So, I am back in effect… thanks to my new friends at Comcast. And just in time because last night’s episode did not disappoint. (Note: Yeah, I know I sound like a real fan whenever I write this blog… Sad part is, I am. And normally, I am a hater. Trust.)
First off, having Samuel L. Jackson guest star as the angry, violent, hip-hop loving, gun toting associate of Ed Wuncler III (voiced by the ever-underrated Charlie Murphy) was pure genius. Especially, when Sam got into full Pulp Fiction mode. “Say what again? I dare you.”
And anal rape? Well, who isn’t afraid of that!?!? That’s why I continue in my efforts to “Start Snitching.” I am not trying to be caught up like my man Tom DuBois because I “fit the description.”
Ironically, the end of the episode is what was really interesting to me. Despite the episode lampooning a bunch of hot-button topics from police brutality and black-on-black violence (We all know niggas who would kill over a game of Madden) to the War in Iraq to the prison system, making Wuncler and his partner the heroes at the end of the convenience store stand-off really speaks volumes about America’s fears about terrorism.
I know it’s only cartoon, but since when is an artist’s intent and vision hampered by his medium?
Damn, I didn’t mean to get that deep on a Monday afternoon. So, I will leave you with this… the classic line of the episode to me was when DuBois asked Huey to find the real X-Box killer… “Nigga, I’m only ten!”

I missed it. DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree, we dont know yet if 50 cent will be the best one.. until he dies, every1 will realize that he is better than faggot ass biggie and pac.. thats all i gotta say..
OHHHH I almost forgot, 50 has beef with samuel Jackson, he said it on hot97, haha fiddy said he could only play his grandpas role. Flex suggested 50 to dess Jackson when he wins an OSCAR

I've been giving the show a chance, but it is not working for me. Sometimes cartoons are better in print than on TV.
It's obvious what they were trying to say with the episode last night, but it didn't work. The show is supposed to be entertaining while sending a message, but it has become too caught up in the message and has forgotten to make you laugh every once in a while.
The scene where the crazy white dudes stopped chasing the X-Box Killer and went to rob the store was ridiculous. There was no point in changing the story line at this point, and it was a weak attempt to portray the racism and fear that is prevelant in our culture. Making people look really stupid unnecessarily (like the cop who "saw the gun") takes away from the power of the message that they are trying to send.
Respect the intelligence of your viewers and make the show mirror that... and don't forget to make it FUNNY!
THE PROBLEM WITH 50 CENT IS THAT HE GOT TOO BIG TOO QUICK SO PPL HATE
G-UNIT
Chevy you might not understand the show if you only laughed 8 times.
DOES ANYBODY KNO WHERE TO DOWLOAD THIS??? I LIVE IN EUROPE I CANT SEE IT FROM HERE!!
I REALLY WANNA FUCKIN SEE, ANYBODY CAN HELP ME OUT HERE?! SAFE HOMEBOYZ
The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence!!!
Hell Yeah
i'm sorry to inform everyone on this but 50 cent sucks, he's sucked ever since he was signed to aftermath, his only good album was power of the dollar it was never released, can we please stop comparing this asshole to pac and big or anybody with skills. 50 belongs in his own category with fags like southstar and J-Kwon, he is the king of shitty hip hop that white people in trailer parks listen while they smoke crank and get paranoid. FUCK G UNIT
DOES ANYBODY KNO WHERE TO DOWLOAD THIS??? I LIVE IN EUROPE I CANT SEE IT FROM HERE!!
I REALLY WANNA FUCKIN SEE, ANYBODY CAN HELP ME OUT HERE?! SAFE HOMEBOYZ
AND PAT HESS URE RIGHT!
this subject has nothing to do with Curtis Ratson. If you want to talk about Curtis go to www.payphone911.com and talk about it. The episode is funny as hell this time.
I yall had to catch the classic reference to Menace 2 Society when they went to the crib and Awax was fixing breakfast. Faggot Ass Chauncy said "Yo Wax, fix me som links wit dem grits. I'm hungrier than a muhphucka!" Yo that had me in tears last night. I can't wait till these hit DVD.
Another funny episode... Huey had me rolling on the floor... Def my fav new comedy on right now... Damn this shit is borderline crack.
And why do all these little boys keep bringing up 50 in threads that have abosolutely no relevance to him??? and If you seriously think 50 is better than pac and/or big I'm guessing your 50 cent is sitting right beside backstreet boys and kelly clarkson in your cd library... that ain't hip hop its hip pop... Don't get it twisted or fucked up.
you europeans don't know 'bout E-MULE ? go check it out B!
"Making people look really stupid unnecessarily (like the cop who "saw the gun") takes away from the power of the message that they are trying to send." - G Off
I think the exaggeration has purpose, but that's just me. I found that entire ordeal hilarious. It's funny because it's exaggerated, but the exaggeration really isn't as extreme as we would like.
