One of my friends made an interesting comment to me the other day, stating, "Why you never talk about 50 Cent or G-Unit? You scared of them or something?" Yeah, this friend is an @$$hole. But, someone called me last night and told me about Fif hosting Rap City on Friday, so I thought I'd throw some of those clips on here. I guess I feel sorry for him, being that 'Ye is smacking the sh!t out him right now with album sales.
But anyway, I did some research and I found two Rap City clips for y'all to check out.
The first one features 50 talking abut the five emcees he'd "eliminate" (sidebar: Come on, Fif. Nas?? GET REAL!)
I have to admit something to y'all-- he couldn't get it, but I have a weird lil' crush on Young Buck. It started ever since I attended that horrible show 106 & Park when Beg For Mercy just came out and I fell for that charismatic character.
But damn... he definitely made sure he got in his camera time. And on the flip side, WHY THE HELL did Lloyd Banks even show up? I mean, I know the OBVIOUS reasons (for all you dumb@$$es that are soo eager to head straight to the comments box to tell me off) but for real, he's acting like don't even give a damn about why he's there, sh*t, does he even KNOW he's there?
This next clip is of the freestyle the entire G-Unit crew put down on the show. They caught me off guard with that Swizz "World War III" beat-- I COMPLETELY FORGOT this song existed, and I used to go CRAZY everytime I heard this drop. This is definitely one of those beats that you simply MUST have a great delivery when you're rapping over it. Which is why the best freestyle has to go to Young Buck. And what was up with Prodigy? I was feelin' his, but then he ended on that odd note. ::shrugs::
I actually don't mind watching 50 on television. If he really decides to throw in the towel, he should contemplate a television career-- but please, spare us a G-Unit Channel... I wouldn't be able to take that. And back to Buck: yes, I liked his freestyle, but that "I'm the Martin Luther King of the hood" threw me, just like when Beyonce sang "I can do for you what Martin did for the people." Please, entertainers, unless its completely relevant, LEAVE our leaders' names OUT of your lyrics.
I also have another question to ask y'all regarding 50...
Did anyone attend the 5 Boroughs Tour at the Hammerstein Ballroom? If so, was it as mediocre as the video leads me to believe? (The performance, NOT the audience hype).
So, I just saw the video for Kelly Rowland's second single off her album, "Ghetto", feauting Snoop Dogg. I tried to like this song-- I REALLY did. But I can't. The video is also very... glittery, yet uninspired. "Soldier" this video is not. I think it might've been a lil' better if Snoop were rockin' some Shirley Temples. What do y'all think?
Is it me, or does the acting AND singing in this video kind of remind you of Ciara and 50's "I Can't Leave 'Em Alone"? And the blue eyeshadow has to go, go, go. Come on, Kelly. Obviously Tina Knowles is no longer styling you.
To wrap up this blog, check out the first single from Chaka Khan's 2007 album, Funk This. The song's called "Disrespectful", and features Mary J. Blige. This song is hot as hell! Chaka STILL got it, please believe it!

Kanye is not out-selling 50. Pre-sales count as 1st week sales and 50 was leading by a good amount. The figures released have been estimates of 1st week sales by the same people who said Jay-Z was on pace to sell over 1 million. Wait until we have the official numbers.
Secondly fuck 1st week sales. 50 is going to sell more in general anyway. Kanye's album SUCKED. 50 will sell 8-10 million worldwide and Kanye around 2-3 million.
As far as Wayne doing damage, dude shut up. Wayne takes over a year to go platinum and he has a ton of little kids feeling his verses but nobody supports him. Plus he's an easy target for all the homo shit he's done and what Buck knows about him. Even if Buck makes shit up everyone will believe him. Oh, don't forget Wayne is BY HIMSELF and G-Unit is deep and allied with a lot of artist who hate Wayne (such as Luda).
I bought 50's album Saturday, and yeah, it was VERY disappointing. There's really only one song on it worth repeating (movin on up). But the equivalent to a mediocre 50 album is a superb Richboy or Jim Jones album, so i don't regret buying it.
I tried to get into that Kelly Rowland song, but it's obvious that she has never steped foot in a ghetto for her to be making those type of songs about it. I grew up in and around the hood, and there aint no glitter everywhere, just poverty and crime. Most of the people with grillz and 64's are drug dealers. White people gonna look at this video and think "why black people complaining about the ghetto, it don't look that bad'.

I'm 33 years old. I've been listening to HIP HOP ever sinse I can remember. That said, HIP HOP is not dead. HIP HOP has morphed into a tool used by a select few to make money for themselves. Now, I'm a fan of CAPITALISM. But, HIP HOP used to get folks fired up for change. It made us WANT to fight for rights. Hell, HIP HOP made us want to party. Now what do we have? We have artist pulling stupid stunts before their album is released. We have artists throwing pussy-assed tantrums at tv networks. How many artists are we gonna see this year be thrown in jail or involved in a shootout?
My point? HIP HOP, as far as I'm concerned, will be put on the back burner. I already know what these fools are gonna say. In Kanye West's defense, that dude comes with CREATIVITY and IMAGINATION. His music lets the consumer know that he tried to put out the best work that he could. Same for Common. Same for groups like Little Brother. But the rest of EAST coast, WEST coast, and SOUTHERN artists are too predictable. Same lyrics....different beat. Even the beats seem recycled. I'm gonna say this again. As far as music goes, BLACK folks are no longer ignorant to the fact that certain artists use beef to sell mediocre records. If a sucka creates beef with another sucka before his record is released, that tells me that the sucka did not put his heart and soul into that record. Think about that shit. Why should the consumer give a shit because a recording artist has a problem with another recording artist? These artists portray themselves as ALPHA males. But really they're bitches. And intelligent BLACK folks on every COAST see this.
All I'm saying is that I wish that these suckas put some heart into their art. I'll buy records if I know the release date and I hear no sideline bullshit from the artist before their record is released. That's it. It's just that simple.

Georgia occupies Houston, Flordia occupies San Antiono and New York occupies Dallas while California takes the other half of Texas.
