We might have missed a submission.
Much like the Cocoa Pebbles milk turning chocolatey brown, we find plenty of fun surprises in this week’s episode of “Violent Gentrification,” I mean, “The White Rapper Show.” Our urban pioneers get shaken down for classic hip-hop prowess. G-Child goes Super Saiyan. Sullee cracks for booty. Persia and the King of the Burbs work together for this ghetto revival, baby.
We finally get a flash of ego trip-dom with the in-episode Dasit list. I do hope they continue to sprinkle more tidbits and pellets of effort like that over the next cluster of episodes. However, in doing so, they continue to blur the line between serious artistic competition and VH1 mindless distraction. (I am reluctant to refer to most of their programming as “entertainment.”)
Hmmm… Misfit, the London rapper girl, doesn’t dig white boys. Why am I not surprised? What does surprise me is that her ideal candidate to take the bone well deep from is Juelz Santana. She doesn’t just like her meat darker, but apparently preferably with evidence of having of skin-popped the junk.
The more Skeletor the better. Isn’t that how the saying goes?
In a long list of insinuations I am less than comfortable with as a man of color and representative of hip-hop, the white rappers must undergo their longer field trips in a NYC Corrections bus. Yes, getting locked up is hip-hop, people. Maybe the niggas on Sedgwick would ease up on a group of honksters and turtle doves that just got off the Rikers bus. I also heard somewhere that boarding a prison bus instantly amplifies your rap talent.
I love Kurtis Blow and everything he did for the game. While his contributions won’t be as crucial as those of John Brown (KOTB), he aight. What I don’t approve of is bald-faced lying on national television. Kurtis! Stop acting like white people didn’t get clowned when they tried to boogaloo at them parties!

I don’t know what was sadder to watch, Jus Rhyme’s Rocksteady aspirations of Fabel’s “instruction.” We know what you were capable of, my dude. Let us respect your legend. Don’t bust out the D-train panhandle for people who’ve never heard of you to see.
You would think making these kids break in the projects would be challenge enough. Nope! The elite rapster class of 2006 has to display its knowledge of classic rap music in before hip-hop pioneer and icon, Grandmaster Caz, and a congregation-sized cackle of actual colored people.
While he does appear to love the music, I believe 100 Proof edges the faint competition and earns a “Ghetto Pass” (boooo!) on the shoulders of his age moreso than his steel-trap brain and rap in his veins. I mean, Jon Boy called “Shook Ones” Digital Undeground. He should have been sent home on the spot. The panel was completely fucking hopeless. Misfit only knew because she’s wanted to fuck Prodigy since she was 12.

After a few post-game &%# Light tallboys, G-Child comes to the realization that she is a liability and otherwise worthless in any competitive aspect. While I’d have to agree with her were I there, I’d also be looking to curb her libation a little. Drunken midgets are trouble. I have video evidence from last Cinco De Mayo.
I really only have one logistical problem with G-Child’s tirade. I hate Dipset and 50 Cent as much as the next man, but you do realize that your favorite MC and idol is Vanilla Ice, right?
The little demon redeems herself immediately with line of the night. “With flow so heavy that you’ll need a tam-ponnnn!”
Serch and Grandmaster Caz promptly show us why they are ex-rappers. I will be thoroughly disappointed if I have to sit through many more installments of “Old Niggas That Had It.”
Mandated to reproduce the sloppy old-school flow they just witnessed, Persia, John Brown, Sullee and Misfit (‘07 Bonnie & Clyde) square off against primarily the dregs of the competition in Jon Boy, Shamrock, G-Child and Jus Rhyme and find a way to lose! I’d be mad as hell if I had lost to a team of retards trying to hump a doorknob. Persia and them took the L surprisingly well. No black latex dicks on anyone’s lips or anything.
Was I the only one a little freaked out by the Jay-Z & Beyonce interlude they had Sullee and Misfit make?
John Brown came through with quote of the night. “If you and Sullee are gonna get gully, you gotta take that shit to the cot.” Amen. I don’t wanna hear that shit! King of the Burbs got entitying to do in the morning!
After the Dasit debacle, I don’t think anyone will be abstaining in the (gulp) Ice Ice Baby Chamber. Sullee ran away with the concept of self-maligning, showing off the crack tooth and everything. Now I know where I recognize him from. It was bothering me for a while.
His London lover pasted a line or two into her prospective Westwood 16 and tried to coast it over Serch’s head. Oh, yes. It was time for this one to go. Not only was she trying to skate by on her looks (dare I say she had a tinge of touchdown about the eyes), but she tried to coast with the rhymes too. In her defense, I could imagine it was easy for her to forget she was in an MC competition.
I feel like I’m watching The Mad Real World/Roadie Rules Challenge.

