Eve f/ Sean Paul-- "Give It To You"

Posted on August 1, 2007 9:00 AM

Aight, fellas. Got some eye candy for y'all today.

Can I just say that I'm feeling Eve's look these days?

Before this blog, I never really had a platform to say what I felt about Eve's image. And I'm woman enough to come out and say, that pitbull be lookin' mad ill in them skirts. I wasn't feeling her short blonde cut when she first came out, the pink hair was like, aight, whatever, but she's HOT now; the hair and clothes are on point. BUT, FROM WHAT I NOTICED, NO ONE BUYS FETISH ANYMORE... RIGHT? ::shrugs::

It's really nothing much to this video (or the song, for that matter), it's not complicated. Eve and Sean-a-Paul are in (assuming) Jamaica, flirting with each other and mashing it up in a club.
NOTE TO EVE: I love you girl, especially that you're trying to sex it up now, but you ain't gonna dance. PLEASE. STOP.

Sean Paul... this muthaf*cka has a strong hustle, for real. It's like he senses when a song is gonna be a hit in the production phase, and since his sh*t doesn't APPEAR to sell, he thinks, "Oh, me gon' get 'pon de track to keep it mooore fiiyyaaaaah wit de yankees." I really just don't understand how we, as consumers, continue to let it go on as long as it has. He finagles his way with the eye candies, such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Sasha ("Come on Sasha! Come sing for dem, bay-bay!" Wait. She was on HIS track. But STILL), sparks an L, drops a quick line such as:

"YO YO YO YO YO...SEAN-A-PAUL WIT (insert female singer name here) KEEPIN IT LIVE YADUNKNOW....JAMAICA YO! GIVE EM A RUN, AY! WHINE IT UP, AY!"

And the reggae clubs GO WILD PON DE REPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!

ON TOP OF THAT....

HE DOES THE VIDEO FOR THE SINGLE -- I MEAN, HE APPEARS IN IT, BUT DOES NOTHING. If we're lucky, he MIGHT pop his shoulder out of its joint-- once or twice.

Everybody's got a muthaf*ckin game going.

Seriously, do you enjoy freakin' on the dancefloor to: "Baby Boy"? "Break It Off?" "(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me"?
Then you've been had.

But what the f*ck do I know, anyway? I can't get this song out of my head.

  • Future aka never will be...you can post what you want but you're just posting bullshit. Everything I ever stated about you is true.

You are a 20 year old ITT Tech would be graduate who takes classes from home and posts a "blog" on a FREE website because he has no job. Oh yeah, ITT tech takes up all of your time so you can't even work PART TIME even though you're 20 right? Is that why you can't afford $5 a month to pay for a real web host?

Breezy, wrap up your comments early. Shit was 2 paragraphs too long. After you said there's not much to say about the video, the next paragraph should have been the conclusion. Damn, did you skip English class. You kinda went on a tangent about Sean Paul.
    PEACE

  • I am just not feeling this new kick Eve is on. This is the second release from her album and the second one I didn't like. The videos be cute and all, but the songs be so corny I can't even watch the damn video for more than a few seconds. I have always loved her style. She is one of very few celebs whose style I bite from time to time becuase she doesn't dress like everyone else.

If you missed *Future*'s recap of Monday's Making the Band 4 you have got to check that out. Dude killed that one.

  • i really lie eve a lot, but i think she need's to quit rapping. the last thing hip-hop needs is some yellow-bitch trying to act hard "Keisha Cole" comes to mind...

i can respect eve for being a strong woman, but i wouldn't say that she is a black woman, she's too damn light. what i hate the most is light bitches taking the polace of our strong black intlectual sista's. but eve is cool though, she is still a sterotype that dosen't fit the black community, and i think everyone will agree with me on that one.

  • clealy "Half-minded intelligence" is lacking just that -- intelligence.

i could come at u with some "don't be mad at me cuz my ancestors were so fly that 'massa had to get a piece" but then i would sound just as ignorant as you -- and thats not my style cuz i personally believe that black is beautiful... ALL SHADES.

so u should really stop bitter and self-hating and learn to embrace your black beauty as well as that of your black sisters, be they yellow, red boned, or blue-black.

we get hated on enough by everyone else, why we gotta rip at each other too??

I have no comments on the dancing, though.. She should really stick to her talents.

The song in itself may be a little week, but hey, it'll get great play on MTV or somethin'..

  • Just for the record bc it erks me when people speak publicly w/out having done research on their topics: Sean Paul's first US release Dutty Rock (the one w/ Gimmie The Light) was certified Double Platinum in the US and reportedly sold over 6 mill worldwide. The followup Trinity (w/ We Be) was certified Platinum in the US and reportedly sold over 4 mill worldwide. Not a fan of Sean Paul (don't have any albums), just like people to be informed.
