Making The Band 4.7-- "When You Got So Much Talent and You Drop The Ball, You Definitely Get Traded!"

The title of today's blog says it all, y'all.
That's exactly what happened.Diddy cut off Julius and Carlos.
I don't know how y'all feel about this, but watching this episode was actually bittersweet. I guess it's kind of because I know it's close to the end, and they got rid of some really talented guys this time around. But really... who else would it have been?
Plus, (DARE I SAY) I kind of miss Star Kitty. about (__)that much.
Before I address the Julius and Carlos situations individually, there's a couple of things I want to discuss first.
Starting with this new choreographer dude Jamal. He's minimal drama. In fact, at times he didn't even seem like he was alert. Compared to Laurie, that is. She makes him look like his whole attitude was, "yeah, y'all gotta do that dance, do that dance, do it. What the f*ck, I don't care." As far as looks go, this dude is fine. BUT... he is a member of the Diddy elite, and we ALL KNOW what you have to do to be a member of the Diddy elite. Just ask Usher, that's why he's so f*cked up now, don't know whether or not he wants to be engaged to his transvestite-looking fiancee.
But I digress.
One thing you gotta give Jamal credit for was helping Donnie get over his "I Dont Wanna Be Black, I Just Want Y'all To Feel My Blue-Eyed Soul" hang ups, because honestly that sh*t was starting to get annoying as hell. We all know you're white-- buck up and just do the damn thing. Hey, you gotta work extra hard to prove yourself as a legit r&b performer, we gotta work extra hard to prove ourselves anywhere outside of entertainment and sports. AM I RIGHT?
Also, noticed that Bee Cocks was back in the hiz-zouse. But I got a question: has anyone noticed that Joe was supposed to be apart of the judging team, but has yet to be seen past the first two episodes? Or are my eyes deceiving me? Anyway, Bryan Michael Cox comes and introduces to our guys the track that is currently the theme song of the show. This is funny, because before the show even came on tonight I was like, "this sounds like some sh*t Diddy couldn't even break a champagne bottle over Slim's head and make him sing." But they all like it, especially Big Mike, who was shown on camera cheesing like it was dessert time, talking about "the clubs gonna feel it." No disrespect to the South, but really, y'all could make a song saying "Take A Sh*t on The Floor, and Sit In It, WHAAAT!" and it would be fire on Friday nights. DOESN'T MAKE IT A GOOD TRACK, THOUGH.
Aight, so basically the guys have their usual dance/singing showcase and Carlos and Julius ain't cuttin' it, ergo, the results of tonight's cuts.
JULIUS-- He's an old soul, so this lyric is appropriate: "Momma told me one day it was gonna happen, but she never told me when..."
I mean, wasn't it obvious that Diddy REALLY didn't want son to be in the group? He might've been unique in the beginning but he wound up being a nuisance later down the line. When the man said "I'm sick of praying with you, over you," you shoulda knew what was up then, Ju. And the editing during his showcase-- it was like watching Lloyd and Freddy P from Da Band fight all over again-- a hot mess. Damn. But Ju's got talent though-- he's gonna do well elsewhere, believe that.
CARLOS-- SO CARLOS CAN TALK! This was like, the first episode that they showed Carlos doing anything other than nodding his head silently to Diddy saying, "you get to keep your bed." But guess what? He does have a personality, and he's in love with his babymama/fiance, Josaira. Unfortunately, it is revealed that the baby might have Down's Syndrome. Watching Carlos cry was painful. Unfortunately, Carlos' private woes interfered with his performances at the showcase. His heart wasn't in it, but you can't just go to Diddy and tell him about your potentially sick baby. This the SAME N*GGA that left his baby momma before his twin girls could even stop getting the titty on tap, for goodness sake!
Actually, now that I think about it, I'm glad Carlos got cut. Your alliance lies elsewhere at this time, dog. You're a good man. Focus on your family.
See, like I said...you can't even go at the guys the way you want to just because of the overall tone of the episode. AM I THE ONLY THAT FEELS THIS WAY? If not, speak your mind
NEXT WEEK: The Season Finale... WHO'S GONNA MAKE IT? (and will Big Mike prove Diddy wrong by losing ALL the weight?)