In case you’ve missed it Misfit Dior was booted from ego trip’s “The (white) Rapper Show” in the series’ second episode. No sweat though. Hoping to capitalize off her current buzz, Misfit and her partner Law are looking to release their Sex Sells mixtape in the coming weeks as well as an untitled album later in the year. Between relentless two way messages and phone calls, miss Dior caught up with SOHH to discuss the show’s editing, the low down on Sullee, her breast implants and why she dissed Fergie.
SOHH: Serch claimed that you spit a written rhyme and just added a few negative lines about yourself for elimination, did you?
Misfit: I wrote one 16. It’s better to spit a full 16 cause the week before I forgot the last bar and everyone else spat the whole first. I was like, “fuck it, I’m a improvise,” that’s why I switched around more bigging myself up, just freestyling that last bit.
SOHH: So it’s not like you didn’t have a hard time coming up with flaws?
Misfit: When I was talking to Shamrock and I was like, “I ain’t got no flaws.” They kinda cut that. After that I said, “I’m just fucking with you.” They made it look like, “oh I ain’t got no flaws.”
SOHH: Dasit was talking about the editing and he said that they made cuts to made things seem a certain way on the show. Do you agree?
Misfit: The editing is definitely different than how I thought it was gonna be. Remember the first week, I was like Silent Bob. They never showed me talking at all. And it kind of sucks cause I did speak, words did come out of my mouth on various occasions. But I guess they cut that. So that kinda sucks. I didn’t really get to showcase my talent, especially when we went to people’s houses, spittin for the neighbors. They didn’t show me spitting then. The only time they really showed me spitting was like the audition and also elimination.
SOHH: I’m talking to you right now and I understand everything you’re saying, how did you feel when they had subtitles whenever you spoke on the show?
Misfit: I think it’s funny cause a lot of people always say that. When I talk, I do talk mad fast, especially when I get excited I do talk mad fast. I mumble out my words. A lot of my people, even my mom sometimes [they’re like] “yo, you gotta slow down cause I can’t understand what you’re saying.” When the show started we were like, “it’d be funny if they had to use subtitles.”
SOHH: What was your reaction when you saw Persia saying that you didn’t contribute and you didn’t get it?
Misfit: That was kinda fucked up. I did contribute, maybe not as much cause I had a lot of other things on my mind, but I did contribute. And the whole, me going to the bathroom thing…we already had our verses tight and we practiced it and were just about to go and perform it and I was like, “hold on, let me go and take a piss before we go and do our thing.” And then they’re like, “where’s Misfit. She’s in the bathroom.” It’s like yo, I can’t freaking piss…they made up that whole piece. They wasted like three minutes of the show out of an hour, they could have shown something else.
SOHH: Reality shows are often not a good look for artists, so why did you do it?
Misfit: I’ve always been against reality shows. I never had any desire to do any reality show. I actually found out about this one two days before…I didn’t even know about any auditions. I never heard anything. I guess it was being advertised somewhere. I never heard nothing about it. I heard from a friend that they were looking for another female. They hadn’t found one. Me and Law were sitting like, “I don’t know if I should do it. It might be really corny. All we really wanna do is get exposure for our music, so it was like “fuck that.” Let’s take a risk. If I don’t like it, I can always walk out.
SOHH: So, no regrets on doing the show?
Misfit: No. I’m kinda glad I left when I did. When I was there, I wasn’t really feeling it being there. When you watch the show, I pretty much look bored in quite a few scenes. Some of this shit they had us do like rapping for the neighbors around the hood. I was kinda cringing when I saw, “for my homies on the blocks.” I was like Misfit, “what are you doing?” The whole white thing they were playing off on…I mean it’s all for the TV so I kinda understand where they’re coming from and they basically wanted to over exaggerate it. But it was like…mad corny.
SOHH: So, my dude Dick Johnson wants to know what happened with Sullee.
Misfit: Nothing. The whole house was dirty. The little area I was living in, I made a point of dusting and cleaning and scrubbing that whole living space. That would be the only place I would chill unless we had to be in a meeting in the living room or had to be in the kitchen to eat. Everybody would kind of just come and sit on my bed. I got really close to Sullee, like he’s my little homie. We used to dissect albums, classic hip-hop albums, so we really just got close. And then we would just sit and talk and then he would fall asleep in my bed. One night he just came drunk and just passed out in my bed. And the last three nights he just slept in my bed. He even didn’t make it look like nothing [happened]. He even said it at the end.
SOHH: You really don’t mess with white boys?
Misfit: No it’s not that. I don’t discriminate on any race. That’s just my personal preference right now…well, it’s been for a while.
SOHH: Do you really have fake breasts?
Misfit: I got a free boob job. The surgeon who did my boobs does all the celebrities back in London. I did an interview with one of them celebrity magazines and they took pictures of before the operation. The woman who was supposed to do it, I backed out at the last minute. My friend worked for the magazine she told me. I was like, “can I get my boobs done?” They paid me to do it and I got a free job, so I was like, “fuck it.”
SOHH: You’ve talked about modeling before, is that something you do or you’re pursuing?
Misfit: I grew up modeling. I did a couple of billboard campaigns, commercials, a couple of films. I still do modeling. I get booked for jobs, but I don’t go around from casting to casting like on “America’s Next Top Model.” If someone’s trying to book me for a job and the money is right I ain’t gon say no, but that’s not what I aspire to be.
SOHH: It sounds like you love the opportunity you got, but a bit disappointed by the way you were portrayed.
Misfit: It could have been worse. I could have had more changes to showcase my skills. But I’m sure people who have watched the show at some point has gone to my myspace page. They can listen to my music, so it’s not the worst thing in the world. I’m signing autographs in the street right now, so it’s fun. Hopefully it’s gonna be a stepping stone for our music career and a lot of opportunities will come our way soon. So…it’s definitely a good look.
SOHH: On your page, you have your own version of “London Bridge” and it sounds like you’re dissing Fergie.
Misfit: We ain’t on no hate shit. She’s singing about London Bridge. First of all, it’s actually Tower Bridge. So, she kinda got that bit a little bit twisted. So you we had to come back like, “it’s my town, bitch!” She’s from California, like…rep your city, ma.

