I'm glad the Grand Champion is back! I'm sorry he's a crackhead though.
The Ruff Ryders' legacy is quickly coming to a close. The collective performance of DMX, Jadakiss, Kartoon and Flashy on "Get Wild," [watch it now] the most cliche hook and title in 3 years, is merely confirmation of the beginning of the end. I think pretending to be an ATF officer was the beginning of the end for DMX though.
The triumphal entry of the big dog was merely puppy chow. After a wait longer than DMX should ever cause, he greets his loyal listeners with a lackluster verse at best. Donning a leather vest to hide the weight loss and sunglasses to hide the drugged eyes, DMX stumbles on and off of this one like THAT uncle. You know... the one your parents never leave you alone with.
Jay-to-the-MWAH is the only redeeming characeteristic of this debacle. Unfortunately, as Jadakiss knows better than any of us, a solid verse does not a quality song make. I must say though, for once I like the orange and blue combination. It's usually hideous.
Jada's last line touches on a very important point "All I ever had to do in the firt place was gat nasty." Did you hear that children? Jada fucked up his career trying to be a flashy media pawn chasing dollars alone and forsaking artistry. He's found more success than ever being himself a lot more. That's commendable.

Its funny to read these comments and I really have to wonder at this stage of the game in Hip Hop what is it that drives the fans. Instead of listening to the music we like to comment on the persons lifestyle. I think that the Mike Jones and the other wacknees has altered our vision of what is real Hip Hop and what radio is pimpin. Compare for just ONE second. Do you think Mike Jones, for example, is a better lyricist than Kartoon? His flow might not match some of the all time greats, but he's not a sub par lyricist. DMX might not have the same spark that he did back in 1999, but I believe he can bring it back. The promotion is all wrong. It sucks that Mike Jones can go damn near platinum, but Jin can only go gold.
I'm sticking with the Ruff Ryders. No matter what anybody else has to say. Even if not the Ruff Ryders, I'm sticking to the lyricists. They're slept on. Simple as that.
