Ment-2B feat. J.R. Writer - "Wassup Wassup"

Posted on July 5, 2005 9:27 AM

These dudes are about 15 years too late with a sangin' group named Ment-2B. I guess they never got over that dream of being All 4 One when they were in 6th grade.

I’ll tell you what… In all seriousness, watching shit like this makes me feel like I might have been a little hard on Pretty Ricky. Ment-2B enlists the lyrical aid of Diplomat-trainee J.R. Writer for their single and video “Wassup, Wassup.” [watch it now]

Warning: The track sounds like they asked R. Kelly and Nokio to collaborate on something REALLY generic.

Being flanked by attractive dancers in back alleys is what it’s all about, children! THIS is why you get a rented Benz wagon! Can you feel the love? Nothin’ but love! Heavy D would be proud… if he had time to care. (I heard he kickin it with Halle Berry… but I’m not Wendy Williams or nothin’.)

What is up with their owl noise? Between this and the incessant moaning, they sound like they're doing a jungle mating call. They should have gone with the birdcall and left it at that. Apparently they’re trying to get some pigeons to flock in their direction. Maybe they had to try something different, being that the first nigga look like Gucci Mane little brother… and Ray Allen.

That’s right. This shit is nothing more than grown ass basketball player-lookin niggas with size xtra-medium track suits on. There’s something terribly wrong with this. Dudes from the rec league shouldn’t just up and make a music video whenever they want to… let alone an R&B video.

I’m not a materialistic dude (as you can probably tell by now), but damn, the wardrobe budget couldn’t have broken $200 total. From the salvation army track suits to the logo-less caps, their gear looked like hand-me-downs from a Hi-Five video.

The bad thing about it was these niggas really thought they was DOOOOOOIN IIIIIIIT with these dance steps. But they wasn’t DOOOOOOOIN IIIIIIIIIITTT!!! (a la Juelz Santana from Dipset in London). They need to go find who sold them those dance steps, beat the shit out of them, and get their money back so they can get some name-brand clothes and a brush in time for their next video.

I see by the end of the video they’re rolling with Cam’ron jr. That must explain all the pink clothes! J.R. Writer arrives fashionably late with his verse in hand. I wish I were there to tell him not to get out of the car, but to turn around… right back to Harlem and pretend like he never agreed to be on this song.

If I haven’t said enough, the girls are RUNNING from these clowns by the end of this shit!

That’s what you niggas get for trying to make a bullshit generic R&B video! Wack hip-hop is pretty bad… but ain’t nothing worse than some shitty R&B. (Testify, testify!)

J.R. Writer needs to go back to the slam dunk contest. One Cam’ron is enough. Trust me. We need “Confessions of Fire” Killa Cam back. I guess this is what happens when your album in on the shelf too long. You get a little slap happy and feature on a song like this.

Honestly, I’d hit the block before I lent my vocals to this shit. You might as well do a Mickey D’s commercial. In other words, if these niggas ain’t your cousins, this collaboration is unacceptable. Maybe this was J.R’s Dipset initiation. Warrior training, so to speak.

Questions? Comments? Requests? Thanking your stars that this wasn’t the “Push It” video? ronnie_mexxx@yahoo.com

P.S.: $10 says all 4 members of this group are virgins! Fake ass over-the-hill 112... with the black Screech as the lead singer... shameful!

  • This shit looks like a poorly shot B horror movie. When you see the random white girl walk by in the beggining you know somebody is about to be killed and unfortunately it's our ears by this booty video.

Apparently they had a "no to low budget"

Does it look like the production crew was rocking the Benz back and forth? Trying to make us believe the vehicle was moving.

How are 3 members wearing dress shirts and suit coats and the one nigga is wearing his high school letter jacket. I know most video vixens are supposed to be scantily dressed and even they were looking at him like,"You making me sweat."

How long did it take to learn the dance steps? What was the random shot of 4 cats "pon-ing" the river, boat, fork what the fuck ever towards the end of the video.

Also, if you pay attention, you can see the girl who is now in Omarion's "Touch" video. The group ain't blowin' up, but the dancer is. Ain't that a bitch!(No pun intended)

  • OMG, and I thought that Fatty Koo was some bullshit. JR Writer should have learned something by now. Up and coming rappers should never spit bars on weak R&B tracks. The result could be very damaging to your career and our ears. This reminds me of a cat named Joe Budden who made the career ending decision to spit on Marques Houston's "Up in the club". I have a proposition. I propose that this so called group immediately change their name to Ment-2 Stop all those in favor say I!

  • lmao @ this review...I can't believe a member of dipset would be a part of this garbage. The guy in the leather "jock" jacket doesn't even look like he's a singer...he looks like he just got invited to be in the group cause another member asked him to.

"I wish I were there to tell him not to get out of the car, but to turn around… right back to Harlem and pretend like he never agreed to be on this song."

    AND

"If I haven’t said enough, the girls are RUNNING from these clowns by the end of this shit!"

    Hilarious.

  • How much Sizzurp did J.R. have to drink to make this shit sound good enough to spit to. Dipset stock is plummeting. With a name like Ment 2 B, you are setting yourself up for failure. I could forgive if these dudes had good voices or some kind of style, but they have neither. These losers are like a low budget Silk, we can call these dudes Burlap. How many R. Kelly songs and concepts can you jack in one song. Kells should piss on these niggas next time he sees them.

  • Hey that sh*t was bullsh*t. You guys really need to check out the Real Meant2B who are located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma(correct spelling of the realiest R & B group)not Ment-2b who was boo boo. They are the real deal, and I put that on everything. They are legit and real R & B singers and got it going on. The website is meant2bmusic.com

  • You know, I look at it like a bunch of wanna be critics on here!!! Now if these guys were in the streets ya'll would still be talkin about them. Everybody has to pay their dues. If all you can do is talk about how bad it is offer some advice, give feedback instead of all this stupid lip service that really makes no sense when you each go back over your comments. I've seen people with video's like this before and no one has any thing bad to say. Omarion did touch outside, so don't tell me he couldn't afford a tight scene. His brother M.H. did his video outside next to a dumb alley tellin the same girl that it was all because of her. So my comment is back up and give these bruh's some room because when they blow up you'll be in the way!!!! HATA's

  • LMAO, One of them niggas had on a dress coat with a hoodie underneath. I couldn't tell if this was a throwback or a new video but then I seen shorty from Omarion's video. My nigga had on his high school jacket from 10 years ago on in the video still sporting the greasy jheri curl. My temple's hurt from hearing "wassup wassup" so many times. I dont even remember anything but "wassup wassup" being said. All the broads in that video were garbage too. Nothing good camde out of it and I want my 3 minutes back.
