The Pre-Mexican Awards Party!

I would like to thank you all for a deliciously spiteful 2006!

As we continue to dickslap the industry and its visual representation, I’d also like to take this time to look back a bit. Much like last year, January will play host to our Talkin’ Videos Awards Ceremony. Unlike last year, I’m giving you, the loyal Talkin’ Videos reader, the opportunity to influence the categories, nominees and eventual winners of 2007’s “Mexicans.”

This year YOU are the Academy!

Throwback Thursday: James Brown... Testify!

No, I wasn't able to go to the Apollo to view James Brown. Niggas with jobsand shit can't be there.

I find it only appropriate to give the last Throwback Thursday of 2006 to James Brown. I used this not because there aren't many good James Brown music videos on YouTube...

Okay... let me not be lyin on the James Brown blog. But still... This is how I'd like to picture Brother James at the time of his reckoning. Perm lookin better than Aretha's shit. Skin glossed over with the finest brown shoe polish and DAX pomade. Teeth finally off lay-away. He looked happy as all hell. Umm... heaven.

SOHH Focused: Nas Karaoke

...and we're back with the comments.

nas-velveteen.jpg

Nas week is over, but fulfilling my weekly quota of SOHH.com videos couldn't have been more fun than this. H.D. and his trusty cameraman hit the streets once again to get us all kinds of city folk to karaoke one of the classics, "Made You Look." [watch it now] Enclosed are Senor Mexico's thoughts on what took place that fateful day.

Midweek Madness: My Dick In A Box!

The Christmas Gift Revolution is upon us!

For the benefit of the twelve or so of you that have not yet enjoyed the latest work of Adam Samberg featuring Justin Timberlake on SNL a little while ago, the instant classic viral video is here on Talkin' Videos.

Come on, now. Who don't love them some EweTouble? Ronaldinho damn sure do.

Jay-Z feat. Chrisette Michele - "Lost One" video

You might win some...

Nah, it ain't L-Boogie. Completing Nas week, I figure it's only appropriate to do the new video from his baby daddy, Jay-Z. Displaying the old-school jazzy stylings of new R&B/soul signee Chrisette Michele, "Lost One" [watch above] features the Jiggaman at his sappiest and most vulnerable.

Nas on Nas - A Video Anthology

(*Ronaldo takes the microphone*)

We honoring the spirit of Nas and shit... It's Nas week, right? Supposed to be Throwback Thursday, right? We ain't got no comments, right?

Then I said "fuck it." Let's let Nas do this one himself.

(*turns on house lights to reveal Nas on balcony.*)

LET'S GO, ESCO!!!

Nas - "Hip Hop Is Dead" video

What do hip-hop and Talkin Videos have in common? They’s some dead motherfuckers.

Hmmm. I was annoyed by the comments not working at first, but shit… This is kinda peaceful. No dumb-asses tombout “FIRST! LOVE ME!” No square ass bitches telling me I should massage Young Jeezy’s balls or some punk shit… etc. Unfortunately, there’s also no love hate from you guys, which is my favorite thing about this blog.

Oh yeah… It’s Nas week. So let’s finally talk about his “Hip Hop is Dead” video. [watch above]

SOHH Videos: 60 Seconds with Doug Christie

Fuck it. I guess it's NBA Week or some shit.

doug_christie_%26wife2.jpg

Much like Jerry West's silhouette is somehow synonymous with the National Basketball Association, Doug Christie's awkward, slightly disengaged grin is the face of Niggas Being Abused. Once again, live from The Negro Channel Hip-Hop Awards, H.D. (our rapper/journalist on the skreet) mixes it up with retired baller Doug Christie and his owner, Jackie. [watch it now]

Monday Madness: Basketbrawl Jones

I know y'all all saw this, but shit... this is what monday madness is all about.

Fuckin' Knicks can't even win a damn street brawl.

Gwen Stefani - "Wind It Up" video

Gwen Stefani has ruined “The Sound of Music” forever.

In her latest effort and attempt to be god knows what (as I don’t want to call the shit “artistry”), G-Stef butchers “The Yodel Song.” “Wind It Up” [watch above] might as well feature the damn Ying Yang Twins. I’m actually curious to hear what they would have done with this chorus.

(Note: As I am way behind on you guys' requests, I am going to devote the rest of this calendar year to catching up!)

Another Bad Creation - "Playground" video

Wowsers. Hangovers are fun!

