I must apologize to Dem Franchise Boyz for being so hard on them. Apparently there are far greater evils in the world of rap... Namely their poorly developed clones.
D4L wants to share their sweet tooth with the world, and their knots of singles with some skrippers in the hip-hop farce "Laffy Taffy." [watch it now] Sweet Jesus, it's shit like this that gives the South a bad name. If I were below the Mason-Dixon I'd be offended. We might as well watch some blackface. In the meantime, we'll watch some gulz shake the Laffy Taffy and some brothers make damn fools of themselves.
This lead nigga would make a great hypeman if he weren’t too busy trynna be a rapper. He seriously looks like T.I.’s touchdown cousin. In fact, this video has more touchdowns than Peyton Manning last season.
One of these dudes I continually confuse with Jimmy Jones. Jim Jones could rap circles around every last one of these niggas. I’m not talking about the Diplomat. I’m talking about the crazy white dude with the Kool-Aid.

This is the dumbest ass song I have EVER heard. I would prefer to watch Pretty Ricky's Grind With Me video in a continuous loop for 72 hours than to watch this bullshit. They are a low-budget ass Franchise Boys (and that's real sad). The fucked up part about it is that here in Detroit, grown ass niggas be riding around listening to this bullshit.

Ok, I have to wiegh in on this, I love my rap music, and I love my intelligent thugs, but something has to give. I won't attempt to come off high and mighty, or holier than thou. Nor will I attempt (because I'm female to take the degrading route). Because the reality is there is a time and place for everything, and unfortunately what we are now seeing is "strip hop" being filtered to the public in a form of rap...or hip hop, (whatever). Bottom line this is music for strippers, period. I think Dem Franchise Boys are good when I'm in the club and I've had 4 or 5 Long Islands, and then I go home. But to even discuss them, and talk about the destruction that lies in wait for our culture because of them is asinine. Ever since 2LiveCrew and Luke Skywalker, there has always been a market for this type of music, face it strippers need theme songs too. Thugs have them, back packers have them, afrocentrics, and bud smokers have them, so this just rounds out the bunch. And I don't take music like this seriously, and no I don't feel that hip hop culture is going to implode because of it. Now if you do want to argue about this type of music, then discuss the impact these songs have on children when they are played during the hours of 3:30pm and 8:30pm when young children are more likely to hear it. But outside of that there is a coon in every region. And as a 25+ southerner with education I do take exception to the fact that The south is "being disgraced". As long as we have Bun B, Scarface, Devin the Dude, TI, Outkast, and hell Lil' Wayne we can be respected just like any other region. Some of you bloggers need to take a laxative or something....something!

Thanks Que, You are making a valid point as well, and my counter argument would be, how come when people talk about hip hop, they focus on 50 Cent, Eminem, or Jay-Z. IMO they are not the best out, or to ever do it...that is a never ending debate with no solution. What about the other artists out there with real topics and creative inspirations that don't get play; i.e. Jean Gray, Dead Prez, or The Roots, who have struggled over the years to go platinum? The point I want to make is that there is a segment of the African American community that is willing to go black face for a dollar, and the ones who want to keep there integrity intact, struggle, or get overlooked. But don't fret or worry, because they won't be around next year, and Scarfce, TI and the rest will still be puttin' out good music. Plus fighting stereotypes has always been a hip hop struggle. When Onyx came out they were popular because of the "jinglin' baby back lash". After a while it wasn't cool in rap to be party oriented. Now there's a gangsta rap backlash, then there will be another backpack backlash. And as the newest members to the foray it is now the south's turn to receive backlash. People have been complainin' since '97 with Master P. I personally think it's healthy because it weeds out the weak, only the strong will survive.
Also my other theory is with the insurgence of independent lables, we may be hearing more wackness in the future, (And I'm not dissing indie's I personally welcome them) because now if you can afford the studio time, and Protools, then all you gotta do is sell your disc out the back of your trunk.
The only real solution I see is to educate yourself as a consumer, and explore the music, if you like it buy it, if it's wack don't buy it, cause face it..one man's trash is another man's treasure....And as far as people trying to use songs like these to label an entire region is silly. We forgave Jigga for '03 Bonnie and Clyde(the most blasphemous song ever made!)We forgave the West Coast for Funky Cold Medina, so we will bounce back, and continue to get our stuff out there and be heard.

