No, not HIM

Warming up for the new Pretty Ricky video (your #1 request AGAIN), I’m gonna tenderize a new target and take jabs at a familiar friend at the same time. The new Pretty Ricky blog is like the most anticipated shit ever. Niggas is seriously emailin’ about it. I gotta have a release date now or something. I know niggas don’t want to wait for it past Friday, though. Shit, I even heard it got bootlegged on the internet already. Some niggas got the shit on Limewire.

However, today is all about another debacle. Jive Records newcomer Chris Brown allies with Dipset Albatross Gang official Juelz Santana for Brown's leadoff single and video "Run It" [watch it now]. You would think this would be a rap song... possibly about robbing people, right? Well, I'm sorry to disappoint. I don't know if they are though.

Pastor Troy - "Just To Fight"

Pastor-Troy.jpg

We’re not having luck with the Troys here on "Talkin’ Videos," are we? Both Cowboy and Clergy fail to deliver in their latest attempts. Pastor Troy’s new video “Just To Fight” [watch it now] had me all kinds of gassed up. Here I am waiting for some “Vica Versa” shit, and I get THIS. Wait a minute… I’m so silly. I was watching UnCut. What was I thinking? Maybe I was on whatever Pastor was on when he named his shit "Vica Versa." (It's fucked up on a few levels)

Alright y'all, no video today. It's "Talkin' VMAs"

brit-madonna.jpg

None of THAT this time...

But I saw some truly horrible television programming last night. I didn't even see all of it, so I need y'all to holler about a lot of this, but I'm gonna go ahead and talk about what I DID see. Since eeeeeeeveryone else is doin' it, much like the anti-drug commercials of the 80s, Ron Mexico is gonna be a chicken AND a turkey.

SOHH All-Access: Redman - "Rush The Security"

This weekend we’re doing something special for y’all. Ron Mexico is going to take you on an SOHH All-Access, behind-the-scenes look at the making of Redman’s new video “Rush The Security.”

redman.jpg

That’s right. Funk Doc is back and long overdue! Courtesy of director J. Jesses Smith, (who has directed some of your favorite videos, you just don’t know it) Ronnie Mexxx got the first hand scoop from the director’s seat and beyond… Of course, I’m going to share with you, our loyal readers.

Hot Karl - "Sump'n Changed"

I tripped up on the "throwback"... So we gon keep it kosher today.

hk_01.bmp

I thought a "Hot Karl" was some deviant sexual act. Apparently, it's a brand of well-to-do rapper from SoCal. His new video "Sump'n Changed" [watch it now] finds Don Karlos looking to define himself... instead of allowing others to pigeon-hole him.

Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx - "Gold Digger"

Fuck Ready For The World and New Edition. She said she want some child support and alimony.

kanye-jamie.jpg

Awwww... How cute! He's wearing his boyfriend's chain!

Super-couple Kanye West and Jamie Foxx team up yet again to lament the trollops, skeezers, skip-skaps and scallywhops of the world in “Gold Digger” [watch it now].

50 Cent - "Piggy Bank"

Well, whaddaya know? Fiddy is back on “Talkin’ Videos!”

50 Cent concert.jpg

This time he’s walking into congratulations for a job well done on a truly hilarious video. 50 Cent’s digitally-enhanced string of disses takes the cake (for now). Let’s all prepare to give 50 some more money and attention today as we sing along to another one of his infectious hooks. Fortunately for us, this time we’ll have something entertaining to view as we do so. Clickety-clank, clickety-clank, he used Fat Joe for a Piggy Bank [watch it now].

Trina feat. Lil' Wayne - "Don't Trip"

trina-top1.jpg

Damn, that's an ashy grill! Umm... I mean... Welcome back to the Extreme Hoin’ Challenge! Here at the world famous EHC all your dreams can come true… if you can shake it like a saltshaker, mami! I’m your host, Ron Mexico.

Trina and Lil’ Wayne sponsor what’s sure to be a high-quality evening of whoring from men and women alike in “Don’t Trip” [watch it now]. This one’s gonna be a scorcher! Let’s get ready to TRIFLE!!!!!

Sean Paul - "We Be Burnin'"

It’s the return of Shauna-Paul (phonetically, of course.)

seanpaul.JPG

For the weekend me a go tek it back a yard! Actually, it looks like Sean Paul is taking us to the desert in his new video “We Be Burnin’” [windows media] high med low [real] rm stream. You won’t BELIEVE what we find Sean “burnin’.” Atlantic Records hooked us up with more stream options than usual, so thank the major, friends!

Del tha Funkee Homosapien - "Sleepin' On My Couch"

"Yeah, I remember grindin' my feet in Del mama couch! He a rappin' ass nigga. He can afford another one!"

del-hierobat.jpg

Ever had a bum-ass nigga crashed out, drooling on your (or your mama’s) couch? Ever feel like your homie lived at your place? If so, this week’s edition of “Throwback Thursday” is exclusively for YOU! If you haven’t, you probably just woke up on somebody’s couch this morning.

We’re taking it all the way back to a magical place called 1991. The Hieroglyphics crew’s marquee MC Del the Funkee Homosapien burst onto the scene with the classic LP “I Wish My Brother George Was Here.” After the relatively heady “Mistadobalina” single and video ran their course Del showed us a bit of the lighter side of his brain with one of my personal favorite videos, “Sleepin’ On My Couch.” [watch it now] Ironically, I got some negroes to spatula off of the upholstery as we speak... Be right back.

