Well, whaddaya know? Fiddy is back on “Talkin’ Videos!”
This time he’s walking into congratulations for a job well done on a truly hilarious video. 50 Cent’s digitally-enhanced string of disses takes the cake (for now). Let’s all prepare to give 50 some more money and attention today as we sing along to another one of his infectious hooks. Fortunately for us, this time we’ll have something entertaining to view as we do so. Clickety-clank, clickety-clank, he used Fat Joe for a Piggy Bank [watch it now].
That’s right. He may as well have put one of those 50 Cent pieces (pun intended) in Fat Joe’s ass… right on Trinity Avenue. In other words, this one hurts.
Highly reminiscent of the N64-style graphics of Redman’s turn-of-the-millennium videos, 50 lines up a pretty true-to-life story to wrap around his video-game clowning. Some kids in the hood, fresh off of listening to "The Massacre" are bored out of their minds and looking for something to do. Surely not a coincidence, the youngest one goes to the arcade to play his favorite rapper’s video game.
Hilarity ensues as soon as Little Ghetto Boy pushes start. 50’s first opponent in “Punch Out?” A Puerto Rican King Hippo? Oh shit… nope! It’s Cook Coke Crack!
Between animated shots of 50 Cent rocking your favorite rappers’ snotboxes, we see (GASP) animated re-enactments of what he does in EVERY video: Profiling with the Gorillas, and driving an expensive "automobile machine" behind some terror-proof tints. It’s really weird how the video representation looks EXACTLY like how they really pose and dance.
Kudos for the Jadakiss/Ninja Turtle combination. It was damn near perfectly executed. They even picked the right turtle! From the moment the notion was brought into my mind that Jada kinda looked like a TMNT, I thought “Yeah, that nigga is Raphael to the fullest.” Even AOL had to say “Oh shit! Is that Jada as a Ninja Turtle?” (I am NOT making that shit up. It's really thurr.)
50 Cent should have been boxing in videos a long time ago. He could have avoided all the backlash he’s received for dethroning Ja Rule only to become him by throwing the hands and well… NOT being Ja Rule redux.
The most piercing clowning was of one of my favorite MCs. He ain’t right for dressing Nas up in a Captain Save-A-Ho suit and having him chase the milkshake truck, but that shit is funny as fuck. Admit it!
Mr. Popeye-head’s box is brilliant. My main problem with “The Documentary” was that Game couldn’t go 4 bars without either quoting another MC or blatantly namedropping. 50’s right on both counts there. "Certified Wanksta," however, was a term coined on the original version of the remix (damn, so there’s a remix remix?) by Lil' Flip. (That’s for all you Dipset dickriders who think I don’t know what’s up.)
Is the dancing girl supposed to be Olivia? Because the cartoon dances WAY better.

The only joke 50 needs to do Jamal in is an image of a generic black man in prison. Pretty rough. Shyne’s response will either have to come in 5 years, or through a $5 MCI connection for a collect call.

Notice how the Murder Inc. game is out of commission. Nice touch! Way to kick ‘em while they’re down. Irv is trying to stay out of prison, and Ja is probably crying somewhere… enraged that his spot was taken by a dude who wanted to BE Ja Rule all along.
I get the point of putting Cassidy in the pink clothes and letting him get scrapped out by the children, but I dunno man… evidence suggests that those kids are far more likely to get rained on with an AK-47 (in the back as they are fleeing) right there on the subway platform. Cassidy doesn’t seem like the smartest cat when it comes to them hommies. He sloppy, son!
While this video is fucking hilarious, the truest and most painful irony comes in that the clickety-clank DOES actually come from wide-eyed little kids who fantasize about being, or at least allying with the hottest rapper in the game (whoever that may be). I know little kids who wear their G-Unit halter-tops with pride and swear they would clap Ja Rule or Fat Joe if they ever saw him (for 50... kinda like little Tony Yayos). They don’t even know why. Making a cartoon video makes us adults laugh, but it affects the children a little differently.
Shit… I know if LL Cool J had a cartoon where he scrapped out Ice-T when I was a kid, every light-skinned nigga with a pony tail in my elementary school would have gotten their asses beat at lunchtime… wait… that happened already, nevermind.

That's the problem. No one's concerned with the skills anymore. Say something like that 20 years ago, you're laughed at. Say MC Shan was better than KRS because he was signed, making more money. How is the video profit? Videos cost money to make and don't generate anything besides promotion. 50 didn't need that video to sell more copies of "The Massacre." That video's purpose is to keep people liking him and G-Unit for next time. It has little to do with lyrics.

Some people didn't get into the game to run anything but lyrics. Nas came into the game with purer intentions than "running the game." Nas got a little greedy in the middle of his career and fucked up. Not because he couldn't be a commercial MC, because he still sold records, but because his fans could not accept him as a sellout. That in and of itself is a measure of respect, when you hand your fans bullshit and they think so highly of you, that they don't WANT it. All people want from 50 is image.
