Loose Cannon - "Who Do U Think U R?"

This is easily one of the most aptly titled videos we’ve discussed so far. Street-level up-and-comer Loose Cannon presents his new video “Who Do U Think U R” [watch it now]
From the first frame, before hearing the vocal sample chorus, I immediately pondered the song’s title (in regards to the artist). My first thought was: Why is there a gym teacher talking tough in front of a video camera?
Early in the track, he refers to people saying he sounds like other rappers, but complains that they are merely haters who are angry that he doesn’t sound like them. I don’t want to go into who he sounds like, but he LOOKS like Deebo with some fake Ray-Bans on.
Okay, fuck it. He sounds like Benzino. When he tries to sing out a few lines, he sounds like a sorry sorry excuse for DMX.
Note: About 27 seconds into the video, you can see one of his non-gangsta entourage members grinding on another member in the posse shot (both dudes).
I feel his overall message. It’s a challenge to rappers higher up in the game in terms of finances and popularity to examine what they are projecting to the fans. I find the message to the fan base important. However, he himself seems to get it twisted. After complaining that rappers talk too much in the way of violence and make-believe-stuntin, he spends most of his video in front of a Jaguar and drops violent lines such as “I’mma go Columbine on ‘em.”
I mean… who does this confused nigga think he is? Who’s Jaguar is he rubbing his ass on? Does he really think he’s stuntin in the drop top GEO with the cereal-box sunglasses?
Of course, this is an Un-Cut type of video. It’s cheaply shot and poorly made, but if you want to laugh at someone today, this is the one we provide for you. I defend him on the only point he made that he didn’t contradict in some way. His message about the fan base is pertinent. The fans have more power than these rappers that run around acting invincible on The Negro Channel. Hopefully, in the near future, we as consumers can learn to take more responsibility for what we allow to be handed to us by the mass media outlets we seem to rely on.

this video sucks ass...the beat kinda sounds like tha fuckin macarena..and you can see the damn camera men in some of the scenes..okay i have to admit this guy has no talent..who the fuck gave this man a record deal..dont mean to be a hater but the truth hurts almost as bad as it hurt me to hear this video

The video is hot...I agree with you about the fanbase message, but I didn't hear where he was preaching against the gangsta aspect or with rappers having money. What he was goin' after was cats who get the money and forget where they're from. So you see him with the cash and the cars, but where's he at? Right with his people around the way so to me it doesnt seem contradictory. To each his own tho...

I like the video but let's be fo real on this Cannon can't rap Got u lyin tryin dyin come on know. U were better on Nickelodeon. Man give it up. Maybe moms' shouldn't have made a sacrifise.The only reason I like the video, is because the gurl who played the mom of Cannon looked hopeless funny yeah.

Oh shit...This is the same Loose Cannon that was down with DMX..He's been on a couple of X's albums.. X never put none of those Bloodline artists on..Good 2 see him still doing his thing..