Its almost obvious, especially with the Dasit disses they had listed in the 2nd episode, that this show is NOT to be taken seriously.
I do think Persia ca spit. And I felt that group competition and how G Child repped... but in the end, its all entertainment my dude...

Well what can i say. I just finished watching the show, and i must confess that it is hilarious. Jon Brown isnt really fronting...i just think he's a little off his rocker. I mean, his eyes get all glazed over everytime he talks about the "ghetto revival" and needless to say his eyeballs are a little googled too. He's friggen nuts, and its hilarious. I watch the show, but mainly to see how hip-hop is portrayed. I have to say that Serch does a good job of clowning these cats, but I'm a little disappointed in how they play hip-hop out a little bit. But instead of blaming others for taking down black culture, please look at the current hip-hop situation. If there wasn't so many wack ass, frontin "ganstas", people wouldn't get the impression that's what the music is all about.
By the way, I loved how Lord Jamal was on the show...he went at John Brown for that "ghetto revival" bullshit. I think dude is playin it smart. I thought dude was sayin "King of the Verbs", which I would respect a lot more than "King of the Burbs" but the burbs is who's gonna make dude rich. I think dude is gonna win the show and go on to sell a million records, whether he deserves it or not. But keep in mind that white America is the largest buyers of rap music, so that shouldn't be tough.

Persia,Shamrock, and John Brown are by far the best...the rest of them pretty much suck...I know Middle schoolers that rap better. I think Persia will win because he timing is perfect and she sounds the best when recorded. I like John Brown...mainly because he makes me laugh....however, the kid may have some screws in his head more loose than what's up Misfit's skirt....
