Alright y'all, no video today. It's "Talkin' VMAs"
None of THAT this time...
But I saw some truly horrible television programming last night. I didn't even see all of it, so I need y'all to holler about a lot of this, but I'm gonna go ahead and talk about what I DID see. Since eeeeeeeveryone else is doin' it, much like the anti-drug commercials of the 80s, Ron Mexico is gonna be a chicken AND a turkey.
Let's jump right into it.
50 Cent & Fat Joe going back and forth at the VMA is some serious 4th grade shit. While I found what Joe said to be funny, I'm amazed that I am watching some grown ass men act like children on national TV. Older white folks all over the country are like "fuckin' rappers!" I mean, you don't see The White Stripes goin after Sum 41 like that. No one's attacking the Foo Fighters' street credibility (though there's an affidavit floating around the net with Dave Grohl's name on it). At least the dude from the White Stripes will take them knuckles to your face behind the scenes. Obviously there's no real drama here. They got the whole internet goin back and forth talking about who's realer. Both of these niggas are businessmen and are laughing to the bank as their popularities are through the roof right now. Clickety-clank, bitches!
While on the subject of Fat Joe, why in the world did they have 3 of the biggest names in reggaeton come up and do 30 second performances before announcing the nominees for BEST HIP-HOP VIDEO? My mind is boggled by this. However, props to Calderon. That suit was clean. Only a Puerto Rican can pull off a suit that color with a fro. Nigga looked like Boricua Napoleon Dynamite.
What is the difference between "Best Hip-Hop Video" and "Best Rap Video." WE know that rap is a subset of hip-hop... but MTV doesn't. So what the fuck do they mean?
Kanye & Jamie Foxx' performance further emphasizes my thought that Kanye and Jamie should be a group. They work very well together, as awkward as Kanye is. Jamie Foxx was working his ass off... runnin around with them white folks belting that hook about 730 times at the top of his lungs. That shit is not as easy as it looks.
Gwen Stefani sold the fuck out... Hollerback Girl needs to go somewhere. You do one track with Eve and you think you're a homegirl now? Are we supposed to think you're Puerto Rican? Go get some doorknockers! What the fuck happened to the lead singer on "Tragic Kingdom." That was a respectable artist on a classic LP. I think the other members of No Doubt have the last laugh. While Gwen is paid out the ass, G-Money is looking for her soul. She lost that shit in 2000 and hasn't seen it since.
By far the most appalling part of the evening's festivities (from the little I saw) was Puffy's Orchestra. It's one thing to pay respect to Biggie... but goddammit, that was shameless SELF promotion more than anything. "Look at me! I'm DIDDY! I can wave a stick and pretend to conduct an orchestra under some Biggie raps! It's BIGGIE raps, so you can't diss me!"
Fuck that. I'm dissin'! Puffy waving that baton around is disrespect to anyone who's ever put in time learning how to play an instrument. In Puffy's quest to make himself larger than he is, the media whore forgot that HE was supposed to be playing Pop from the Barber Shop! Not Snoop "I'm high out of my mind" Doggy Dogg, who must have smoked enough reefer to forget that he pledged beef against the Bad Boy camp as a member of Death Row at the time.

Yo Darth, Fat Joe started it off when he said he felt safe with all the security and police courtesy of G unit. After 50 and yayo performed 50 called out fat joe (on live t.v.) saying "fuck fat joe" "pussy".
I am SURE that 50 Cent would NOT have said ANYTHING about Fat Joe if Joe would NOT have said anything.
1.) Fat Joe decided to say the comment at a time when Reggaeton was supposed to finally getting his shine. Fat Joe has nothing to do with Spanish Hip-Hop besides the fact that he has Puerto Rican blood. If any of the people in the Ill Community watch "Primer Impacto," a spanish new show. Fat Joe's spanish is terrible. He never showed love to the spanish Hip-Hop did until commercial America did.
2.) You guys are ignorant to not see this as a blatant cheap shot. The funny thing is that Fat Joe has as much if not more security than 50 Cent has. So does almost every other rapper in the industry. They are celebrities! If they didn't have security they would all be dead or not own any jewlery (which most of them don't OWN any jewlery anyway - Jadakiss being the best example).
3.) I agree that the comment Joe made was funny. I am glad he did it. He needs to do SOMETHING to sell his record. Atlantic put fowarth 6 million dollars for marketing and promotion for Joe's album, and his album flopped badly! Me being a Fat Joe fan, I blam the fans. You guys did not represent him well! He had more "Bitch Songs" on his record than 50 had and it STILL didn't sell. The guy was on the Andy Milanaukas (spelling???) Show playing battleship for crying outloud! Yet he has not even gone gold as of now yet. That is just plain sad
4.) Being in the game for a long time means NOTHING. That does NOT make you an OG. It just shows that you are a lousy businessman. Fat Joe has been in the game so long and he has released flop after flop after flop. I have liked all of his CDs and I never understood why he didn't sell. He lost, because even if the hood has love for him, Commercial America can't care less about Fat Joe. "The hood" doesn't buy CDs they buy bootlegs. So that is why Fat Joe doesn't sell!
5.) Anyone who says 50 is R&B and he sings too much. Go listen to "So Much More," "Hold You Down," etc. Fat Joe is the main man doing that shit. I mean Fat Joe has BEEN doing this, but nobody says shit about him?
6.) Guys don't hate 50 because he is a good businessman. Ofcourse he uses beef to sell records. But if that is all he did, his albums wouldn't sell. 50 Cent actually releases good music. The Massacre is a GREAT album. I think it is hilarious how people are hating on him. Go listen to "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," he says that people are gonna hate him soon. He says that he is gonna beef with guys. The fact is that the man is responsible for the selling of 30 million records. That's roughly $260,000,000 for the respective labels. Come on guys, by next year he will still be hot. Because he will not care about being a rapper. The man is already retiring to be a CEO.
I was surprised to hear the off camera cussing at Fat Joe when he was walking off stage because I live on the Left Coast and they could have bleeped it out if they wanted to. I guess 50 ran towards the stage and if you watch it again you can see Joe look over to where the cussing was coming from and he got a serious look on his face like some shit was about to go down.
Puff is usually corny as hell, so with low expectations coming in, I thought he did a decent job. The performances were nice, even though I felt bad for Mobb Deep because they had to run out on stage knowing that they wouldn't get to spit their verses from the Outta Control Remix.
Dime watch: Ciara was looking nice as Missy's girlfriend, Eva Longoria was looking damn good in her little swimsuit (Tony Parker is the MVP of the Spurs for pulling her sexy ass), but the finest one up there was Jessica Alba for sure. She had Dwyane Wade forgetting about God for a minute.
