Wayne has made a DRASTIC change lyrically, since his earlier days.... hmmm, I smell a ghostwriter. Heard about Gillie Da Kid (Major Figgas) possibly writing The Carter 1, but I'm not buyin' Wayne's: "I don't write rhymes on paper" bullshit. Never really believed when Jay said it either. It's possible to write rhymes and recite them to the point where when u enter the booth, u can remember it word for word. I don't think these dudes are THAT genius to say some of the catchy lines they say, w/o puttin' it on paper.

Also, what's good with Weezy and Birdman trying to stress so hard in their videos that they have possible "Blood affiliations?" Back in the day, they would be jumping up in down with a variety of bandanas hanging on every part of their bodies... now SUDDENLY it's just red....

I like Weezy and he's definitely grown on me, but I'm not fully convinced about him as a serious artist yet.

As far as Wayne goes, Skdamc put it out there yesterday, and it's on another known website that Gilly da Kid ghostwrites for him.

Anyone who knows about Gilly, knows his wordplay is nice-but he was getting heat up here for sounding like Jay.
But since Gilly's been signed to Cash Money, Wayne's delivery is more like some up North shit to the point if you had some old Major Figgas freestlyes, and played the first track on Carter II or even the intro on Carter I behind it-they're almost identical.

If Gilly's not writing his shit, he's definitely doing some hands on coaching. Not that Wayne couldn't write before, but his wordplay is more advanced. But how many of your fave MCs actually write...I still liked the album though.

Lil Wayne gets no hate from me, it's just that I come the school where TRUE M.C.'s write there own lyrics. We have to evolved to the point where it's about a "package" or "image". I remember when people wondered what LL or RunDMC looked like. Wondered what made Grand Master Caz or Melle Mel great MC's. We appreciated the contrast of the Chuck D./Flavor Flav dynamic much in the same way our elders appreciated the James Brown/Bobby Byrd contrast. Real heads know: "Everybody Over There!!!! Get into it!! Lil Wayne grew up in the "bizness" much like Bow Wow and came in on "gimmicks". Where Lil Bow Wow had the cuteness factor, nobody cared if he wrote his lyrics because he had the "package" of cuteness and the JD machine behind him. Lil Wayne had the opposite. His "package" was hwo could such a young cat have seen so much negativity and be able to express it so vicerally? The mistake BOTH of them made to this true head is becoming unjustfiably arrogant with thee "borrowed" skills. T.I. AND Mad Skills have "ghostwritten" for Bow Wow and Gilly Da Kid has "tutored"(written) for Lil Wayne. I could understand LL's arrogance or KRS-One's ego because I've seen them bust original self-written raps and freestyles. KRS-One at a basketball court in West Philly and LL at the Aftermidnight Club downtown Philly. Thia affirmed there authenticity as M.C.'s to me. There are MANY rappers but precious few M.C.'s.

I think the video is aiight, but it falls into to same ole rapper/hustler metaphor that's truly tired in this game called Hip-Hop. He gets props for showing NYC love by filming it in Harlem and by extension acknowledging the birthplace of Hip-Hop. It's a pretty ill producer here in Chi named Harvey All-Bangers, and bound by contracts he couldn't tell me names but he told me that people would be VERY shocked and appauled if they knew who all was using ghost writers and (Believe it or not) Ghost Producers!!! A lot of these producers are buying beats from no-name cats who would sell it for like $2000, and they turn around and sell it to a heavy weight for $80 Stacks. He said labels buy not only beats but lyrics and mainly hooks and concepts.
