I don't give enough of a f**k about these bum ass niggas to investigate where they are from or anything like that. I think it's safe to assume they're from the south though, right? Wherever they're from, their single "Party Like A Whiteboy" -- oops. I mean... "Party Like A Rockstar" [watch above] is pretty sh*tty, but their video definitely has some points of interest.
There are actual chocolate-faces who engage and immerse themselves in the many facets of rock culture. F**k, Rock & Roll is our shit to begin with. This n**ga in the beginning of the video however, ain't bout dat mess. (I'm talking about the n**ga with the Wesley Snipes/Demolition Man hair pretending to play guitar.)
This culture mockery for novelty's sake isn't so strange a concept. I ain't even mad at it. It's no different than when you turn on MTV and see a white rock group and/or their constituents dressed up in baggy sh*t with a do-rag, New Era fitted and a chain for shock value/cheap laughs. "Oh, look. We're acting street!"
Eh, I might be giving these knuckleheads a little bit too much credit by suggesting that they've intentionally flipped the script on this phenomenon. Especially when the clips of actual white folks look like they were shot after the video was already done and strewn about the composition haphazardly. None of that sh*t looks in-place. I bet they didn't even tell them white folks what they were being filmed for. Yet they acted like jackalopes.
Again, they accidentally dispel the myth that only n**gas jump in front of the camera for no good reason to show the world their asses. Deirdre in the trailer park wants to shine too! Mainstream white America just pretends she doesn't exist.
Aside from the scary runaway slave with the monster contact lenses in the early crowd shot, they really bring the collision of worlds home with the snap dance troupe in KISS makeup! One of them had the Gene Simmons face paint down properly. Others looked like they came from a 7-year-old birthday party. One of them n**gas got the "kitty cat" face, just in black and white.

This song is already PLAYED OUT in Atlanta. It's been around for several months...
That being said, I think it's hot and catchy. I hear it, smile and want to dance. That's what MUSIC is about. It should have a POSITIVE effect on you. Not make you angry and ready to kill somebody…there may be a time and place for that too but why everyday? Why do my kids need to hear anything other than Party Like a Rockstar? If that's a sign that hip-hop is dead, well so be it. "Hip-hop" (or niggardumb) needs to die.
I am a HUGE hip-hop fan and enjoy a lot of what's called "gangster" rap...no matter the birth place of the artist. But, this blog and the readers are seriously one dimensional and an example of what's wrong with US...not hip-hop..but Black folk. Why can't music make you feel good and happy? Why can't artists make songs that EVERYONE can listen to?
Now, I'm not saying all of the lyrics in Rockstar are uplifting. Just saying they aren't about killing, slapping somebody today or selling rocks. I feel your comments but folks are hatin or really, critizing our music cuz aside from the usuals (t.i., Luda, Outkast, Jeezy) We can't get past 3 hot singles, we've been runnin the same single to the ground to the point you get tired of hearin the same song and the artist get played out before they blow nationally now you're barely a one hit wonder cuz you came out cheesy and never displayed your talent cuz you wanted to make people dance. Its cool but that catchy single don't make us no better than the Macarena and you see where they are now.
good point ATLatino, it's all about marketing. the label makes you put out that catchy single 1st to get the radio play and video play. but do you really have talent to support a full career. in this case i gotta say "no" these dudes are all about a catchy beat and hook. we won't hear from them again!
I remember when LL Cool J danced in one of his videos and Kool Moe D used to wear all those funky leather outfits. And Heavy D and the Boys used to dance all around stage, AND you had groups like NWA and every thing was cool. Now if you don't throw money around in a video or have chicks half naked for no reason your video sucks, that is crazy. Hip Hop is about creativity and things being different, everyones not a "trapstar" so why do we act like it. I like the concept and the song its different and thats what makes it cool, I think that they should feel good that eventhough hip hop is super thugged out they had the courage to do something different.I guess if they would have had on some chains and through some rented whips in there on 24's it would have been cool. People need to lighten up. The song is cool.

Examples: Nore's Superthug, Puff Daddy's whole career, etc. Jay-Z gave us such mind stimulating and thought provoking singles as "Give it to me" and "Parking Lot Pimpin". Nas gave us "You Owe Me" and was largely responsible for "Ochie Wally". So now that they've already made their money on watered down Hip Hop and now that no one is interested in hearing the North's watered down singles..they want to scream Hip Hop is Dead and you sheep ass niggas eat it up. If Hip Hop is dead it died over 10 years ago and some your favorite northern rappers played a huge role is killing it. Blame them, dont blame the South.

I was born and raised in the South Bronx. I love Hip Hop, but I play in a Hard Rock band. Still, I find videos like this slightly corny. It's doesn't seem authentic. They are exploiting the "white rock culture" in the same silly fashion Burger King and McDonald's commercials exploits Black Hip Hop culture. Nonetheless, I'm sort of feeling the song. It hasn't gotten old to me yet.

