Voice of the Young People? Well, judging from that lil' chicken noodle soup-ish jig she did at the top of the video, she's definitely trying to go hard for the streets -- Sesame Street, that is.
Before I get into this hot garbage, let me start by stating MY position on Lil' Mama. I know peeps HATED "Lip Gloss", but I was feeling it because of the age-appropriateness. Sh*t, give her some credit, at least she's waiting until she's legal to rap about the joys of taking back shots.
But this? This is just... a massacre of a kiddie classic. Seriously, how you gonna be all singy and snappy with one half of the chorus-- and then give it the Three-6 Mafia 3 "Satan" beat treatment the next? Imagine you being five and hearing that-- wouldn't you be scared to listen ot that song at night?
Now I'm convinced: the "Chateau Mama" establishment is really the "Nursery Rhyme Slaughterhouse"-- every song you learned sitting on the big magic carpet comes here to die.
Most importantly, someone needed to TAKE THEM DAMN DOORKNOCKERS OFF THAT LITTLE GIRL THAT LIL' MAMA POPPED UPSIDE THE HEAD. What in the glossy hell? That sh*t is not cute. Mannn, that gave me a flashback to the time I saw a two year old boy with name-plate earrings in both ears, I really wanted to smack the taste out of his seventeen-year-old mother and then call Child Welfare. Anyway...
Even though this video and song SUCKS, I say, she might have potential. And I'm not saying she can't be "the voice of the young people." She just need to stop doing things that end in ('in). MEANING:
STOP

--glossin' (especially when she did it in this video... UGH!)

And cancel PBS, Nick Jr., Noggin, and The Disney Channel from your cable subscription. They don't need to inspire ANY future melodies or lyrics.

I aint a fan of Lil Mama but I give her props for playing her lane. She is who she says she is. She aint rapping about things that are beyond her age bracket. She aint sucking dick (on record at least) she aint hopping from different dudes, she aint pushing drugs, she aing bussin guns. She partying. And imo she got flow. She can dance, she can sing, she can rap. She got talent. The video was nice. Kinda corny in the beginning but overall the song was nice. She plays to her age and she makes music for her crowd. I respect that. She don't seem like a gimmick to me and might even have some staying power if she continues to do what she does.
