Celebrity Rap Superstar: Gettin' Down Throwback Style

Posted on September 7, 2007 9:00 AM

Aight, before I get into the recap, I just want to say that I read ALL of the comments you guys left last week about how this show is killing hip-hop and what not. I say– it ain’t that serious. Just think of it as karaoke... that’s basically what this is. How is this different from what you do in front of your mirror, pretending to be Michael Jackson, Salt-N-Pepa or even Diddy (like you ain’t never tried to do the Harlem Shake, even though you were 23 when it came out).

I mean... look at it, for goodness sakes.

Getting aggy over this is like sending hate mail to Nick Cannon because no one on Wild 'N Out is actually that funny.

Enough of my defending this crap. Anyway, tonight's episode is a little different because 1) the judges didn't get save anyone from being eliminated next week and 2) this time around, the celebs got to choose their own song to perform. Most of them performed hip-hop classics, which was interesting enough to watch.

And-- BIG SHOCK-- Jamal Anderson got voted off. How is it possible that he's gone-- but not-so-fly-for-a-white-guy and Pedro got to stay? Aww well. The worst part was, he looked like he was REALLY hurt when he got eliminated, like he didn't have a REAL career to fall back on. Aww, well, sucks for him.

So let's break down the remaining contestants' performances.

Sebastian Bach-- We learn in the little video clip that he almost didn’t get on the plane before the first show because he was that shook. Too bad Jason Wahler didn’t feel that way. Anyway, Sebastian chose Tupac and Dr. Dre’s “California Love”. You can’t exactly call him Tu-BACH, but he DID try. Basically he rocked it like... a rockstar. I mean, if they were doing a remix of this song, it would’ve been perfect. I enjoy watching him more than I like watching some of the others, though.

Shar Jackson-- Or should I say, Shar-JAYZEE? Apparently, she got her "rapper-naming technique" from K-Fed, because when I heard that, I just said "WHAT THE F*CK?!" But anyway, "to prove that last week wasn't a fluke," Shar chose to perform Eminem's "My Name Is". She claimed it was a hard to learn, but she must've never heard Em's verse on B.I.G.'s "Dead Wrong", because THAT SH*T IS HARD AS FUTHERMUCKA to repeat. But, needless to say, she did her thing. She needs to come and do Hip Hop Karaoke night at The Knitting Factory, ASAP.

I had to give it to Da Brat though:

"What is with you and these white rappers?"

Quote of the Day!

Perez Hilton-- Perez, Perez, Perez....WHAT THE F*CK WAS UP WITH THAT BEST BUY TAG ON YOUR GLASSES? He is CONSTANTLY dispelling the myth that gay men have good fashion sense. He picked Kanye's "Jesus Walks", and he looked MAAAD angry while performing-- like he was gonna summon The Gay Mafia to beat DMC's @$$ if he gave him bad criticism. It was ooooooookay.

Countess Vaughan-- She is the girliest lil' thing! I had to laugh when Warren G kept telling her "to watch her pinkie". I don't know why she chose MIMS' "This Is Why I'm Hot", but it WORKED for her. I was sooo feelin' her onstage swagger, even her B-Boy Stance at the end. She was the best one of this episode, hands down. Plus, her lip gloss was poppin'! ::Giggles:: Yeeah-uh!

Kendra Wilkinson-- How coincidental is it that she picked De La's "Me, Myself and I" to perform the day after I chose it for yesterday's Throwback? I guess, from the way she was feeling about the way DMC judged her last week, it made sense for her to pick this one. She did aw’ight, she was more focused on reciting than performing. And her outfit was WAY better than that horrible football whore getup she worse last week.

Jason Wahler-- Why is he still on the show? His version of LL's "Goin' Back 2 Cali" was boring. But hey-- at first, when they announced the title, I got scared-- I thought he was gonna try and do B.I.G.'s version! But yeah, it was very... YAWN. Sidebar-- Bubba Sparxxx is a cute white guy. I wonder if he and Shar JAYZEE fool around once the cameras stop rolling.

Efren Ramirez-- Hoo boy. There must've be, like, a million Napoleon Dynamite fans watching this show because HE was horrible (albeit I think I like him better than Jason Wahler). Efren took it back with Cypress Hills' "Insane In The Membrane" (I think that's gonna be a future Throwback Thursday). His performance was better than last week, but he's definitely on the chopping block. And, I see Bizarre is still sporting ugly @ss headgear. I think I'm going to have to start doing a "Bizarre's Weekly Fugly Hat Recap" because I can't believe he walks out of his house like that. THEM BLUE AND YELLOW PURPLE PILLS ARE RUINING YOUR JUDGEMENT! Seriously, Bizarre... if you have sausage rolls at the back of your head, just let 'em flap. Don't try to cover them up with some old 1980's curtains or somethin'. That sh!t don't rock.

You know what would make this show interesting? If, for one episode, they let the viewers pick which song the celeb should perform. I would LOVE to see one of them try to perform "Woo-Hah! Got You All In Check." But I guess that's just my weird mind.

Aight, I'm out fam. Enjoy your weekend-- and don't forget to catch up with me for that VMA recap first thing Monday morning. Peace.

WHO LOVES YA BABY?
