That was basically my reaction to watching this horrendously-boring BET "docudrama."
Wow, so BET is trying to prove that they care about teens' lives-- not just convincing them to drop it like it's hot.
Oh wait, my bad-- they only care about the ones who can AFFORD the lifestyle that they heavily endorse.
First of all: Who was the executive that watched ATL ten times and thought, "you know, if there was a show dedicated to the lives of people like New-New (Erin), the sh*t would be poppin'?" Give that individual a pink slip -- ASAP! No severance check for you, buddy.
Seriously, I couldn't even get into this show. Back in the day, I was able to mess with "Clueless" a bit because it was ORIGINAL at the time, but now shows like "Laguna Beach" and v"The O.C." don't really pique my interest because they're not realistic. Neither is this one-- THE WHOLE THING SOUNDS SCRIPTED. Too forced! I felt like I was watching one of those stupid Arabesque "Fire & Desire" films, but instead of using typical actors like Lisa Raye and Bird's husband from Soul Food, they found these kids and got them to work for new Jordans and Burberry cologne.
Where's the drama? I mean, is there an upcoming episode where we witness one of these chicks taking an EPT? Where's the kid that comes out the closet? Is it going to be that boy who thinks he's the second coming of Barack Obama? I'm SAYING!
Let me stop ranting though...
The only person I was able to get into MILDLY was Roqui. She seems like she's trying to get herself together, but this chick CAN'T drive and has the nerve to ask her parents for a Mercedes. Stupid! Her father's right: no one gets a damn Mercedes for their first car as a teenager. That's just f*cking stupid, because you know this chick's gonna crash it as soon as she peeps a cutie crossing an intersection, or while attempting to reapply her lipgloss DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE LIGHT WILL CHANGE IN 5 SECONDS.
There's really not much I can say about this. I mean, there were 10 minutes left into the show and I started shopping online -- what does that tell you?

i am not a fan of this show, but what it is is BET's attempt to mirror MTV's laguna beach, seeing as how they are owned by the same parent company, if you havent noticed BET is now running alot of shows similar to what MTV has done in recent years, but has anyone noticed that although they are owned by the same company, the quality of production is much worse, just showing how corporate america treats us

I am from Baldwin Vista (which is the houses below the hills) and let me tell you something the J'z (junglez) is right there, no body considers this to be "the black beverly hills" Baldwin is a place were black folks were not allowed to live, but now we own the whole damn thing. My parents divorced when I was 2, pops was not around and Moms sacrificed evertything to keep a house. So we are all not rich. Most people that live in the community have been there for 30 and forty years. It is not BEVERLY HILLS, PALOS VERDES, but it and the whole Crenshaw community belongs to us and MAGIC JOHNSON. Baldwin, LaDera,View park, Windsor Hills are great accomplishments for BLACK FOLKS.
L.A. is not set up like other places you could be in the middle of a nice neighborhood, but on my mama it is a bunch of gangsta shit goin on in those houses, anybody from L.A. knows what I am saying.

I can't bring myself to watch Baldwin Hills so there was no reason to look at the blog today, but I decided to check it out before going to bed. Damn yall been coming at my boy *Future* pretty hard. Breezy got off to a rough start and to tell the truth Future carried her for a while and kept the bloggers interested. Once it became obvious that he could give me my Ron Mexico fix I was all for him battling for the position. That is what life is about. Never get comfortable because someone will try to get your shit and they are not wrong for that. That is a sign of ambition.
