Don Omar feat. NORE, Fat Joe & LDA - "Reggaeton Latino (Remix)"

Posted on July 27, 2005 1:42 PM

Es Reggaeton Latiiiiiiiinoooooooo!

donomar-tego.jpg

(Tego Calderon sold separately)
Don Omar lays down the infectious chorus for Reggaeton Latino, [watch it now] the leadoff single of "The Chosen Few", a compilation LP geared to bridge the gap between the Latino rappers of the U.S. and Reggaeton artists worldwide. Is the United States ready for the booty-shaking invasion? NORE and Fat Joe join Don Omar and LDA in an attempt to answer this burning question.

For a low budget video, it is well shot and apparently someone spent a lot of time in the editing room with hours upon hours of stock footage. The viewer is bombarded with all kinds of imagery from poor Dominican children in the streets, to wealthy Argentinians saluting Juan Peron, to Che Guevara, to Pele.

Strangely enough, with all of the revolutionary imagery and shots of many facets of Latin American culture, Reggaeton only appears to properly represent ass-shaking. With the shots of Che Guevara and other great Latin Americans of the past your spirit gets riled up, only to listen to lyrics about drugging and dance-floor sex (if you understand Spanish). NORE does a NORE, except it’s in Spanish… which actually sounds much better. Fat Joe’s attempt at Spanglish is commendable. When your Spanish is that poor, all you probably CAN say is that shorties like to rub up on the fat guy and smoke weed. Wait… that’s what he says in English too… nevermind.

This song and video combination definitely gets your spirits up and if you can’t dance to this, you need a soul. However, if you understood what was being said, in conjunction with what you were watching, you’d feel strange. Not that this music is any different from most Jamaican dancehall reggae or what sells in American rap, but easily 99% of Reggaeton songs I’ve heard have been almost exclusively about sex, from El General to the present. I know my Latinos love sex, and understand what’s important in life, but I think Reggaeton would find a little more respect in the U.S. and on a global scale if it gave its listeners a little more credit and broadened the subject matter.

Look at Don Omar at the end… He looks like he just gave a speech for the Socialist party. He has a look in his eyes like he just did some Che Guevara shit. He probably just got finished yelling “Mami, muevete. Mami, por favor chupa mis huevos! Mami mami te queiro!” For 45 minutes. I’m sure y’all have more to say than that. The cleverly edited stock footage in this video is testament.

  • When I'm on the dance floor bumpin and grindin, the only thing I give a fuck about is that soft female ass pressed up against me and the music. Reggaeton is dance music and rightfully so includes more than a few sex references. Being drunk and high is also part of the dance scene so act like you know! Latin pride is the reason behind the stock footage--the only ones representing American pride right now are oversees shooting and getting shot.

  • One time I was sexin Core Crit's mom real good. I had just popped all the blisters on my dick that his sister had given me, now I'm stickin that shit straight into his mom's pussy and she was loving that shit...she was sloppery wet and her juices was gettin into my open sores on my dick and was burning me man. I kept on poppin that coochie real hard and I noticed everytime I slammed my dick in that wet pussy, her asshole would stretch just a little bit and I could see a turd about to plop out. That shit just made me wilder. I felt like I was gonna bust, so I did, then I made her put my cum-stained blistered dick in her mouth and she sucked it clean until it started to grow again. By now, the turd was about half way out so I broke it off and smeared it in that bitch's face then pushed the rest of the shit in with my dick. Damn I ain't ever had Jamaican ass like that before. Normally I kill them bitches first, but I let this one live, I just made sure to give her all my venereal diseases. Then what the fuck you know, 9 months later she had some snot-nosed, dirty-haired little Jamaican baby. I pissed on the baby a few times and even rubbed it's nose in its dirty diapers a few times. When the baby got bigger I tought him to suck on the balls real gently--now they call that baby Core Crit and he's gay.

  • For all you blacks or jamaican whining about how latinos stole reggae and popularized reggaeton--you guys are lame and scared of something new. What about rock? Didn't white people steal that away? Nowadays if a black or latino tries to bump rock they look like wannabe whites, and that my friends is sad, especially for African Americans. Do you guys know of any white people who bump to any black hardcore metal bands. Not much huh. In fact there isn't even a market for African rockers. The only way rock is in rap if its in a break that a dj found. Walk This Way by Run DMC and Aerosmith was a success, but has there been any other rap/rock song that sounded nearly as good as that, none in my opinion.
Reggaeton could be just a fad, but the latino community is yearning for its own US mainstream music. This could be it, and sorry to you jamaicans Mon, but thats just the way it is, because besides the marley bros. and bobs legacy, reggae is declining. Reggae needs a boost, and this is it. Personally, I don't like the heavy accents of reggae artists on top of hip hop beats and vice versa, its horrible and boring in my opinion. But I am not an elitist and think my music is the best. Reggaeton is dance music and if the latin girls like it then we men eventually will have to like it.
If musicians are truly artists, then they probably love the idea of reggae expanding its horizon to a new genre of music called Reggaeton.
As a Mexican I love Reggaeton because I don't like to listen to that corny-polka-sounding music that is popular in my culture, and the spanish rock is just a copycat of US rock, but I don't hate it. As a dj I will promote it as much as possible, so I can get a piece of the pie (money), because I know latinos buy anything, we are great consumers!