Why does music have to be "dumbed down" to be fun? I think a lot of people's issues with "Southern Music" is that a lot of the songs are written so poorly that it almost seems as if they aren't trying to put forth the effort to produce decent music. It's scary to hear people who claim to love "hip-hop" defend poor lyrics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could've sworn that one of the major draws to "hip-hop" was that the writing was light years ahead of any other genre of music. Let's dance, let's party, but don't be stupid. It's funny to hear people say that hip-hop's too serious, but for the past 3 or 4 years, it's been nothing but Lil' Jon, Lil' Scrappy, DFB, D4L, 50, Lil' Boosie, Trillville, Crime Mob, Youngbloodz, Tum Tum, Huey, Webbie, T-Pain and Cadillac Don. Don't you guys think we've danced enough? I am in no way suggesting that we should all sound like Common, or Kanye but there HAS to be balance in rap, because people have begun to get the wrong idea about what hip hop is or isn't. Hip-hop is thought provoking, it's party, it's violent, it's krunk, but when only one angle is being shown, you don't get a clear picture of what the music stands for. Hip-hop is in complete disarray. Some people say it's too serious, some say it's too corny, and meanwhile the product suffers. I think the main problem people have with today's rap, is that very few rappers seem to care about the music itself. If they did, they wouldn't write some of the things they write. Truth told...their is a real good reason as to why hip-hop sales are down...just watch Sucker-Free countdown and I guarantee you will see a disturbing trend. Over 95% of the videos are "fun records". It's like watching the same video, and hearing the same song 20 times over, especially when the same couple of artists appear in multiple videos. i.e. R.Kelly, Jeezy. That's a lot of dancing. Hip-hop has turned into disco, and we all know what happened to that. Be careful what you wish for.
Down here, it's about getting the party started. I love how you backpack stans hate on the South and call us backward and hate on our lyrics, but say nothing about Diddy, and how every rapper north of Virginia is trying to shoot the other. And didn't "Chicken Noodle Soup" get a Source award?

ok I've gotta admit that it truly is a waste of energy to argue about the "southern style" of hip hop. I've been a Bronx native since i was born so i support anything that's New York City i support anything that's East Coast which makes me no different from the people in the south who support they're home states and they're music in the south. i am going to admit that there are songs with southern rappers on the track that i do not like. it annoy's me when those songs are played but then again theres some southern rappers that i honestly take interest in T.I. is at the top of my list followed by Young Jeezy and Lil' Wayne i don't think hip hop is dead. I always ask myself did hip hop ever have a life? how can you kill something that has a natural way of growing and adapting to its new enviorment? or maybe I'm just wrong about what I'm saying. i will admit that i don't like this song at all but it is very catchy to some extent. 50 cent said it best when he said that he believes that people in the south just want to have fun, it's true the south is very care-free there are no worries so you can go out and just be you. I've spent some time in the south but no i would never live there but from what i saw with my own eyes the people there really do wanna just have fun. yes it is true that the industry exploits rap music and it works for them because even if the artist or group has an album that flops those "white collar" business men still get paid. but now what about the artist? well, when i first heard T.I. i didn't pay him any mind but now i see that he's serious about hip hop because his music is able to reach everyone wether they are in the south, east, west, etc. because they're are some artists who may not understand the industry and so they end up flopping because they fail to realize that while its no problem "having fun" you have to understand that if you really wanna get money you have to reach out to other hoods by making music so everyone can enjoy it. 50 does it and his records sell globally, boom! money in his pocket. T.I. does it and his records reach and gain respect from people in the east, west, and ofcourse the south and boom! his pockets get fatter. it's simply a matter of promoting yourself the right way now when i look at these artists in this video i can see that (and this is just my opinion) they don't have the experience to understand that the southern audience isn't the only people they should be pleasing however you should always start an album by showing the world were you origninate from then you try to aim for the people outside your reach by trying to understand what they want. listen to your fans then put something out for them and then go from there. rap is different in every region but if you as an artist want to reach out to other regions you have to make sure you do it with the fans in mind. these guys in the video are having fun "for now" but I'm sure sooner or later they will see that there is more money to be made if they reach out to other areas and adjust they're music so it sounds good to those fans. i wouldn't call it supply and demand but this is the closest way i can describe it. it's not a matter of where your from it's how you put yourself out there. so ok these guys drop "party like a rockstar" and it doesn't sit well with some fans but, on the other hand some people like it. if someone out there likes it then give it time and see what the outcome is. they have a long way to go so give them some breathing space and let them do what they can if they don't do good, tough. if they do then they get props. now if you there's anything you guys want to add to my statement be my guest i can tell you right now that I'm not gonna come back here to see if anyone responded to me. but, if you do want to speak your mind to me then get at me on instant messenger my AIM screen name is myrieboy, my Yahoo IM screen name is myrieboy as well and I'm on Hotmail as myrieblack@hotmail.com so if you wanna respond to me directly then get at me.
