Everything evolves. And it's not our old asses that dictate s**t...it's these younger people. Everyone that keeps saying "bring hip-hop back to '95" is very delusional. Think about it, that was us back then...11 years ago most of us was in the age range of 10 to 20 years old and very easy to influence. A lot of the shit we listened to then was considered garbage by our peers who was saying we need to take it back to "'85".
Snap music is not crap by any means and just because Yung Joc doesn't meet or exceed your 11 yr old standards doesn't mean it's bad. Most of us listened to songs named "Blue Cheese", and songs with party theme like "Saturday by the Jungle Brothers", "Buddy", and other songs. This is what worked for us then, and as the music changed, most of our music taste changed. Lyrics went from being simple and dance related, to political, to lyrical,to grimey, to gangsta, and back to simple and dance related. The thing that got most of you cats in a uproar is because it's not New York putting out all the music and trens, it's been Atlanta. A rapper from any region doesn't have to be the best lyrical assassin, he/she just has to know how to seize the opportunity and sell their product.
hip hop has changed, get used to it. Ya'll act like it ain't supposed to change.