Okay. Just had to get that out of the way. Enough about Ronaldinho. This is about YOU guys. Pretty much the remainder of this calendar year will be devoted to the requests I have yet to attend to. This week’s throwback is purely criminal, and not the smooth, Michael Jackson pocket pool sort. Though, I’m sure Mike would fuck the shit out of these kids. (Katt Williams is so funny!) Inside the Haters’ Studio proudly presents Another Bad Creation with “Playground.” [watch above]

You know we can't have one of anything, right? I even got 2 Lil' Boosies.

As if Jim Jones' claim to fame hasn't murdered itself and resurrected sevenfold, we now embrace about 2 additional months of Negro Channel rotation for the "We Fly High" remix [watch above] featuring Puff Daddy, Tip Harris, Merlin Santana, Ving Rhames from "Holiday Heart" (*kiss kiss*, baby!) and Los Angeles Clippers forward Tim Thomas lookin cleeeen inniis bi'.

SOHH Videos: Michael Blackson's 60 Seconds

MichaelBlacksonbw.jpg

Leading the seemingly endless line of shit I’m forced to do (like watching ComicView when I go over to my little brother’s place), I offer you modasuckas my thoughts on “The [self-proclaimed] African King of Comedy” Michael K. Blackson’s appearance on H.D.TV’s Negro Channel Hip-Hop Awards red carpet minstrel show coverage. [watch it now... please]

If you don’t know who this man is, you probably haven’t been to 125th Street where he and Akon provide the finest cotton footwear, skully caps and heartfelt misspelled renditions of your favorite urban brand names... sometimes all in one.

Monday Madness: Through "The Wire"

Only because I love you fuckin gumps.

Alright you out of town niggas. I’m askin you who Young Leek be. As promised, I have devoted this week’s Monday Madness to the officially completed fourth season of “The Wire.”

louisianamap.gif

Y'all done up and done it again. Or should I say "It's Goin Down" again. Middleground mainstay Lil' Boosie finally makes his move with the help of Yung Joc in "Zoom," [watch above] a lead single that I swear we've heard already. There ain't a whole lot to this video except cars, overly-excited niggas and hoes you can cut quicker than Webbie did Boosie off the commercially-consumed version of "Bad Bitch."

SOHH Videos: HD's "Behind The Grind, Pt. 1"

hd-puffy.jpg

SOHH.com video of the week, as dictated by Ronaldinho, is the long-awaited first installment of our good friend and aspiring rap star H.D.’s “Behind The Grind” series. [watch it now] The collection follows H-Dottt through the process of making his first release, the “Almost Famous” mixtape (hosted by Donnell Rawlings AKA Ashy Larry). The long-time anchor of our HDTV series, SOHH.com’s inside man gets career advice along the way from some of the biggest names in the game.

Fun, fun for everyone.

Junior - "Mama Used To Say" video

Now is indeed the time for you youngsters to strive. In 1982 this meant reaching 21 without getting shanked and avoiding that new AIDS shit. This week's throwback is a personal favorite of mine. Junior's classic "Mama Used To Say" [watch above] still makes me dance in my socks. That's right. I will take off my shoes and do that fuckin El DeBarge slide all over the room.

Ciara - "Promise" video

Promising my mother that I wouldn’t make fun of this poor little recording artist completely devoid of musical talent made me realize that I shouldn’t make promises. I guess that’s some shit Ciara and I have in common. Four and a half minutes couldn’t feel any longer watching the “Promise” [watch above] video. This is even after watching that one “Bodyguard” video where I wish the lighting fixture fell on me.

Lil' Boosie feat. Yung Joc - "Zoom" video

Big turrrble Texas! Where legends are born!

Monday Madness: MJ Motown 25

You know what this is. Best solo performance ever. Mike galvanized the crowd like none other at the Motown 25th Anniversary Colored Music Spectacular.

SOHH Videos: The Young Hov Project - "Lucifer"

[Really] Young Hov in the place to be?

younghov.jpg

This week's incestuous SOHH.com video pick comes from The Young Hov Project. Featuring a 13-year old aspiring actor by the name of Samgoma Edwards and directed by his older brother Samtubia, "The Project" provides Jigga fans a peculiar service. Invoking the swagger, nuances and oversized lips of Shawn Carter, they make the videos you wish Jay had made himself. Today's selection is "Lucifer" [watch it now] son of the morning...
