What better way to follow up your ONE hot joint than with a single that is an interpolation of a line of that very song? There isn’t, especially if you’re a member of Dem Franchise Boyz. The video for their new single “I Think They Like Me” [watch it now] features guest spots from commissioner Jermaine Dupri, first lady Da Brat and first dawg Bow Wow. Damn, all this one’s missing is Kriss Kross and Jagged Edge, huh?
The So So Def guy at the beginning of the video is pretty funny. I never realized how much he looked like Thirst. Thank god his voice isn’t as annoying. I’m sure Lil' Penny is sittin at home eatin a bowl of Honey Comb like “Fuck ALL them niggas.”
Look at them! It’s like A Ghetto Chorus Line. I love it! Lesson #1: If you and your boys can synchronize a 2 step while you rap, you increase your chances of getting signed by 730%. You can’t help but like these guys, right? They look like the dudes from your corner got signed, and are happy as hell about it!
The Lollipop King represents with a verse that fits the mood of the song. I wasn’t looking for Pulitzer Prize-winning work on a song called “I Think They Like Me” by the White Tee guys (that’s their name to me). I was just glad there was limited discussion of drug-dealing less and objectification of women than usual.