"Do they speak English in 'What?!?!'"
Man, the fact that Sam Jackson even did that role and made the Pulp Fiction references makes this episode worth watching.
Tom shook in jail was pretty funny too.
I think Terry Crews was the dude with the 30-inch dick who made him pick up the soap in his nightmare.
"You didn't even wash behind your ears yet!"
Ron- I agree that the exaggeration isn't as extreme as we would hope, but I think the show could use some subtlety in it's message.
I feel like someone is pounding the message into my head... instead of having the comedy be the focus while making a statement about the times we live in at the same time.
This is what I mean about respecting our intelligence, if they would trust us to "get" the more subtle points about current events in our culture, they would be freed up to entertain.
Sam did bless us with some Pulp Fiction love though. That was great.
See... I think Boondocks is funny, but even the strip pounds/pounded. They don't hold back. McGruder is a man with a message... maybe moreso a mirror... slightly funhoused, but who isn't biased in some way?
I feel you... and that is why the show is important: it makes people think and talk about current events and issues.
I'm just not that into it. I feel like there is a lot of anger in the show that is hard to take sometimes.
It's early though, and I'll give it more time to grow on me.
that episode was absolutely hilarious...and with the addition of Samuel L., I almost cried laughin'. "The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence!!!" Ron Mexico and G Off I like how you both discussed your points without talking down to one another or putting each other down. Finally some intelligence on the boards. For me personally...The Boondocks is a great show...maybe it should be on Comedy Central though...
why you bitches always bring up 50 cent its alot of faggots in this world get off his dick its becoming evident that not only will a bitch jump on a nigga dick if he got money but so will dudes once again this blog has nothing to do with 50 and he is brought in some how some way
I have to admit, this show is hillarious. It's animation is top notch compared to a lot of other shows made by black people. It's so well written and it keeps you entertained while it delivers it's message. This show does what it set out to do, make you laugh while being educational. It truly is one of the best shows on network televison right now. Just one more reason to watch Cartoon Network. I know I'm coppin these when they hit DVD.
What time and what channel does this show come on? I have yet to see it.
it comes on at 1100 and on the cartoonnetwork chanel
What day?
English, motherfucker, do you speak it?!?!?!?!
i think the show was pretty good but a lot of people are mistaking the show for something that its not. take the show for what it is and stop trying to say it isnt funny enough. this isnt family guy, or southpark, or the simpsons.
i feel that a lot of people want it to be sooooo incredibly funny because its one of the only credible black cartoon on television.
i understand but lets not bash the show but bash the tv stations for not having more variety on their stations.
the episode was a metaphor. w and his friend represent george w and dick cheny. they went into the store owned by people who looked "terroristic". those people represent iraq. they said they didn't have weapons, but w and homey said that they had weapons but really had no basis for their assumption. just like real life with weapons of mass destruction. the cop represents the soldiers who are serving the government but are being brainwashed to fight for what they can't see or believe in. then the store owners fought back. huey said of course they'll shoot back if you shoot at them. just like iraq. then the crowd cheered for w and his friend when they came out even though it was all bullshit. the whole point of w being a "thug" is because that is what george w might as well be. i'm telling ya...
Shamrock, Good break down.
why is it that Sam and Mr Murphy were playing white dudes? Maybe it is my tv cuz they looked WHITE??? The show was great. I love the "SAY WHAT ONE MORE TIME!"
LOL...IF YOU THINK THE SHOW WAS A METAPHOR THEN YOURE A...HOLD ON...HMMM...YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
LOL...ITS SO OBVIOUS WHY DIDNT I SEE THAT? HOMEY YOU GOT IT ALL IN THAT ONE STATEMENT MANN....
THIS IS WHAT WE NEED POSTED ON THIS FORUM.
when i broke it down for my patnas, we was all gone off that purple kush. it sounds even better when i ain't blown...
that kush will definitely open your mind up.
good job on the parallel.
p.s.: it's sad when we have an exchange that doesn't involve disrespecting one another and it seems out of place.
too many nigga moments on these blogs.
WTF???? This aint about 50 cent goddamnit! Get off his dick! The episode was showing us how the leaders of our country were acting towards terrorists ( He had a gun but yet nobody saw it) You idiots need to pay attention!) Thats how easy it is for them to get over on us, even a cartoon can fool you! Shamrock put it best.
Shamrock your right except for one thing the troops aren't brainwashed thats their job if they they refuse to fight they go to jail and they family can't eat. when they signed up nobody thought there would be another war.
Just somtehing i noticed. is it me or does Ed wunker remind you of George W, when i was watching all i saw was W and Chaney, it was alot of shit behind the images. The red white and blue on the rag. That terrorism shit. Word, The fact that he is a dumb ass and in the previous joints his pops siad hell be president one day.
Damn i aint read all the posts. Too much fifty blah blah blah.