CTFU! Man, I agree with a lot of ya'll and also disagree. I've been living in Atlanta since I was 2, so i'm basically from here. Unless you've spent a great deal of your life in ATL or visited more then often, you really won't understand the music that's produced down here.
Other then T.I,Bun B, Outkast, Little Brother, Scarface, etc...you've got the other people who like to make music for clubs/parties/strip clubs. It's not exactly going to be "Lyrical", because they just trying to get the people to dance. If you notice, the south has always been known for some fly ass beats, rather they lyrical rappers or not. Not to discriminate upon north and south, but ya'll know damn well a lot of northern rappers don't really have songs with beats the ladies/fellas can dance to. Be in the club two-stepping or just bobbing ya' head. The south has always been about dancing, that's why everybody can seriously dance they a$$ off down here. I know ya'll remember "BASS MUSIC", because it was born in the South. "Laffy Taffy" and whatever other song like it, is mainly for good times.
I think "Rap" is more of the expressive and movement lyrics, as where Hip Hop is more of the rapping to have fun or lift people up. We not trying to hear everybodies tells of woe and sob stories;like we don't have shit we go through ourselves. Life is depressing enough as it is, so we turn to that feel good music that just make you wanna say "fuck it" and shake yo' ass.
While ya'll dissing and degrading people, rather the music is good or not, atleast give props to people that are pursuing a dream. They not becoming another statistic to the streets and they've got goals and motivations. I think it's sad ya'll can't even take out time to realize that big picture.
Besides, ya'll not hearing any of these people claiming to be the "best rapper", so why bitch? They obviously know why they in the industry, that's why they doing what they do. First of all, GO-GO has been around before rap and it still is. Back in the day Salt and Pepa, Kid-N-Play, Doug E. Fresh,Redman, Ice Cube, Tupac..yes Pac, Scarface, and last week Mr.Cheeks, all came and come to DC and when they do they get on stage and party with our Go-Go-Bands. So do not try to include us in the wack category. If you have never been to a "live show"...which btw is what a Go-Go is, then you aint sayin' nothin'!

I'm in a love/hate relationship with this song...I hate it because it's so silly but that's why I love it at the same time. Lines like "Girls call me Jolly Rancha 'cause I stay so hard you be suckin for a long time oh my God" are so truthfully witty (jolly ranchers are hard...and you do have to suck em for a long time!). I think it's one of those songs you're not supposed 2 take serious. Like in the video the "oh I think they like me" dance (I don't know what it's called) he took it to a whole NEW level...he added shakes and flexibility to it.
Why do I hate this song? Because after the first verse it's like the rest are trying to be serious.

Just because something that was along ago established, doesn't mean it's more accepted as of today, or liked less. So that wasn't a good point. Just because specific known rappers/singers got on stage and partied with Go-Go bands, doesn't mean it's the shit. Just because they like it, doesn't mean the rest of the "known" rappers/singers do, too. They could of just danced and went along with it, for promotional reasons. "Hey, Mr.Cheeks likes Go-Go, so he aint' so bad after all." You have to consider all possible angles.
That's just another case of "good for the clubs/parties, but not to bump in your car." Another side of music to just have fun to, but not to be taken seriously.
What is the standard for good music? Where is the measuring table for OUR music. I'm from the Southside of Chicago and that song is disturbing. That's all we about now is women shaking their asses. It's nothing good about that song. It's a disgrace and it's embarrassing to urban America. At what price do we sell our soul for a little money and fame?
