O.G.C. feat. Heltah Skeltah - "Lefleur Leflah Eshkoshka" video

Posted on June 15, 2006 9:00 AM

The name of this shit here is...

heltahskaltah-bw.jpg

Eh, who the fuck knows how to spell it? In 1996, the Boot Camp Click showed the depth of its rotation with O.G.C. and Heltah Skeltah's merger The Fab 5. I'm not sure who's Jalen Rose and who's calling the touchdown timeout, but I do know that "Lefleur Leflah Eshkoshka" [watch it now] is indeed the shit, and that there was more to the BCC than Black Moon and Smif 'N Wessun.

Oh, yeah... The video's pretty cool too.

White background videos often make for classics. There's a reason for this. They have to be bold as fuck! You have to come with at least some Bobby Brown "Every Little Step" shit (or B5 - "You Got Me") Bottom Line: Your ass had best entertain!

These scruffy niggas from Brooklyn most certainly do just that. With nothing but microphones and each other's dread wax, these guys go on a white-background journey that makes you appreciate a dope ass song even more.

Sean Price (then known as Ruck) was one dirty-looking bastard. I have never seen him looking like anything other than having just come from the corner store to buy his 5th White Owl of the day. I'd say the rest of them are on their second at most.

Dru Ha impressed me with how much he was able to look like fucking Scarface. He eats that annoying ass nigga who was down with Roc-A-Fella ALIVE! If he could sound like Tony Montana as well, he could make some money on the side as a look-alike or somethin. Niggas all over America with ASS (Advanced Scarface Syndrome) will follow him like the Pied Piper(not of R&B).

BCC looked so promising. What happened? Maybe they were a little too raw. Too distinct. Too marginalized. Maybe the rappin wasn't always the tightest. Maybe they got swallowed up in the Puffy Era because they couldn't make any dance music.

Whatever it was, these guys were Brooklyn to the core... and they smoked a LOT of shit! Hence the name of the track.

Go get you a bag of that Eshkoshka from the Jamaicans on Nostrand and let this shit run a couple times.

  • I still fucks with BCC, but what happened to them niggas? Enter the Stage set the stage for Black Moon to be them niggas...but for some reason, it's slept on when the topic of hip hop classics comes up...Smiff n' Wesson definitely had potential; they even did songs with Mary J. Blige, my niggas...lol. Heltah Skeltah was on point; shit, even the BCC crew album was like that. My main question is, I understand how one MC can fall off, but how does such a raw, underground, critically acclaimed label just die, like Duck Down did? Not even with a bang, but with a whimper (Buckshot's solo opus)- Please, someone break it down for me...

  • Good Pick, this was my shit here. The whole BCC was like the alter-ego of Wu-Tang Clan. Kind of like the underdogs at the time cause Wu was poppin so hard. Kind of like Wu was the mainstream underground super group, and BCC was the underground underground supergroup.

But for those who wonders what happened to them, peep this one liner from Starange Wondah: "Fab 5 mad live blow up the spot, DRU HA get's the papers Blackmoon still get's the props". I loved this group but I hated this line cause I felt like the white boy was juicin' the group.

  • it is these sorry ass rappers that give the black community a bad name. dont they know that the rappers that talk about violence and drugs are taken to heart with the young gunz. and they wonder why society is so fuck up. i hate to say this but we must ban gangsta rap! it is the satanic force of this world that is cause'in the youth to go wild. another satanic force is ignorace. there is no more love for anyone and all folks do is hate. black people we need to stop the bullshit and step the fuck up! teach the youth that violence in a no no. using guns will get you killed and using your fist will get you locked the fuck up. black people: STOP LETTING THESE SATANIC FORCES CONTROL US! ITS MAKING US LOOK REAL BAD!

  • The best hip hop has always come from the underground...give me a group of hungry MCs rhymin' for the rent over a polished motherfucka any day...I say that as a fan, but if I were an active MC, who's to say I wouldn't try to make that cash, I mean, that's what it's all about, right? Anyways, BCC had the best of both worlds for a second....indie label independence and backpacker approval, along with airplay and noticable crossover success...what the fuck happened? Oh, by the way, the latest S&W joint was on point...maybe BCC never changed, but their audience did?

  • BCC didn't go anywhere, they didn't change their style, they didn't sell out.... in fact they did every thing the exact opposite. They stayed in the BK (and other parts of NY), they're style is still the same (although it's updated, but still incredible), and they always took shots and anyone who sold out (or anyone who they thought sold out - i.e. Biggie - which i don't agree with but oh well).

The last 3 BCC albums (Buck & 9th wonder, Smif n Wessun, and Sean P) were all classics.

Fuck G Unit, BCC is way too hip hop for that shit - besides, they have their own label, www.duckdown.com.

And to the cat talking trash saying this "gangsta rap" needs to be banned. You obviously have never heard a BCC album. Get your shit right before you pigeon hole them into a category they don't belong in.

or when ruck spit"my rapper's card got in/ yo rapper's card?/ yeah my rapper's card, it works at live parties, plus barberques, hoes joints, weed spots, etcetera" on DJClue!

Master P = Gargbage. Always was.

Ja Rule = Has to be the gayest rapper in the history of hip hop. His head is shaped like DMX and he tries to rap like Pac.

Biggie Smalls = The most overrated motherfucker in the history of rap music. That fat piece of shit sounded like a drunken bobcat at an aution sale. I cant listen too him because he puts me to sleep. His lyrics are way too general and commerical like 50 bitch. That was back in the day when I used to visit Brownsville on the regular! That shit was dirty as fuck, but that B-ville was REAL! I remember buying some bootleg Tommy Hil jeans from this Jamaican store on the Ave. Niggas was straight looking to rob me, but the cats I was rolling with kept me straight. I wore that shit when I got back to Richmond, and niggas thought that shit was real! I still, to this day, have a few pairs of those jeans that I keep as a momento of my experience in the 'ville...
