  • Peace, The Mecca is on the blog first. Ron, this NWA joint is crazy. Definatly in the top five as far as violence is concerned. Just curious, why the violent theme this week? It's actually the last thing we need at the begining of the summer, you know how niggas (used correctly) act when it get's hot.
What happened to MC Ren? He was my favorite rapper in NWA after "that bitch O'shea" left. He was a BEAST on the Eazy-E album and both NWA albums. I even spent my LAST $7 in college to buy his wack ass EP. That cat owes me some ca ca cash.

  • The immortal Chris Rock said it best..."It's harrrd to defend hip hop anymore". My thoughts exactly. The topic of "violent videos" is....innapropriate at this point and time. Sigh, where's Chuck D when you need him?

  • Peace, Naj, Ronnie Mexx and chevy g. Miami was crazy. I had a great time BUT I did keep my ears open for new songs. All you Snappers get ready for "The Bunny Hop" (wtf) and "The Cookie Monster"(??????). These are quite possibly 2 of the worst songs I have evr heard. If they become hits, I'm done with hip-hop, period.

Dboy, You Can't Ban The Snowman.....

Was Yella and Admiral D the same person? I'm prayin' for Onyx "Throw Ya Gunz" THE MOST INTIMIDATING Rap video of all time. Good Look Ronnie Mexxx.

  • I don't know about violent videos, but, one of the most violent and creative rappers comes to mind; Ganksta NIP. His first album, the South Park Psycho, was so graphic. Listeners knew he wasn't serious, but, you had to wonder about that dude.

With lines like, "Niggas come quick, ya'll ass better run, I'm havin' a sale on bitches, two for the price of one." Or, "The other day, I had to run to room quick, my ex-gal was jackin off with a broomstick. I thought the bitch was a acrobat, she put her head between her legs and started eatin her own cat. Will I ever forget it? I doubt it. I almost bust a nut just from thinking about it." How about, "Sick in the head, blood shed on a nail bed, you wanna a new leg? Give me some needle and thread, so I can sew you one. Cause I'm in it to win it, my horoscope said Imma die in twenty minutes."

That cd is so rare now, it's damn near impossible to find at a reasonable price. If you do find it or have it, please know that I don't condone what he said on the cd. Just, that it is pure art and entertainment.

    Damn.....ya'll smell that?

  • What about "By the time I get 2 Arizona" by P.E.? that was considered 2 be a violent video at the time, at least that video was violent 4 a reason, but I'm with gregsimmsjr, WE NEED CHUCK D. 2 COME BACK AND SAVE THE DAY!!!

P.S. 2 the suburban kids who think the ghetto is cool; "If U've never been 2 the ghetto, don't ever come 2 the ghetto, because U would'nt understand the ghetto, so stay the FUCK outta the ghetto!"

  • Peace, Naj. That Horrorcore reference keeps comin up. I remeber Russ simmons claiming "Horrorcore is the FUTURE of hip hop" Talk about being wrong. I personally thing The Crystal Method video (can't remember the name) was the most violent video ever. The joint when the chick was taking e, coke & heroine. I think the video ends with her killing someone.

  • May 30, 2006 12:27 PM
  • Meccadon says...
  • Naj, HELL NO!!! I heard Rick Ross so many times this weekend, I had to check my bag to make sure there wasn't a couple of bricks in there before I left. Nice chicks, good weather and nice cars, that's it. Miami doesn't seem to have a centralized Middle/Upper class black community. It was either catz were dirt po' (so poor they can't afford the or) or they were ballin out of control. It's a nice place to visit BUT I'd never live there. FUCKIN RICK ROSS

  • May 30, 2006 12:32 PM
  • Chevy G. Hustle says...
  • Yeah Naj, that Bunny Hop shit gave me a headache. That song is TERRIBLE. But it all makes sense now. Mecca says one of the cats from D4L is responsible for this crime.

I don't want anyone to think I'm hating, but if you listen to the Bunny Hop, you can't tell me that is not trash.

