Gotti's Way Ep. 3 and Keyshia Cole's The Way It Is Season 2 Premiere Recaps!

Posted on October 31, 2007 9:00 AM

I thought I would start off the recap with a bit of conversation

::Mama B comes in from work & I’m watching Gotti's Way ::

Mama B: What are you watching, I thought they canceled Growing Up Gotti .
Breezy: No ma, not the real Gottis. Irv Gotti’s show for the blog.
Mama B: Black Gotti’s?
Breezy: Yeah. He just calls himself Gotti, ma.
Mama B: Why are you watching this? What does he sing? WHO IS HE?

Heh, heh. True dialogue, I kid you not. And she's NOT a hater in the slightest.

Stiffen those upper lips, Gotti boys! If Daddy can keep a poker face while watching his empire possibly crumble... you can at least attempt NOT to cry during a kiddie playoff game!

(Or maybe your Dad’s just very good at playing off denial. Who knows.)

I know you guys gotta love Deb. I ain’t gonna lie, she’s very pretty. But her voice is kind of rough, isn't it? It's like staring at Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls, and then when you hear her speak, realizing that she smokes about 3 packs of Newports a day.
No wonder Irv questions the position she pees in.
(Gotta admit, that was funny, Irv-Lo!)

I love the comment that she makes, “We’re a traditional family from the outside looking in.” Actually, you’re QUITE that– I’m sure there’s plenty of families whose mommy and daddy no longer sleep together because a human c*m receptacle went public with the hubby's f*cking problem. It's aight Deb... don't worry. I'll give you a pass today, but if I catch you begging Irv-Lo back into your bed next week, you're gonna get it.

Well, a lot of this episode has to do with Deb & Irv’s difference in parenting styles. Lil' Sonny had a football game... he lost... he cried. Aww. It happens, boo! However, similar to Joe and Katherine... Deb doesn’t mind her boys crying, Irv thinks it makes them b*tches. Hmm... then how come you let Ja scream and howl all over his records? I'm just saying, dude. Even more, I’m just wondering if lil’ Sonny is destined for a Michael Jackson fate. Let’s hope not.

I think the “man-up” situation doesn’t exist only for boy children. It's a FATHER thing. Fathers don't want to see their children being weak, they want to make them "strong". I'm not hating on my own Dad's parenting styles, but when I did things and cried over a defeat, he too would tell me to "man up", albeit not in those words. And when I became of age... dare I not play the "I Had Cramps" card. That sh*t never worked.

I guess it's only fair to mention that another part of this ep has to deal with the release of Lloyd’s album, and it’s being pitted against Rich Boy and Musiq Soulchild... are any of you at all concerned? No? Okay, then I’ll move on.

Toward the end the episode, Irv does come at them in a calmer way and explains why he is so hard on them. Irv, I’m not trying to hate on your parenting skills, but all I have to say is this: The Jacksons. And I’ma leave it alone from there, buddy. It's in your hands now.

You know what? I’m going to make amends with you guys. There is a Murder Inc joint that is STILL my SH!T to this day. To me, this is the best thing Murder Inc ever did together as a whole. Sh!t, I was feeling this video so much I even wore my hair like Ashanti’s pratically that entire summer... yes I said that, damnit! Click the link below to check it out.

WANNA MAKE SOMETHING OF IT?

NEXT WEEK: The reason why Vanessa Carlton was a draft pick... and why Irv’s “gotta have his cake and eat it too.” Mmm... that one’s definitely worth a recap.

KEYSHIA COLE: The Way It Is Season 2 Premiere

Prior to this season’s premiere, I hadn’t taken out the time to catch The Way It Is, despite the constant urging by one of my girlfriends for me to check it out. But the gist of what I got of it is that it’s slightly different from other reality shows. Keyshia’s not offering up her life for possible ridicule, she’s offering it up so that people can get a more in depth look into who she is (no titty-poppin’ portraits here). For this reason, I will write this recap as much sensitivity as I can muster.

So, it seems as if Miss Keyshia has moved her presently clean mother, Frankie, and her sister Neffie (along with a WHOLE BUNCHA KIDS) to her home in Atlanta. In the beginning of the episode, they are all sitting around watching clips from last season, which include testimonials from the Mom and the sister. From the look on her face, you can tell that Keyshia’s happy to provide for her family, but a little wary about it, as well. Both of them have battled their addictions (Frankie to hard drugs, Neffie to alcohol) and she’s probably not trusting them 100%. And honestly, who can blame her? But she gets major props from me because she’s going with her heart instead of her mind.

