I think the wirter of this blog is being just a little bit too hard on the dance. The only reason it was bashed as being racial degrading is because of the semblence the dance itself has to old sambo and minstrel show dancers. Yet, if we look at those old performances it wasn't just the dancing that made it racially offensive it was the nature of the entire show. The black makeup, the music, the overall theme of black inferiority. The dancing was mainly to enforce the stereotype that black people like to dance(something we back up on our own....and shit white people love to dance too)and to provide entertainment. I don't see racial backwardness with what I just witnessed. All I see is just a stupid dance. Sure the song is weak, but at the most it's catchy not deragatory.
