'ALL!
Tomorrow I'm going to recap Irv Gotti (since obviously it has a following and I will TRY to do it hater-free), College Hill AND check out Keyshia Cole's show, which is airing TONIGHT 10:30 p.m. on BET. I've also decided that once in a blue I will recap The Boondocks-- especially if I find an interesting synopsis of that night's ep, I will DEFINITELY check it out.

But lastly, I promised Just My Thought a while back that I would post this video for Halloween. Well, I'm a day early, but that doesn't mean y'all won't appreciate it now! HERE IS THE FULL VERSION OF MICHAEL JACKSON'S "GHOST". HOLLA @TCHA GIRL!

WHO LOVES YA, BABY?

  • When are we going to say enuff is enuff. We watch these former celebrities at the brink of insanity becuase they do not have a following and they can afford to live the past lifestyle. They will do anything for shock value so they can be current news. I said it three weeks ago these "women" are disturbed and have issues. Television is not a place for these "ladies" to vent thier frustration and get help. Sometime just laughing at thier train wreck lives brings enjoyment to viewers because they know they are being exploited because they need the money. ( AND YES THEY DO NEED THE MONEY) I will do some real praying for these ladies unlike Salt trying to push Pep into her cult...oops my bad I meant church.

  • I side with Salt. True she might be a control freak, but that's her house! And how Pep gone purchase that apartment on the hopes that the reunion would bring her some money?? I won't even touch bringing a portrait of her titties into the house where Salt's husband and kids live....I think Pep needs to act like she's 40!

  • Breezy,

I didn't feel like Salt was emasculating her husband. She was just trying to shut down the noise. That being said her man had me cheering last night because he handled her like the king of the castle. Regardless of what she said he made the executive decision that he want to continue his rare fun time and "sent" her back to bed with a gentle push on the back. That is my kind of man! Hell no he wasn't emasculated. He proved he is the mother fuckin man up in that peice.

Pep mean while is CRAZY. I so want to hang out with her like twice a year. I couldn't take more than that. The girl knows how to have a good time. I liked her pic too. I might have to get me one.

  • Being living legends, means as long as their fans are alive they should be out in the public eye getting that gwap. There is definitely a demand for them so let them do their thing.

Plus Salt can never do no wrong in my eyes. She will forever be my dream girl. Ever since she stuck her booty out in that Push It video, I been a fan.

Long Live the Queens of HipHop!!!

  • What ever the reason for the show,I can say I enjoy watching it. Yes, it's mindless entertainment but a lesson can be taken away from every episode. I concur from personal experience, a sister relationship for sure. As far as Gavin, I think he handled the situation well but I would have said something to Pep first and then spoke to my husband about it on my way back upstairs not in front of the fellas. It looks as if a little fun is something that he's missing. Why didn't Salt consider one of his friends for Pep when she was playing match maker?

  • As a woman who usually roles her eyes at these brain-washed broads who believe that a woman should be "submissive", I do believe that Salt was out of line with her husband. He seems like a cool dude but sometimes her stuck-up ways rub off on him. She was on the steps talking to him like he was a child and he responded like he was an 11 year old boy. He didn't put his foot down and send her back to bed, he told her what she wanted to hear, then he tip-toed back into the dining room. I thought that it was cool that Pep can hang with the boys and play Bones and Ceelo. If I was Salt, I would have had my as* down there trying to learn how to play. She didn't have to drink.

What did I miss? All I heard him say was that they would stop in a little while. That was definately not what she wanted to hear. He did gently guide her up the stairs with his hand to shut her up. And the game continued against her wishes. He doesn't have to jump bad with her to be strong. The fact is his word was final and hers wasn't.

  • I am loving this show! It is not to over the top, it in no unbelievable, it is real. Pepa is a trip she is always herself and I don't see her changing. Salt is a control freak but I actually think Pepa needs that in her life! The prayer meeting is classic!