AZ - "The Come Up"

Remember them days?

firm.jpg

Someone tell Nas' underboss that we already have a Birdman.

The long-awaited return of underrated lyricist AZ in "The Come Up" [watch it now] contains a spectacular project pigeon show, and unfortunately little else.

C-Rayz Walz - "Blackout"

walz.jpg

You've heard of Trading Places, even Trading Spaces... Well, today we're Trading RACES. Maybe I can ACTUALLY be Mexican then! In his new video "Blackout," [watch it now] New York underground mainstay C-Rayz Walz, with help from a really cheap camera and some muppets, helps us realize this fantasy, no matter how psychologically unhealthy it may be.

P$C feat. Lil' Scrappy - "I'm A King"

Now remember children… I can gitcha block knock'tawwwwff!

I woke up fresh enough to start this week feeling like royalty. With that said, why not share a video that best expresses how I feel on such a lovely day? The P.$.C. and Lil' Scrappy team up for the anthem of the new Southern oligarchy "I'm A King." [watch it now] Now, I'm fresh... dressed... like Terrence Howard!

I have a special treat for my “Trapped In The Closet” lovers and haters alike!

We’re gonna watch us some cartoons this weekend! Courtesy of the funkdigital blog, We’ll be watching the SIMS re-enactment of parts 1-5 of the “Trapped In The Closet” saga [watch it now]. This should hold us all over until 6-10 come out.

Eric B. & Rakim - "Move The Crowd"

Fuck Bush! It's Election Day for Hip-Hop!

paid-in-full.jpg

This week's edition of "Throwback Thursday" takes us back to the mini-era that belonged damn near exclusively to a nigga the world was not ready for. With turntablism and street muscle effectively handled by DJ Eric B., Rakim was free to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting, and still developing world of rap. "Move The Crowd" [watch it now] was his inauguration.

Latoya London feat. Black Thought - "Appreciate"

Before we get started today, I must say one thing. I’m glad as hell Latoya London is finally on. I thought she got jerked in the American Idol competition.

latoya.jpg

For hump day, we’re gonna rock with Latoya and Black Thought on her debut single and video “Appreciate.” [watch it now] I dunno mane. She shoulda called this one “It’s Raining Mens.”

$tar Easy feat. Big Smoove - "Georgia"

Wow, I think these guys may be from Georgia.

star.jpg

Today’s selection is directed by Walter McElroy, jr. and comes from an up-and-coming collective of fellas from some state in the south that is not made entirely evident. $tar Easy (with a dollar sign) and crooner partner Big Smoove (with a “v”) sample the legendary Ray Charles for a solid single and a rather charming video entitled “Georgia.” [watch it now]

Hey, did you hear that? Sounds like a big black train!

cowboy.jpg

No, this isn’t gangbang porn, but it’s probably equally offensive to some. Just for this special jigapoo, we’re going to give you a 2-for-1 to start off the week. That’s right, eight minutes of Cowboy Troy performing his minstrel show classics, “I Play Chicken With The Train” and “If You Don’t Wanna Love Me” [watch them now]. I would have completed the trifecta with "I Play Nice Nice For Massa" featuring Michael Clarke Duncan, but I couldn't find a link to the video. Welcome to “Hick-Hop.” This is more fun than a barrel of watermelons!

50 Cent feat. Mobb Deep - "Outta Control (Remix)"

Can you hear me now?… Goooooood!

50_Playin_the_Game2.JPG

G-G-G-Gee You Knit is reloaded like TP3. The short lament over the loss of Game came to a screeching halt with the signing of New York street-rap legends Mobb Deep and M.O.P. Both are prominently featured in the song and video combination for 50 Cent’s “Outta Control (Remix)” [watch it now] You’re aware of the concept of “proof of life,” well this one is an attempt at “proof of gangsta.”

Brand Nubian - "Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down"

Damn, is it [Throwback] Thursday already?

brandnubian.jpg

Continuing in our commitment to provide you with quality throwbacks… (not just shit that happens to be out of the mainstream rotation), we proudly present a Grand Puba-less Brand Nubian with a true classic song and video combination. “Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down” [watch it now] is not just a classic combination of long song titles and pre-pop attitude, but it’s got a collection of beatdown shots that would never be allowed on MTV or The Negro Channel anymore.

Mariah Carey - "Shake It Off"

mariah_carey.jpg

In case you were unaware, Mimi has been emancipated! Part of the healing process for Mariah Carey apparently includes shirking bad relationships of the past. Mariah shows us all how to “Shake It Off” [watch it now] with her newest video. As fine as Mariah been lookin lately, shake it off might be a metaphor for other things among some of the male viewers.

Charlie Wilson - "Charlie, Last Name Wilson"

CharlieWilson_GapBand.jpg

Ron Isley must be having health problems. The lead singer of The Gap Band is R. Kelly’s newest reclamation project. Today’s victim, Charlie Wilson’s introduction to a third generation, “Charlie, Last Name Wilson” [watch it now] has all the charisma and flair you’d come to expect from “the old guy at the club.”

Damn, I thought Rick James was dead.

David Banner - "Play"

banner-live.bmp

With a little help from Lil Flip, David Banner made dem gulz get down on the flo. Luckily for us, he also makes them get down in the gym. David Banner begins his new life as a personal trainer in “Play.” [watch it now] Apparently Western Kenya ain’t the only rapper with a workout plan.