I felt like you Diddy. In light of Carlos' situation it would be impossible to clown him and I pray I don't see any jokes about his child.
Julius on the other hand when out like a sucka. He's a crybaby that gave up. Not to mention I didn't think he was a great singer anyway compared to some of the other guys in the house. He often sounds like he is screaming and struggling. Furthermore, he deleted his MySpace page yesterday in apparent shame.
Carlos may have never talked, but at least he got a lot of camera time. What's up with Brian H? He never gets any shine. I don't know him at all. Dyshon gets a lot of camera time, but he never gets to do those little solo sessions with the cameraman.
I have picked my group at this point.
Dyshon - He is by far the best and most professional singer in the house in my opinion. I'm scared for him because his personality is a little blah which is probably why none of the dream team picked him for their ideal group.
Willie - He is a great singer and he brings the sexy effortlessly. He's just a sexy cat.
Robert - I held out on dude becuase of that June drama, but the fact is dude can sing and he has personality for days.
Qwanell/Mike - I'm divided here. I just think Que is adorable and I am rooting for him because of that. Mike is the better singer, but I just don't think he gels with the rest of my pics. I am proud of him for losing the weight (recent pics of him in Times Square hit the net a week or so ago), but I'm just not sure about him.

I try to put Donny in the back of my mind in hopes that he will go away. He shouldn't make the band for the same reason Dan shouldn't. They are not natural R&B singers. They are just doing what is asked of them for the show. This is supposed to be an R&B group and I would hate for a true R&B singer to lose his shot for Donny. Plus his hair gets on my last nerve. It reminds me of that dude from I Love NY who raped New York's dog.

I had all of my favorite MTB4 guys in my MySpace friends except Mike because his page is REAL shitty. Julius disappeared yesterday. When I tried to go to it, I got this message:

Diddy didnt come off as a little Diva this episode. Saddened by Laurie's departure perhaps...

First and foremost the urban american idol is a nice show to show diddy and all his riches, truth be told! But the mere fact is that bad boy is hurting, i haven't seen a real group come out of that camp in so long, everything is flopping! Can't believe I'm about to say this but the 15 minutes of fame is almost up. Cherri Dennis, sean john, carl thomas, what about the previous making the band jump off's not to mention B5? Diddy needs some help! Truth be told I almost sent in that video trying to become his new assistant, sorry I bumped my head, but dude really falling off! He's better off doing what got him there! Finding a real mc, unlike mase more like big, just someone who's relevant for this time. Who would buy a babs album or more or less ness? It ain't looking good for bad boy! Where's Dylan (that chapelle episode was hilarious) oh and that bad boys of comedy (garbage). He got money off of Run's house but other than that everything catching bricks. It's crazy because Julius and Carlos were my initial favorites. After each episode, Julius got more and more lackluster but Carlos was still killin it until his personal life got to him. I felt bad for duke, and I wanted to see him make the band. As far as Julius, ehh...he's better off solo anyway.
So who do I think should make the band...right now, I think DeAngelo is the best voice in the house. My band would be:

That episode was really good. That Carlos shit had me down. But it made me happy he got cut because he has other things to be worried about. I didn't realize how fine he was either to that episode, cuz you're right Breezy, he didn't get any camera time in the beginning...
I'm not too sure who I think the final four is going to be but I'm guaranteeing Qwanell and Robert have spots in the group.
And for some reason, every time I look at Robert, I keep saying that he looks like Tevin Campbell's lost relative lol

I agree with most of your comments except for the part when someone said that Julius went out like a b*tch. I think that Julius is Julius and he's going to be alright. My favorites are Deangelo, Dyshon, Mike, Willie, Qwanell. I kind of feel bad for my favorites because they are doomed if they sign to Bad Boy. They might as well kiss their careers goodbye. Will he continue to treat them like flunkies once they make the band? And Everybody's jumping on the Robert bandwagon but for some reason, I'm just not feeling him. If I went to one of their concerts (which we all know there won't ever be a concert to go to), I would be so irritated to see Robert on stage performing. I don't know if it's his mannerims or what. I felt for Carlos. I hope that his baby is healthy and that he gets a chance to get signed and make his dreams come true.
All I can say is that from a PR basepoint Diddy made the wrong decision. Even Slam as an A&R should know you need to target different target groups, e.g. Donnie for the caucasian women/fans, Carlos for the latin fans, and the rest for all....I know in some way this band will fall. Talent is not everything, yeh you can be a good singer but you need an image. yes this show pre-recorded, however if only Diddy knew about the fan base Carlos had. You may think I'm biased but that's the deal. All Diddy had was biggie, Bad Boy as a label since has not acheived much success...

