Beatnuts feat. Big Pun & Cuban Link - "Off The Books" video

Posted on October 26, 2006 10:04 AM

Ain't nothin but crooks in here!

beatnuts-blackwhite.jpg

The Beatnuts are true buffalo soldiers. Unsung heroes of this 90s rappin shit. The oft-forgotten JuJu and Psycho Les combined with fellow Latin rap stars Big Pun and Cuban Link for what's probably the biggest (but by no means best) record of their career. "Off The Books" [watch it now] shows us the shiny side of the nuts as this Quatro Fantastico does its damndest to keep up with the Joneses.

...or should I say the Combses.

Oh, you know I said it. This was these niggas raft-to-Miami attempt at making a Puffy video. Goggles? Leather? Fantasy Island white suits? Can "Do You Believe?" and this shit come from the same stream? I guess so when it's 1997 and you're trying to get some MTV spins.

Mmmm. Mmmmmmmm. A white party on Wall Street with bitches and money rain. If only Puffy could see us now! Speaking of Puffy, props to my homie EJ for actually making that .gif I asked about last Thursday!

PuffMase.gif

As for the restaurant intro, the only tip JuJu got for ya is hollow, beitch. Besides, if anyone should be on the hook for a tip it should probably be Pun for making Yesenia come back and forth to the table about 6 times. Pescados y mariscos, baby!

I see these boys got the chocolate fever! They like the morenas. Ain’t nothing wrong with a little Café Bustelo in the morning time. I see a few twisted, Tyra Banks “I just got twisted out by Chris Webber in the dressing room” weaves too. Don’t act like y’all ain’t seen homegirl doin her best Oprah impersonation with a weave that looks like Beyoncé ran it over right before she put it on.

Brrrr.

P.S.: Never forget the accento over the second "e" in Beyoncé!

  • I love the all-white look in this video, just clean and very pimperish. but the fuckin' goggles...LMMFAO. This is the muthafuckin joint. This was also my intro to Big Pun. This is what I like to call all around record, you can bang it first thing in the morning to get you up, bump it in the ride, get yo study on and it's straight club banga. The Beatnuts are one of the most slept on producers, period. Cool & Dre owe these niggaz. And "Do You Believe" is definitely up there on all time bangers right along with "Watch Out Now" & "No Escapin This"

  • Ya know it amazes me how this went from commenting on this Beatnuts video to "Sloppy Joe embarassing him'self" and "there hasn't been a TS since Pun left!". Guess you just can't let Joe be at peace huh? Oh well he must still be relevant because you just can't keep his name out of ya mouth and stop hatin! And thank you Ron Mexico for schoolin these youngin's they probably never heard of "Jealous One'z Envy" or D.I.T.C. for that matter. And since you must talk about him then fine let's talk! Crack was never the most lyrical compared to other emceez when he droppped in '92-93....but! It wasn't what he said but how he said it, "Everybody knew Joey Crack Represented...And if I told ya that i'll take ya life hey yo I meant it!". That's why respect was shown and now given cause he is what he raps! And being that street hustler he was and paying his dues he's now gettin that paper so go ahead Crack I ain't mad at'cha! "MAKE IT RAIN" on these hatin' a$$ faggots cause JEALOUS ONE'Z STILL ENVY!!!!!!!!!!!

  • AHHHHHHHHH - CAN'T SAY NAMES!

I can't name names in this one. A certain non-down South rapper that gets props down South was down South having a bit of fun in Orlando. Well, he and a dozen or so homeys were down in sunny O-Town at a certain grimey strip joint. "N****s get shot weekly at this spot," a source told AllHipHop.com of this club. Well, after doing a bit of stage work performing/hosting/having fun, this rapper goes to VIP with the rest of the ballers. Well, with all these cats in VIP stuff tends to get hectic. The rapper entered that VIP after it was completely occupied by 30 dudes - all affiliated. Well, some of the baller cats passed through and the rapper told them that they could not walk through his area, from what I have been told. "Everything just went crazy," the source said. Anyway, somebody touched somebody and the rapper reportedly got slapped by a dude 6' 3" or taller. People get thrown around and the fracas starts to get out of control. BUT, the owner of the club allegedly pulls out some heat and tells everybody get get out of dodge.

The rapper goes out the back and the others go out the front. Well, I heard that the rapper wanted to get back for that slap. He and his crew venture out front only to be met with AK-47's and other heavy artillery. They were smart and rolled out to live to not tell the tale.
