Ghetto Bill has reached yet another milestone in an already stellar career as a rap entertainer and mogul. He has become the first repeat offender in Talkin’ Videos history. If he continues, he can be the Rafael Palmiero of this shit.
Remaking the LL Cool J classic “I Need Love,” Master P looks no further than the fruit of his own loins (Lil Romeo) to aid him in butchering a piece of hip-hop history with the new single “I Need Dubs.” [watch it now]
Percy and Romey tag team “I Need Dubs” in similar fashion to their weekly collaboration on Nickelodeon. The video is highly contrived and neither of the two ever look comfortable in front of a camera.
Romeo needs to put that shirt back on… lookin like Morris Peterson.
Speaking of NBA players… What is Sacramento Kings summer-league guard Master P doing with his hair? I just can’t get over his dreads. He needs to change his name from Ghetto Bill to Ghetto Scarecrow. That’s real talk, my nigga.
With that said, this is the first song I’ve enjoyed from P in a loooong time. It actually sounds like some of his Ghetto D-era shit. For an ever so slight moment, some of the mid-90s feeling came back into my body with this concept. I really wish TRU was on this instead of Romeo. Silkk's offbeat ass and C-Murder's mumbles would have complimented him perfectly on this one.
Romeo growing up is getting scary for me. He is starting to sound like an actual TRU member. Spitting lines like “Never get hawngry cuz I keep the deep dishes,” referring to Hoody Hoo (which is the code of the killers) and looking high as fuck is certainly the best way to try and make an easier transition away from Nickelodeon than Nick Cannon made (he's hilaaaaarious). Having Master P as your father also helps I guess.
However, soon Romeo will have to choose which side of the fence he wants to play. Will he be hosting the Kid’s Choice Awards or will he be in jail, like every other No Limit artist of the past? I’ll tell you what he needs to do… He needs to get a hold of Little D and reunite Lil Soldiers. The NEW TRU is shitty. They could probably do better.
Why does Master P point to his son when he says “rollin wit thugs?” Come on now! That kid is the black Ricky Schroeder. He grew up with a $700 million spoon in his ass. He don’t know nothing bout no Calliope! He probably got a train set that runs through the whole house. He got remote control underwear changers and shit. This is not a fucking thug! Yet, overtaking the #1 spot on Blastro in less than two days teaches children and potential moguls the possible advantages of whoring out your own offspring.
Since P decides to give us a 2-for-1, I’ll return the favor. On to part 2:
What P fails to realize is that the shots people take at him aren’t intended to imply that he’s going broke. I would think it impossible to land on skid row with the kind of bank P has amassed.
The problem is that he puts out corny and shitty records quite frequently. I understand that there is a place for fun records. I had tons of fun with early No Limit shit. But Romeo records, and shit like “Tight Whips” will never satisfy the fans who loved his earlier records. “Ice Cream Man,” “Ghetto D,” “I’m Bout It Soundtrack,” and the early TRU material shouldn’t be disrespected with bullshit like “Act A Fool” and “OoohWeee” aka “Live At The Universoul Circus.” 5th Ward Weebie should have been in the Lord of the Rings movies as a the only black hobbitt.
Whenever Percy does try to recreate the days before he turned his back on his fans and hardcore image, he fails miserably. Here’s a business lesson for the great P. If you forsake one market for another, especially in media, it’s not always an easy task to get that oooooold thing back. You might have to stick with the sugar cereal shit you’ve devoted your label to for the last 5 years.
With THAT said, Master P is still good for lines that confuse and amuse. “I’m on the block hustling hard like I’m black and Jamaican.” I love it! “I got cousins trynna kill each other chasin that paper.” I don’t have the energy to go into that one.
P.S.: I can never accept that group of scrubs behind P as No Limit Soldiers. R.I.P. Mac, Soulja Slim, Mystikal, Mia X, Young Bleed, Fiend, C-Murder… shit, even Mercedes and Kane & Abel. If you can, or if you need a laugh on this Monday afternoon, holler at the dude with the color-change cars and the icy rims. He in the projects posted up... like Toys 'R Us! UNNNHHHHHHHHHHH!

Shit really pissed me off on the cover of Da Last Don when that bastard tricked us into thinking that was his real hand holding the cross. That shit was so big that I began to think it was a fake as soon as I saw it... All they did was take a picture of a big hand and inserted it on top of the picture of his real hand attached to his body. I mean when you flip the cover and the hand moves, it's so fucking obvious. It would appear that his hand is broke or some shit to be able to move like that. Plus, that was probably the biggest let down of a CD ever. I mean, he was beginning to slip there towards the end of his previous rap career, and I even asked somebody if the CD was good--but it was a white kid I asked so I should've known that he would say it's a good CD just to sound like he's not your average white kid--this one here is current on good rap music--He said that CD was alright. So I bought the CD, played it once or twice, then reverted to listening to the song "Gangsta Bitch" exclusively, then not at all. I know it's a popular catch-phrase and all, but I really do think I broke some buds on this shit once or twice.
Then I heard that his business was failing and he had to sell No Limit--I don't know the specifics, but damn he sucks. The pinnacle of his career was the Intro to Ghetto Dope. And I think we can thank this bastard for introducing the chain faze--the little No Limit tank pendant--thanks to him that shit's now out of hand and people snatching chains like bummin a quarter for a coke.

Knowledge- I love the fact that you started bumping "Gangsta Bitch" exclusively after a couple of listens... I did the same thing. As much as I miss Ghetto D era P, it's not the worst idea to mature as you get older and have kids. The problem is that he still does the wack street track every time. I think those songs are more corny than his ode to rims (how original).