I personally feel that this was the best season of making the band. I admit that at first I was irritated with the beginning but now it has become very interesting since its down to the wire. Across the board all the young men are talented that goes without saying but some have more star quality than others and unfortunately its not just about looks. Although image sell at the end of the day real talent prevails. I felt for Carlos not only did I think he was talented he grinded hard. I mean this man was homeless and was still trying to get that spot light. But at the end of the day he let his weakness overcome him, NO matter what you go through it should never be displayed in your performance. And I personally think thats why Diddy cut him I mean just think do you know how many things stars have to deal with and they still have to keep pushing on thats the beauty of being a performer thats what you do you perform even when things are messed up you have to stay focused. People need to learn that all your burdens belong to God it is not for us to fight battles. We have to pray trust and believe in God's will. My heart and prayers goes out to Carlos and his family. My personal picks for the band is Robert- hands down the brother's talented, Im like how Diddy said when he sings he gives goose bumps and send chills you can feel his voice in a song and he can move. Willie- is talented as well and naturally brings sexy to the goup with his personality and charm. Que- is talented and great performed, easily molded because he's young and he able to take critizism without throwing a tantrum he just goes with this flow and his dance moves and voice is like fluid it runs smoothly. Mike- this is a very dedicated talented brother he's great at ad libs he truly works his ass off to achieve that star quality every challenge Diddy put up against him he accepted and conquered. He believes personally he is the most versitile of all of them vocally ( Robert is definitely a runner up in the versitile vocals as well) he can blend with backgrounds and leads so he can do well as a solo or in the group. I was with Brian until he showed how much of a cry baby he can be just about some hair I lost some respect for dude after that. Donnie does not fit he more for pop not r&b he tries really hard and I respect him for that but maybe he will fit more in for making of the band for backstreet boys or o- town. The rest really don't stand out which is problem when you in a competition. So thats how i feel about the making the bands picks its up to all of to vote on who we want. But to all the gentleman in the competition may God continue to have annoiting in your life you have been blessed and favored even to make it to the top ten. For starters...MTB 4 has officially put monday nights back on the map for MTV. Nothing good ever came on Monday's so that's good. Now with the talent he has on teh show this season, he could have a group and leave the others in for future artist development. Why throw away talent when you don't have to? But my picks for the Band go as such: 1)Robert- hands down! the man has the best and most consistent voice. He did a crazy run on the final sing off (it was sick). 2)Qwanell- Personality, voice, looks. He has the image to sustain and the voice to maintain. Plus he has such a great personality. 3)Deangelo- don't sleep, he cut off the braids and was actually the second best vocal on the live performance for New Edition. Plus he provided great energy for the group. 4)"Big" Mike- every great group had someone who was far from skinny (think dru-hill and boyz II men) and could hold their own. But not only did mike improve his image he has a fantastic recordable voice that will sell records.

This is by far the best year for Making the band. Diddy, you really did it this time. Not only did you select a group of mean with talent, you selected a group that has a love for God. The first thing out of Roberts' mouth was praise, and in his word he says, "when praises goes up, blessings come down". This Group will be a force to reckon with, just as you said. Continue to lead them in the right way, and continue to allow them to acknowledge God. Brain Andrews is my heart, During the entire time that he was up for judgement, he kept his faith in God. When you whole on to the source of your being, he will never let you down. Donnie, wow, he's going to do a wonderful job. Justin Timberlake, watch out, theres a new Hunk On The Block. Great job Diddy, you used your head and your heart with that pick. He's going to blow up. Willie, Que, and my baby Mike, yes, another great choice. Mike was sexy being as a big guy, and even more sexier now. I wish that you could keep this group on air to be an example to other upcoming artist that are trying to make a band or just go solo. These young men had drive and determination, and when they were pushed, they didn't give up. That's what it takes to make it. I wish all 10 could have made it. DeAngelo and Jeremey, those young men are great, and I know it was hard leaving them out. Brain Harris and Dyshun, wonderful, I pray that they continue to follow their heart, and I would really like to see Dyshun do gospel.
