The Boondocks: Granddad's Ho

Last night, “The Boondocks” posed an age-old question. A question that has haunted and taunted man since the beginning of time… “Can you turn a ho into a housewife?”
I know it is something I have pondered time in again as I am in the club. Who hasn’t? But do you really think you can take the chick in the club who is dropping like she’s got the night off from Magic City home to meet moms? Or that mami in the tight jeans and tube top at the sneaker spot is worthy of meeting your kids? Well, Grandad did last night when he “picked up” Cristal (“like the champagne”) at the grocery store.
From the start, all the tell tale signs were there… She always wanted money, ran real fast in high heels, kept asking if he was a cop and always ducked when she was a man in a purple suit (No, not Barney). Everyone saw it but good ole Grandad. Damn.
And yes, I know these are fictional characters but it does raise a valid point. People are who they are. You can’t make someone something they’re not. And the same can be said for a lot of people. If you’re a hood, you’re a hood. If you’re a ho, you’re a ho. If you’re a sell-out, you’re a sell-out. So, why try to change someone? Because we think we can.
I have dated my fair share of dumb chicks that I pray will get smarter or ghetto chicks who I hope I can work the Pretty Woman angle on but, at the end of the day. They who they are. They have to want to change.
So, I guess you can’t turn a ho into a housewife, but you sure can have fun trying. Just remember, “Game recognizes game… and you’re looking unfamiliar.”

i've tried to get into this show but something about white/hispanic looking characters drawn in an asian illustration style that sound like black women posing as black teenagers just isn't working for me.
I love this show. I think the anime-style artwork is dope.
I know it's not for everyone, but this is definitely my kind of humor.

What I can say about it is heh she gettin that money, most of these chicks that talk terrible about hoes are often the ones that fuck for free. So if a chick wants to get paid to get laid so be it. Yeah the show is funny and a breath of fresh air in a society that only gives hip hop a very short leash. Let just make sure we walk away with some insight to how some of our day to day prejudices work. This show isn't just pokin' fun a caucasians and the famous. It's showing a great example of the dysfunctional thinking of our hip hop generation.

This show is an honest commentary into our lives. I've loved this comic strip a long time because of its honestly and lack of restraint. Aaron is awesome. The Riley character is truly indictive of some of the ways our children are programmed to think about the "gangsta...pimp..thug life" culture.

Seriously, dude, there really are lots of white people that don't automatically think you're going to shoplift when you walk into a retail store, that don't automatically assume that you listen to rap, and don't automatically assume, well, any damn thing about any particular black person. The color of my skin does not define my morals, ethics or my belief system.
Yes, there are racist & bigoted white people. But to say that all white people are racist is no different than saying all black people like grape soda (which by the way, I didn't even know was a stereotype about black people until Foxxy Love on Drawn Together brought it to my attention).

My closest friend is black, and its a total non-issue. We're friends because we have similar interests and have a blast when we hang out, not because of some melanin.
Here's the deal; whether you're black or white, racism is simply a sign that you're a lazy fuck. If you're too damn lazy to find a unique reason to hate a specific individual, and choose to lump people into easy to hate groups, then you're pretty pathetic. I choose to like or dislike someone based on their personality and attitude, not skin color.

I'm so feeling this show. It's refreshing to see an animated black show with intelligent characters and the typical dumb ass n1ggas that we see running around in the street.
It's so damn real. I think all the stuff that Huey Freeman is thinking everyday as I walk through the streets and see my folks actin' up. Why folks? Why can't we conduct ourselves like we've got some sense in public? I do want to see some positive Black females in this show though.
