Naughty By Nature - "Feel Me Flow" video

All I wanna know is if ya body wanna party...

Well, I guess hip-hop needed another anthem... and sweaty niggas from New Jersey! "Feel Me Flow" [watch it now] was just one of a great many anthemic classics from the Illtown trio Naughty By Nature. Treach, Vin Rock and Kay Gee (the shady producer nigga who has moved on to become Jaheim's daddy while Vinny and Treach were last seen hugging up on 3LW) took another swing at rap game relevance with one of the greatest [summer] songs ever dropped by a rap act.

I still listen to this shit regularly.

I didn’t know that Kay Gee, producerextraordinaire, had to beg broads to come somewhere with him. Maybe it was because he looked like Rick James back in the day. Eh, it might also have something to do with the fact that it’s 1995 and he’s on a pay phone with a beeper. I mean… even MY broke ass had a beeper in 1995 and I was like 14.

Where the fuck did Treach and Kay Gee take these people on a bus with no luggage that completely changed climates?

Who is that supposed to be on the radio? Mister Señor Love Daddy? That is a piss-poor substitute for Sam "Snakes on a GOT damn bus" Jackson. This was just before he blew up too. You coulda got Gator in your video, guys! Shit, probably could have gotten Halle too. She was still playing crackheads.

I didn’t even know black people snowboarded. In fact, when that many of us go to the ski resort (of which I don’t know any open in New Jersey in fucking August) we tear shit up... and we don’t fuckin SKI! Niggas be looking for trash can tops at the hotel and slidin down the mountain on those.

Wisecracks aside, this video looks pretty authentic. There are a few model-lookin girls, but there are also most certainly dozens of drug-addicted aunties in here. Look closely! They might have been hangin around for the infinite ball of snow in Treach's palm. That's my only explanation for the plot of this video.

As as matter of fact, last time I went skiing, Auntie Vonetta beat Dookie and Man-Man’s ass for goin down the bunny slope on their new sneakers… and throwing artificial snowballs. Did you know they frown upon that at the resorts?

Go back over Naughty By Nature’s catalogue today. They were very quietly well… the shit. Treach still isn’t given enough credit for his influence as an MC. Dude is without question one of the true leaders of the new school. Maybe because he always had his shirt off, people didn’t really pay attention to what he was saying, but he was the dude for quite some time.

Ya like Queen Latifah? Shit, then you like Naughty By Nature.

NBN use to be the shit. They was the pioneers of them fucken quilted jackets and nobody could rock some faded black jeans with some Hi-Tech's like Treach could, boy! LOL

And what the hell ever happened to Da Youngsta's? They was lookin like the Naughty By Nature mini-me's.

  • After that whole chicken soup debacle, I needed some balance. Thank you, Ron for that. One of the hottest summer jams ever. You right, Treach was one of the illest MCs of that era, and he really is responsible for bringing that East Coast street shit to a crossover level. Too bad he resorted to doin pornos.

Still my favorite song from them is Uptown Anthem-but Feel Me Flow was the best pool party-cookout-drive around and pick up hoes-song outside of Summertime and G-Thang of that era.

LOL @ dig...when niggas didn't have paper for the quilted jackets, we just flipped our Starter jackets inside out.

  • Naughty By Nature were the true leaders of the new school!! Peace to Vin Rock, 2nd generation weed carrier after E-love of LL cool J fame. That chick in the dirty ass t-shirt and bra in the beginning was extremely hot in more ways than one. Classic shit. Wassup Naj, Dig, and ODEMIC?

I tell y'all, I wasn't that old when NBN was happening, but they had a POSITIVE effect on my psyche, some feel good music...as opposed to whats up now...but like I said, I was Treach! For real I was, got dammit!

Dig...thanks for that image...but then Hype slowing down the jiggling glitter was priceless.

You're right ODEMIC. NBN was street but not all that bullshit that's equated with it. Ghetto Bastard was an example of that real shit they did.

I knew they weren't too bad when my moms copped 19naughtyIII with the cursing when it came out. I had to dub off my mom...that's when she started fuckin w/ hip hop and stopped saying it was bullshit.

  • Treach was and still is the man, hands down. He had that rapid fire mulit-syllabic that headz like Eminem use nowadays. I love this video, this is the definition of a summer anthem, shit straight up my boy start snowboarding off the strength of this one right here. Classic.

Man how can you even pick a favorite Naughty song: Feel Me Flow, Ghetto Bastard, OPP, Craziest, Uptown Anthem, Dirt All By My Lonely, Hi-Hop Horray, Yoke the Joker, Chain Remains; just too many man.

  • Someone give this blogger a raise please!! And clone him. This is hands down one of the best blogs i've ever seen on this site. Nice use of jokes and good point of addressing kay gee's problem. It's all so very true. Great job.

Nbn was the jumpoff in it's day. I bought my first boombox to play o.p.p out in the brick cold winter in the projects (i've sinced moved on up from the projects and from boombox to ipod's with big ol' pioneer headphones that drive ppl nuts on the train). These guys gave us more ill music as a team than pretty much any group of their era. Alot of the themes by nbn are still very relevant and have stood the test of time, that's what you categorize as legends. Treach had sick spittin' patterns for his time out there, I actually had a chat with dude in a midtown building lobby. It's all real, genuine individual. Too bad no producers have stepped up to make that a group again.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

  • How come we can't get anymore groups like this nowadays. Naughty steady dropped joints that played on hip-hop radio as well as pop radio, and no one even thought about about calling em sell-outs or said they weren't "street" enough. But today it doesn't go that way.

Redman and Treach are two of the most underrated and underappreciated MC's in hip-hop.
