For "Throwback Thursday" we’re gonna take it back like 20 years. Man... This shit makes me wanna go get my adidas out the closet. Be right back!

Legendary rap trio Run DMC burst onto the pop scene noting parallels and bridging the gap between rappin and rockin. In their own special way, they let the world know that rap was OUR rock. At this point in the game, these dudes as a collective were definitely the kang of ghetto rock. “King of Rock” [watch it now] was one of many similar visual offerings from the crew that played a huge role in the popularization of our genre. In other words… Thanks to these cats… I’M GETTIN’ MONEY, NIGGAAAAAAA!
Don’t these cats look old as fuck already? This is like 1984… They look 30. Especially DMC. They both look like they weren’t quite ready to let go of the 70s. DMC looks straight out of a blaxploitation film, while Run had the meanest sideburns this side of Ashanti.
After snuffing an old ass security guard who tells them they don’t belong, DJ Run and Daryl Mac proceed to violate the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Museum on some Rosewood shit.
Let’s rap for a second, people. I’ve always pondered the significance of their experience in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. You would think they are paying homage to the genre by performing with a full rock band on the stage, but they are straight destroying shit and clowning recent music history. Thoughts? Air em out.
I gotta say though… That mocking guitar dance Run does is funny as fuck.
What kind of security lets them do all that shit? If this were really the case, there wouldn’t have been anything left for Run DMC to trash. Crazed white folks would have already ransacked everything from coke and Twinkies Elvis to cousin-fucking Jerry Lee Lewis.
There’s a strange irony in Run DMC watching themselves in the vintage black-and-white television. Like the artists they clowned on, they have become relics, throwbacks and ambassadors to an era lost. Rewind on your earlier days with me. If you weren’t even a twinkle in your pappy’s nuts yet, then come on down for some American History X. You’ll thank me later.