  • May 30, 2006 12:38 PM
  • Ron Mexico says...
  • Hey guys.

    Thanks for feeling "The List."

I hear what y'all are saying about the violence not being appropriate. We've done 3 lists so far and we're keeping them pertinent to what was actually going on in the week prior. The big news last week was Beanie Sigel's shooting. A lot of rappers and weed-carriers have been getting hit lately... that's why we came up with that topic. Killa Season dropped the week before that... etc...

Of course, I'm just one dude with his own warped views on this hip-hop shit. I'll never get the lists completely right. I'm always open to suggestions, and I'll keep these blogs coming on List days (Tuesdays) to get feedback and shit like that.

    Holler.

    Peace, y'all.

  • May 30, 2006 12:39 PM
  • Naj says...
  • Yep horrorcore...Damn, Russ!
    Nepotism is a muthafucka-lol

The ill part is he (50) did a video for 'Heat' and that shit was real gutta, it was w/ the special edition DVD he put out. Life's on the line is kinda ill too...they show it on MTV jams.

I think part of a video being violent is how gritty it looks.

99 problems had that Jay scene, but being in black n white made it raw...
Come clean by Jeru, Ghetto Bastard (niggas chasing niggas w/ machetes is ill imagery), and Shook Ones had less violence but made me think "oh shit, them NY niggas got it rough!"

Damn D4L...it's like Gremlins...they're feeding each other at 12:01 and jumpin in the pool at the Y and multiplying.

  • Wassup Naj,
My favorite N.W.A. album is "Efil4zaggiN". "Real Ni@@as" is my favorite cut also "Real Ni@@as Don't Die". The production on this album transends ALL genres. It's on par with MJ's "Off The Wall" and Quincy Jones' "Q's Juke Joint". People like to think that "The Chronic" was Dre's opus but "Efil4zaggiN" is were Dre showed his ass production wise. Check out "Just Don't Bite It Pt.2", the most mysogonistic, woman-hating song ever recorded but that shit was hot. Even the skits were hot. Especially the D.O.C. as "Willy Johnson". Fukkin' hilarious.

  • When that video came out most of the rappers today were youngsters who were sitting by the T.V. soaking up all those negative connotations, which took hold in their subconcious to only manifest itself in the saturated arena of gangsta rap and cb-4 rappers that we have today!.
Most of the rappers today are the same studios gangstas as were N.W.A back then!.
That N.W.A movement is what really killed HIP HOP!!!!!!!!......

  • Meccadon : Whats good fella? What in the fuck is a 'Bunny Hop Song'? Don't tell me its one of those Southern snap joints? No hate on Southern hip-hop but I ain't feelin that snap shit. How does the dance go anyways? Might have to bust it out at the club this weekend!!

R-FIGGZ : I know you big into the originators of this hip-hop shit, Marly Marl, Lovebug Starski, Kid Capri, Tribe etc and I respect that fully but you really htink NWA killed hip-hop? It certainly bought about negativity to hip-hop but you really thikn it destroyed it? Interested in your thoughts.

  • Niggaz4Life: The best hip-hop album of all-time? Yep. I know y'all is laughin' at me right now, but right now go listen to it. 18 tracks with no filler on it. The best produced album of the last 20 years. This is Dre's best album. I love Ice Cube, even own Death Certificate,(which is also better than Straight Outta Compton)but I don't miss him on this record. Eazy, Ren, and Dre do just fine.

LMAO. Listen to "Find em, fuck 'em, and Flee" then ask yourself if 50 or Luda, or Jay, or any of these other clowns deserve to be called "gangsta".

Don't you think it's funny that hip-hop is more violent in real life now that they can't be as violent on record? Think about it. You never heard Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Ice-T, The Geto Boys, and KRS-ONE(when he was gangsta) getting shot at everyday on the news. Where are they all at now? Dre, Cube, Scarface, and Ice-T are all making money on the business end, and doing their thing legally, and without all those bullshit fights, and shootouts that dumbasses like 50 and them end up in. Just shows you that it's not the music. It's the lack of intelligence of the niggaz in it.
