Straight out of Puffy prison and off the streets of the N.O. comes your favorite "Da Band" member to clown on, Young City AKA C-H-O-PEEEEEEEE... P-E-ARRRRRRRA! His album is cut. The video single is out. "I See You Lil Daddy" is about to rip up The Negro Channel like Katrina. Let's get to the eye of this storm.
I always loved his immature ignorant ass. I understand where he’s coming from though. You get your hands on some cheese that doesn’t come in a cardboard block, you might not know how to act. Niggas got television cameras all in your face. You livin in “The Real World – Puffy’s House.” Some people can’t quite digest all that, especially when they are brimming with talent and blinded by hunger.
With that said, talking about the video now, this has got to be one of the ugliest cats I’ve seen. He should have a “no close-up” clause in his contract. Damn!
I know Weezy F. likes to call himself Baby’s son, but don’t you think we found Baby’s REAL son? Ever since his audition on Making The Band, I was like… Where he from? N.O.? Even phenomenal videos contain things to laugh at. People watching and reading along at their cubicles on a hard day have a coke and a smile and appreciate this. It's my job to talk about them, or excavate them if need be.
I understand what music videos are. But do they have to maintain certain cliches and stereotypes for effective promotion? Those are the main things I attack when I do these blogs. I want things to be better for us. Most people's only understanding of black people come from these videos. Think about that. It's not so bad to us, because we know what's what, but imagine someone in Japan watching BET on satellite... or someone in North Dakota who's never seen an ACTUAL black person before. Would you like them to think of you based solely on what they've seen in these "promotional materials" that are made by rich white people who only make money off of us like cattle?
I attack cliche. I attack the status quo. I push people to think. I do it with laughter. Some people don't like change. Some people don't quite get it. That's cool. People also used to think the earth was flat and that the sun revolved around it.

I know growing up i tape rap videos and re-watched them daily. Thank god for me i grew up in the era when hip-hop was a motivational tool our community used to uplift. today record exec and these coon ass niggas who want a quick buck, have helped change the message to more of a who better than who, with no type of knowledge or critical thinking tactics being presented in any of the music today. and when our community is watching this type of "programming"(they dont call it that for nothing) on a daily basis brain washing will occur. Programming and propaganda is even used by our government as a war tactic. and as we all see the "programming" is working well when you see the type of music that is in demand today. Unfortunatly in todays world of hip-hop we have to many hustler rapping and only a hand full of artist who are truelly about having a message that they want us to know and learn from.
