R. Kelly - "Trapped in the Closet (Parts I & II)"

When he’s not making “Pee On You” videos, he’s composing something either truly brilliant or painfully ignorant. With R. Kelly you usually have to pick your poison. Kellz’ newest video effort “Trapped in the Closet” walks a very fine line between genius and ignorance. 
While it’s neither “I Believe I Can Fly” nor “You Remind Me of My Jeep”, Kelly gives you a dash of the thought provoking without sparing us the lunacy you’ve come to expect from this troubled, troubled soul. Since I just love to hook y’all up, I’m giving you both parts of the video “Trapped in the Closet Pt. I” [watch it now] and “Trapped In The Closet Pt. II” [watch it now], both courtesy from the top shottas at Jamaica Live! (A next time, Star!) If you haven’t seen this video already, I don’t want to give away the special surprise ending… but I probably will anyway. (Hint: Watch the clips before you continue!)
R. Kelly must have been talking to the Beacon Theater ghetto musical people. He made a video about a hiding in the closet from the pastor, whose trifling wife he just skeezed-out after a night of clubbing gone horribly wrong for both parties (who are both married). Damn, I swear I’ve seen this scene in “Mama, I Want To Sing With Jesus Because A Good Man Is Hard To Find!” Isn’t this shit set in the smallest apartment EVER? Have you ever been inside an apartment that nice, yet the main entrance led right into the master bedroom? Something is terribly wrong with this layout. A question for the fellas: If you were in Kelly’s situation… would you have hesitated so long with that baretta? If I felt my life was in danger, I would have ended the discussion by either letting off a round or backing out of the room. None of that “Wait for my lover to come upstairs” shit. Lover could be bringing the burner up! If you’re now asking yourself why I say “lover” instead of “mistress” or “girlfriend,” you should probably be asking yourself why the video is named “Trapped in the Closet.” Ta Da! Pastor opens the door to reveal that his lover is a MAN! Get it! Trapped in the closet! *snicker snicker* While he’s a coward for being a “down low” brotha, I respect the Pastor’s gangsta for calling homie upstairs. If I were his lover however, I’d be PISSED. How you gonna tell the dude to come upstairs so he can walk into a room with your wife and some strange man (who looks eerily like R. Kelly holding a gun)?! If they all survive this… unnamed lover should beat the Pastor’s ass! If y’all want, I’ll hook you up with parts 3-5 if he releases videos for them. Just say the word. Ok-I've seen R.Kelly part one but i couldn't get part 2...so I can't really comment on that one, but i think the whole series is somewhat of another "ghetto opera" whom would have enough time to write a whole story. Have you heard part 4? I'm curious to know what the video will look like. other than that, i don't have much to say.

SERIOUS POINT OF THE DAY: Hmm, After years of the witnessing the same type of story line come from R. Kelly over and over again (him being confronted by the husband of the woman he is sleeping with) I have come to the conclusion that R. Kelly has an issue with self-esteem. HE somehow feels validated in knowing (or pretending) that he is being chosen over someone else. His insecurities deepen as we see he is attracted to young girls who can't tell the difference between good dick and wack dick. Insecure men love to be with young girls who they can manipulate.
QUESTION: Do you think that R. Kelly himself is inadvertently trying to come out of the closet??

Yes! There is a fine line between genious and insanity. I think its safe to say ol Robert is a straddler. Creating soulful uplifting songs (i believe I can fly) and sexy songs to lose your virginty to (half on a baby) . . point for genious. Defication on minors, i think you know how to classify that one.
I must remind some people that the concept of this video is in no way new. Its called opera and musicals. Its been part of the ho hum culture of white folks for years. But does the genious there in lie in the ghettofication of this time old artform? Hell yeah! Black folks have been pimpin culture and items once upon a time thought of as white (the cadillac, the Jay-z prep look) for years as well as creating things unique to their own culture. (White ppl seem to do the opp. huh? ex. humpty) Though these two videos are an ornate Ricky Lake episode with much predictability, they are somewhat captivating. I don't give a fuck whether the room is 2 feet by 4 feet or whether the convo in the room went on for too long. I'm feelin these videos as much as I felt his ones wit Ron Isley. The point of the video aint that the gat was bein held up in mid air most of the time and R. didnt get gully and blast each and evryone of them triflin muthafuckas in that room. I think R.kelly should be applauded for prviding us with a mirror in which we can look at the way we behave and the people we hurt with our actions. As the bible says what you reap is what you sow. R.kelly's character is every man that has ever cheated on thier wives. The funny part to me is when R.kelly says "I have a wife at home." Kell took an old situation and made a story that gets across alot of points and does it well.

Aside from all the controversy, the fact still remains that R. Kelly is a musical genius. So what if the concept of Trapped In The Closet isn't completely original... he has managed to get the country hooked. And despite people's negative opinions about chapters 1-5, I bet those same people are itchin for chapters 6-10 to come out.
I don't support R. Kelly pissin on little girls either, but his music is the shit. You gotta give props where props are due. I just hope he changes up the background music for chapters 6-10.

