I was looking for a clip from Comedy Central's "Halfway Home" to see what you guys thought of the show. I think it's pretty funny. However, I stumbled upon this shit and was less than pleased.

I guess some people think this kind of thing is funny, though a startling majority of us are one missed check away from being right there with Albert.

I don't know the intentions behind some white kids with a camera filming this man, so I don't want to judge off the bat. However, it looks to me that they intended to ridicule him. If they didn't, I haven't yet ingested the great findings of this case study.

  • My only problem with this SOHH?? Is that CONSTANTLY, and just on the another link, you featured a story about Danity Kane's KING spread being "wack" because her ass wasn't plastered all over the pages. This kind of self-perpetuation of negative images about us is cool when you and others in our community do it, but every time a white person does it, THEN eye brows get raised?????

    Like I've been saying, if you only use your powers for GOOD Give it up, and stop wasting your writing talent on this garbage of a blog!

  • Lis, I have a few things to address about your comments.

    1) That thing about Danity Kane was not written by this writer, Ron Mexico.

    2) There is a difference b/w sexism and downright black exploitation. The Danity Kane blog, while sexist, is not exploiting some man's misfortune for comedy.

    3) The "white" aspect is questioned here because this type of exploitation has been going on since the days of minstrel shows. Though no type of exploitation can be justified, white men amusing themselves with poor black men has been going on for far too long.

    Hope this clears up some things. This is simply a rebuttal.

    Are YOU reading some of the things that get posted about sisters? So it's okay to be SEXIST against our sisters, just not exploitive??

    Come on now, the thing that gets me is, you all are very intelligent and talented writers, but the manner in which you promote your context is what I find truly sad and perpetual. I'm sorry but that's how I see it.

    I was originally drawn to it, because you guys have a certain intellect and wit that makes me wonder how half your audience is able to comprehend the humor, just basing on the people that leave msgs.

  • Personally I don't think it matters whether the kids were white or night. Parents of all color are friggin worthless when it come to raising their kids. I just saw video of some kids going on a paint gun shooting spree and they looked hispanic. I embarrased that one of them was but color isn't a determining factor for what people do. You are NOT compelled to do stupid shit because of your color, race, sexual preference, eating habits, religion, or frequency of masturbation.

    I think this blog, Talkin Videos, is one of the more intelligent blogs. This is not based on the content but of the writer's level of wit. I think it is well written even at times when the humor is misguided.

    Moving on to the exploitation, it is wrong whether it is black-on-black or white-on-black. I totally agree with you all and that was not what I was trying to say. The sexist issue can be dealt with on the other blog. It is wrong, but the women agree to be sex objects. This homeless man did not agree to be humiliated. They probably lied to him, making him think he was special to be on camera. Danity Kane did a photo spread for publicity. Let's focus on one issue at a time.

  • When you come to a hip hop site, you can expect some sexism. It is prevalent in hip hop so naturally these blog writers are going to address it. We have to change that aspect of the culture before we attack individual opinions. I'm not justifying what anyone is doing.     sometimes i wonder if people are actually paying attention to what i attack. they get so caught up in the fact that i poke fun at certain individuals that they miss the critique of our culture... the culture i love... the reason i do any of this shit.