What was a major turnoff was when Keyshia announced to them that they wouldn’t be having males in the house and her sister’s like, “what, are we in jail? Don’t we get conjugal visits?” WHOA, CHICK! Mama also has a problem with this edict, as well. Call me crazy, but aren’t they trying to get THEMSELVES situated and turn over new leaves? Why even WORRY about a man coming into a situation like that when you don’t have your own ish together to begin with? D*ck ain’t that important for you to feel trapped when your successful sister offers you a SAFE AND CLEAN place to lay your head at night. I don’t mean to come off as cold as that sounded, but that part REAAAAALLLLLY bothered me. Thoughts?

So, the next day, Frankie and Neffie get makeovers. Frankie is also treated to new teeth, which improve her looks A LOT. Neffie is sitting in the chair getting her hair curled (acting rather ghetto, if you ask me) and then the hairstylist drops THE BOMB:

“Where your husband at?”

Apparently, she discovered her husband’s infidelity to her with her first cousin, and proceeds to inform everyone about how it caused her downward spiral into hard liquor, “and now she drinks champagne.” Uhhhh.... okay.

The premiere ended with Keyshia giving a family dinner right before her promotional tour to thank her family for coming to live with her.

I have to say, I have a newfound respect for this girl after watching this show. She probably has all the reason in the world to turn her back on her family, but she didn’t. That takes guts and strength– ESPECIALLY when the entire world is watching & judging. Let’s just hope for her sake, that she won’t come to regret her decision.

College Hill recap will be bumped with Run's House on Friday!

Holla @tcha girl!

WHO LOVES YA, BABY?

  • I had to call my mom when all that went down with the house rules...lol

Neffie and Mommy were talking about how thankful they were to be in ATL with Keyshia and her taking care of them for the moment to help them get off their feet...then KeyCole drops the bomb "I haven't had in men in the house and I don't want yall having no men in the house" KABOOOOOM!

They were looking like the exorcist for real Neffie goes from "I am so thankful blah blah blah to damn we can't get no conjugal visits?" LOL

And IF Frankis is truly trying to get herself together a MAN should be the last thing on her mind and if you want some dick that bad - GET A ROOM!

My brother just came to live with me and I have an 11 year old - any sex he wants to have has to be done in the nearest Holiday Inn b/c it aint going down in my crib where me & my hubby are currently paying the bills. Ain't happening!

But I HAVE mad respect for Keyshia - she has been through but thank God she had her music.

  • I respect Keyshia and all....but I wouldn't showcase my mom's problems like that. It's not about being ashamed or trying to hide something, I just wouldn't let the world laugh at my mama even if she was a crack head

  • I enjoyed Keyshia Cole's new show...I feel that a lot of people can relate to exactly what she's going thru...however I find it odd that they (mom and sis) just randomly blurt out bizness to hairstyles and what not...I mean DAMN!!! First rule in the beauty salon is keep ya lips sealed!!! But I guess its for TV purposes...I guess...

And Neffie didn't say she "drinks champagne" now...she says she drinks "wine" which if you WERE drinking multiple 40's of Olde E daily is a huge step.

Overall, its looks to be a good show...

    I'll pass on Gotti's Way...not interested...

  • Yeah Yeah says...
  • Before last night I was really hating on Keysh, comparing her to Mary and not giving her a chance. But after last night I have new found respect for homegirl. She still needs a major attitude adjustment and personal growth, but I wanna see her win! I fucks wit her for dealing with reality and not leaving her peeps behind. She came off as bein more mature than I originally thought.

  • Keisha Cole does not live in Atlanta, she lives n Milton, Georgia which is a good 45 to an hour north of the city. BET put all those clips of downtown in between the scenes to make it look that way, but Milton, GA isnt anywhere near any of that stuff. She lives closer to the KKK, pickup driving rednecks in the mountains than Atlanta

  • I found it rather rude for her sister and her mom to act like her laying rules down made it feel like they were in jail.

If I recall...(no disrespect) Bitch! Did you just not get out of jail?!!! There wasn't no dick readily available in the joint, so what would make you think your child would let you get your sexyback in the house she's paying for?

Hell, if Jeezy can't come to the crib neither can any dusty ass niggas y'all find be there either. I have a bad feeling that she's gonna have to (no pun intended) Let 'em Go. For her own good.

  • I agree. The way that Neffie and Frankie responded to Keshia's rule about no men in the house was the most ignorant, selfish and ungrateful thing that I have seen in a long time. This woman has you living in a nice house, rent-free, getting your hair done so you can feel good about yourself and you're worried about bringing a man there? And on top of that, Neffie's young daughters are living there and the last thing they need to see are strange grown men sitting on the couch drinking Hennessy. If you live in someone's house, respect the rules, especially when Keshia abides by the rules also. If you want some penis, meet him at the Hotel or go to his crib. What respectable man would want to be up in the house that your sister let you stay in?Sounds to me like Keshia will be put in the situation where she'll have to show them just how ungrateful they are.