Not really an RKelly fan myself, however this is not a bad effort. Eventhough I feel he could have stopped at part 3, part 4 adds fuel to the flame and in part 5, dropping all those names like that, one realizes this man was probably set up in some form or fashion.........I also suspect parts 6-10 will be released when he is. In other words, some sort of effort to stage a comeback, as his azz is going down and I think even he knows that. Damn, this almost gives credence to the saying that: those that are most creative, are the ones that are most disturbed.

Here in Chicago R. Kelly was on the radio, WGCI. He thru out some hints about Chapters 6-10(which will appear on The R in R&B Vol.2). He said these ideas are tentative and may or may not be true. But what if Kells wife was making up a false story about the policeman. She did start her sentence as if it was on the fly. What if she was actually involved with Tina or Roxanne in a threesome or gangbang. Explains a stranger just picking up the phone. Something went terribly wrong and the police had to be called out. Just so happen the officer who came was a friend of the wife. Being a friend of hers the officer agrees to stop her husband before he gets home to this confrontation. When Kells goes to the police station to confront the officer(his name and badge number is on the ticket)he finds out the truth about what was really going on his home, in his had, plus I smell cigarettes. Sorry bout that. But I think thats what's great about this song, it opens discussion and forums about what might possibly happen next. In art this song would be considered a conversation piece because it evokes a response, hate it or love it, you have to respond to it. That makes him a genius in my opinion. In Chicago we love him dearly and he is this generations equivilent to Marvin Gaye.

In any case, the musical arrangements in some of R. Kelly's songs are VERY similar to Marvin Gaye. I would say it easy to argue that R. Kelly is the Marvin Gaye of our time, just a ghetto and unrefined version. Here is a Marvin Gaye quote that could easily be mistaken as an R. Verbal you in the right direction, but the song's best device is smoke and mirrors, nothing is defined. If you listen closely you will notice the wife never admits to cheating in Part 5, she simply said "You're right about that, something did go down, but I ain't gotta turn it around, cuz what goes around comes back around". I believe it was not her getting her freak on in R-uhh's bed, instead the brother was getting frisky with his lover. The cop. Another secret that people won't address, homosexual police officers and their inmate lovers. People assume when she said "Did you forget my brother came home today?" she was talking about home from college, he may have been home from the county.So the wife at the club with the cop, and her brother chillin, see R-uhh with the skank they went to high school with like "Ohh, that's what he on?" They go back to the crib, she's drunk and falls asleep and the brother and the cop "start getting it on". Too far fetched, this R.Kelly we talking about people.
How bout this one, Tina or Roxanne is her brother. Evanston has only one high school and everybody knows everybody in Evanston. This surburbs also has the most cases of HIV per capita the any other Midwest suburb. And alot of lesbians and homosexual reside in this community, read about it in the Chicago Sun-Times. Anyways, so it is very possible in this suburb to fuck somebody that has fucked somebody you know. I'm high as hell, so don't fault me for being so observant, but have you notice that each song is exactly 3minutes and 11 seconds. If this songs was stupid or simple as alot on here claim, then why so much discussion and pondering about what happens next. The guy is a fucking GENIUS.

R. Kelly screened five of 10 chapters to his music video saga "Trapped In The Closet" at the Esquire movie theatre in Chicago on July 5. Now comes word that there are plenty more to come.
Chapters six through 10 made their musical debut in front of audiences , who got an additional surprise when Kelly acted out the words to one chapter.
The final five were filmed between July 9-10 and were co-directed by Kelly, who co-directed the first five chapters as well. The videos continue the central story based around the fictional affair Kelly had with a married woman whose husband is a gay priest.
Although Kelly's reps have been keeping quiet about the upcoming tunes, his record company revealed the new chapters are just as juicy and will keep fans guessing what will happen next.
No official date has been set on the release of the new videos. Kelly's debut, TP.3 Reloaded, was released last week.

When discussing Michael Jackson, you are discussing a man who hired the best writers in the game to write his songs his entire career... one of those writers being R. Kelly.

Michael Jackson will never be known for making great songs. Michael legacy was dancing and entertaining. R.Kelly is a songwriter and producer. There is no comparison.

I just think that is a damn shame that this man is being considered a damn "genius" for singing about a damn circle of cheating. Hey I watched all parts of the 'Trapped in the Closet' by R. Kelly last night on MTV and they were great!! The way you traced all of the songs together and the ways you placed the words that matched up wit each other was awesome!! Like at the end were ur girl cheated on you and she said that the police officer that pulled you over was the guy!! Well i Just thought they were awesome!!!
Kelly's the man.......dat's all i gotta' say bout dat....his music is tight...the lyrics really hit home and the "Trapped In The Closet" thing he's got goin' on rocks......thats an awesome story like song....its put together really well and I enjoyed it thoroughly....he makes music what it is....even though i have only seen Part 1 i was fully entertained by it...he is definitely the "R" in RNB.
