Canibus, the verbally vicious, telekinetically gifted one pleads his case to the uneducated black masses. "Nigganometry," now "Negronometry" [watch it now] for the video version, is one of my favorite jawns from the Can-I-Bus album.
This video is one hell of a trade school commercial.
"Yeah, we wanna learn, but we don't wanna write." Sigh. I'm gonna do them one better and say they don't wanna read either. Luckily, we've got the next best thing since [Crazy] Joe Clark. I haven't seen niggas this obedient in class since Morgan Freeman-King took the Louisville Slugger to motherfuckers in "Lean On Me."
It's most certainly time to change brands when little, shiny hood-ornament Canibus hops out of the cereal box. I see all of this video and album's budget went to making St. Germaine look like a fuckin Times Square panhandler. (Not even to making the video look good.) Someone laminated a Somalian child and forced him to dance for food. That's how these damn record labels work, man!
Dude is posin like a Greco-Roman athlete! His statue got pink gums still. Someone should have told him not to open his mouth. Is this supposed to be a subliminal parody of LL Cool J in the "Doin' It" video? I mean, if you're gonna go all out like that... naked looking like the T-1000, you might as well have you some bitches running around in front of your brand-new, chrome sex pistol. If Wyclef made Canibus do this video, then he definitely spoiled it. All these "Steve Harvey Show" extras they got to play students might as well have taken the day off. The video is ass. I still like the song though. I just can't believe he made a video for this shit, nor can I believe the lengths dude went to so that he might glorify his bird-like physique.

Canibus is the best that I've heard so far lyrically. The shit he says is so advanced i.e. how Rakim was on another level in the 80's.

Lets get the facts straight, LL was imtimidated by Canibus. They did a song together with Red and Meth and LL did not like Canibus's lyrics because he so claimed it was dissing him but it was outshining him. So LL had Bis come back and re-do his lyrics, Bis agreed because he was LL's no#1 fan. Then LL went behind him and dissed Bis about the mic on the arm. Then that when all hell broke loose. Bis won people, LL just had Def Jam and the media ban the dude because he became a HUGE problem for their prized Emcee and the Label.

Personally, I think that Canibus won the Rap Battle against LL. But because he was so new to the game, and LL was backed by a major recording label (Def Jam), Canibus was pronounced the Loser of the battle, and ultimately ostracized until he was virtually non-existant. If the playing field was even, Canibus would have destroyed LL. Lyrically, Canibus is alot more skilled than LL- past or present.

Dude has the capability of being a lyrical legend but just went in the wrong direction.
His lyrics are out there, way out there...Its good when you have a bit of creative freedom...but some dudes need guidance when it comes to making a marketable album...look at Common (BE). We also see a lesser evidence of this in some of Nas's work.
Raw lyrical prowess is one thing...but you need great beats and proper direction to have an album thats a keeper.
Clef couldn't give dude that.
Anyone who thinks L.L. won that battle does not know what hip-hop is and should not be on this blog.

At one point Canibus was an untouchable lyricist. With mind numbing metaphors that wern't even fathomable by most emcee's. He was the mixtape king also.
Canibus changed the way mixtapes were made.(featuring just one artist) and made everone step there rap game up.
