Latoya London feat. Black Thought - "Appreciate"

Before we get started today, I must say one thing. I’m glad as hell Latoya London is finally on. I thought she got jerked in the American Idol competition.
For hump day, we’re gonna rock with Latoya and Black Thought on her debut single and video “Appreciate.” [watch it now] I dunno mane. She shoulda called this one “It’s Raining Mens.”
She’s like a young Gladys Knight going shopping on the Amistad. She definitely found a Joseph Cinque or two on the playground.
Actually… She may have found Kunta Kente himself! Black Thought is looking very LeVar Burton in this video. Boooo @ the American Idol reference (though I do believe Latoya and Fantasia should have been going head to head in the final. Fuck a Diana DiGarmo).
What was with the presidential podium in the middle of the playground? Stephon Marbury doesn’t even get that kind of love at the Rucker. I ain’t never seen Black Thought handle the pill. I tell you what, if he can do some AND 1 shit with that suit on, in the middle of the summer… he deserves a podium.
Latoya London strikes me as a crazy freak. She got a policeman on her shoulder menacingly swinging his handcuffs. She’s going around licking people’s ice cream cones and shit. I mean, damn girl… easy! She lookin like she’s askin for the train right there on the corner. Also… Have you ever seen so many grown ass men on the ice cream line with no children?
Latoya has all the tools to make it big. She’s a looker. She’s got a hell of a voice. She can dance a little. She even appears to have a little charisma. What she needs is that breakout record. While I like this tune, and the video is alright… I don’t think this is quite it. Toya… Get a hold of the label and tell them you need Nas instead of Black Thought. Fuck, even Common at this point would be a leg up.

LATOYA DEFINATELY GOT JERKED ON AMERICAN IDOL. SHE HAS AGREAT VOIVE AND IS A NICE INSERT INTO THE R N B REGIME. HOPE HER ALBUM ROCKS BETTER THAN LOCK JAW...OOPS I MEANT FANTASIA.
I gess the song was ok but I will never sit throught that video again. If I want to watch a balck person talk about being a hoe, infront of half naked black people of the oppoiset sex I'll stay up & watch uncut.
Black Thought droped the ball on this song. He mush have wrote his verse while Latoya was showing him some oral appreciation.
She didn't do bad for her first time out. I like the way she showed just a lil bit of around the way stank to her otherwise classy image. Not too much, but enough to intrigue me.
I thought the video was interrupted by PBS' Reading Rainbow when Black(Levar Burton)Thought(thanks for the assist Mex)started to spit his verse. It was also nice to see her sending a positive shout out to the fellas instead of waiting to exhale on us. Although I'm sure that's not too far behind.
This song is ok. It's not what she needs to get big. This would be like that first song that an artist puts out to get their now out, and then do a better one to send 2 b.e.t. Best of luck to her tho.
yo! i'm glad to see my homie up there doing her thing. she's good peoples on and off the stage. i know she'll get to where she wants to be! me and her used to perform back in high school. i like the track. i think black thought could have come a little better. i'm sure they didn't get a common or someone like that b/c of budget purposes. the other thing too is that she's on a classy label. peak/concord records, (ray charles, etc...).
Um... first of all...wtf was up with that red lipstick...her stylist needs to be slapped for that...
As for the video... no good... I agree Ms. London comes off as a freak with her icecream stealing self... and yeah...why was she in the locker room? Anyhoo... The song is cool but she needs to bring something else to table if she's gonna stick around... Maybe she should ask G to get her the Fresh Prince... seriously...wtf was Black Thought thinkin?!?