Yo im wack as shit.
Damn this shit is the funniest new show going on television right now. If u can't see the genius in them two white boys runnin up in spots slappin brothas down with trench coats on and AK's, you're straight trippin'. I am the stone that the builder refused...
Why is it when black people put out something it can't be just entertainment. We always have to stick some fuckin Militant G-code to be relevant. Be glad that we have a show on such a white network as Cartoon Network (Ted Turner owns the shit niggaz) The show is hilarious as hell. When Huey told ol boy..."Nigga, I'm only Ten." I got a big all laugh out of that... cause he also happens to be the most level headed member of the cast. I wonder if white people sit back and discuss their shows like this. "I didn't like her performance...she's to Trailer Park" I mean do they really care that much...shit with such shows as Blue Collar TV and the whole American Pie Series...do they get into deep involved discussions about how movie and small screen antics are affecting their race negatively? Do they really care about how other races will view them based on a particular show? NAW NIGGAZ its just entertainment. Just enjoy the show and quit trying to make it out to be some big "NIGGAZ ARE ALWAYS SHOWING THEY'RE ASSES" type of thang
If you're familiar wit mIRC, you can download the Boondocks from...

::smh:: at tha haterz
anywayz ::smile:: dat shidd waz funni az hell!!! payce!!!!
I dont think everyone here realizes how much niggas love R. Kelly. And I am suprised noone felt the need to comment on how he turned a boxing match into a concert.
Yo this cartoon is going to go down in history as one of the BEST cartoons ever made, like Bevis and Butthead, Ren and Stimpy, American Dad, Family Guy, The Simpsons, the short lived Futurama.
I thought this episodes was the truth. Shamrock, I would never have thought about the entire episode as Bush and Chaney with the weapons of mass destruction analagy. You have a sharp mind brotha. I wish more black people had sharp minds like that. That was very insightful.
To the person who asked why these two white characters have black voice over: I think its better for them to have black voices. You know how ignorant they sounded? Episode 1, W came off hard as hell. Charley Murphey has that type of voice. Sammuel L. Jackson's voice over was also very impressive. Would you rather them sound like Clay Aiken trying to sound urban? They come off as an extreme example of the so-called "wigga".
I also thought that the part when they were running around the streets whoopin brotha's asses was too funny. One of them even took someone's chain. This shows you how ignorant and bold they were. How many white boys do you know of who act like they are so black to the point where they will run down into the hood and beat the shit out of niggas? One of them had their chain taken!
Yeah, that was "Damon" from Friday After Next in that shower part. He was big as hell.
Still, the whole Bush and Chaney thing was pretty intresting. Now I will go and forward this information to my friends and see what they think about it. Very good insight my brotha. I have learned alot in these 5 minutes.
Last night I watched the "anally raped" episode again. I could see the message behind the story. Sam Jax and Charlie Murph's characters' were George Bush and Dick Cheney. When they are riding in the car, notice the guy with the "W"(Bush) is driving and the guy with the suit on(Cheney) is talking to the kids. This is exactly what has happened to us as Americans. We have George Bush driving us to war and other people are trying to explain to us why we are going to war. Notice as Cheney is talking to the kids in the backseat, they do not understand what he is talking about. Its like a lot of double talk "known unknowns and unknown knowns" "What?". That is what the government is doing to us. Also look closely at how they are looking for the X Box killer. The X Box killer represents Osama bin Laden. They go to the hood and start kickin down doors without talking to anyone. That is what we did and are still doing in Iraq. We bust into people's homes and take their belongings and laugh about it. The kids tell George and Dick that all they had to do was talk to the people and they would of found out who and what the X Box killer looked like. It was funny how the y had the description and location of the X Box killer(OSAMA) but they take a detour to the store owned by Arabic people(Iraq) and try to steal some shit but get caught. Then they have to point out to the police man(United Nations) that the Arabic man has a weapon that no one sees. Thats what George and Dick did! They told all of the countries in the UN that Iraq had weapons of Mass Destruction. And if you were not down for the cause then you must be against the United States. And who wants to be against the most powerful nation in the world?! And even today, no one has seen these weapons. The cartoon is very political and has a lot of hidden messages. I don't know if I noticed these parrellelisms because I'm in the military or maybe it was just that blatant that everyone else got it also. The writer of the show is a genius for putting this on television. That's how hip hop used to be. Hip hop used to be uplifting for our people and was a way for us to express ourselves without the man knowing.
"They're gunna rape you, that's what they're gunna do."
whats the song in the gun fight scene? it was tight.
more parallels:
Saddam-like store owner: "Come on, you remember me! Your father helped me build this store!"
"You're looking for the Korean shop, North of here!"
"The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence" is a DIRECT quote from Donald Rumsfeld. And the character's name was "Gin Rummy"
I hope this is a good sign, cause eps 1-4 weren't that great.