  • Let me say first I do not like reggaeton in the least. I would rather listen to country, at least I can understand it. That being said this video was like a damn reggaeton propaganda film, if you turn it off Tego Calderon and the latin gestapo will come and take you away in the middle of the night. NORE looked like Riddick Bowe, flabby and sick. He needs his ass whipped for letting this shit hit the mainstream. All of a sudden NORE is emphasisizing his Latin heritage like he has no black in him. his first two albums had a little spanish and no spanish choruses. Now I can hear more english from a Celia Cruz album. Don't get it twisted i love latin people (especially the women), but this ain't hittin on shit. Don Omar caterwaulin is not my idea of entertainment. Joe Crack stay in your lane your spanish sounded coached and heavliy rehearsed, and he was wearing a Big Pun shirt. What nerve, he always sceaming Big Pun forever, then feed his family, sell that fuckin Jumpman/Pun chain and buy his widow and seeds a house (on your block)! In time this shit will fade and songs like Gasolina will be mentioned in the same breath as the Macarena.

You fucked up ass that is your culture and you should be fucking proud of it.
and JML5150 no way can you compare Gasolina to the Macarena. Macarena was made popular because some corny ass white people thought it would cute to play that stupid ass song at every wedding and birthday and shit. I'm mexican and I know alot of other mexicans who really like reggaeton. It ain't going nowhere. Its gonna be here for a long time. I would much rather listen to reggaeton than to ever listen to that Jamacian shit. Sorry but thats how I feel.

  • August 4, 2005 9:17 PM
  • Ron Mexico says...
  • Unlike many, yes, I do.

I believe that the primary difference between reggaeton and reggae is language spoken.

They all come from carribean roots, which, in turn are african roots.

Mainstream reggaeton is primarily one-sided just like mainstream reggae and dancehall are one-sided. If you delve deeper in either genre, you can find a greater variety of subject matter. This goes for any type of music or art that is commercialized.

Since I speak spanish, I fucks with both. But my complaints for both are the same.

I love reggaeton, but i cant stand it when i buy a CD and all the songs sound the same. They are tite as hell when they have that background merengue or salsa rythmn, thas my shit for real. Im mixed Dominican and Mex, so im always lovin that merenuge or cumbia.

  • Wuts up lil'vato, dont get me wrong, i do like reggaeton. I jus dont like too much music from like Luny Tunes y Noriega, they not even all that. Don Omar, Tego, Nicky Jam, Daddy Yankee, Big Boy, and Alberto Stylee all make good reggaeton, i buy their music. Its good party music, pa que las rucitas se mueven, u know wut i mean. Since im only 15, i cant really go to many clubs, so i throw lots of house partys, so i always got reggaeton jus in case.
I dont listen to a lot of latin rap cuz its not that big where i live, so i never heard of Lil Rob or Mr Sancho until like 2 yrs ago when we went to Texas to visit family. but they are pretty cool, They finally got Lil Rob song on the radio, that "Summer Nights". But i listen Aventura, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, Reggaeton, Tejano, rap, and wuteva else is cool. Some rock is aiighet, but i wouldnt spend money on rock music. holla

I heard of people like chingo bling and shit like that tho. U know how for a long time that Jamaican dude was talkin shit bout how reggaeton is really reggae and that we jus stole their music, im not surprised that he's talkin shit, cuz like i met a Hawaiien family that say Bachata is theirs and, of course, Haitans try and claim our merengue. But its all good, cuz latino people can take any influence of any music style and make it better.

  • I don't care who read this and if anyone has a problem let me know! One thing I realize about reggaeton music is that those artist who sing it have a lot of heart in there music, and passion for what they sing. There message in there music truly comes from what they've seen and what they were force to grow up in. Like reggae this music has a way of moving people.
Unlike today's rap music, it sounds all fake and they place the money before there heart in there music, that is why a alot of them don't last! A true rap artist like NAS who raps without all of the bullshit, tupac or DMX in his first and second album. These guys I'm sure didn't place there love for the money before there love of the music and there message they felt they had to get across. Most rappers today are completely full of bullshit. Too commerical. Not real. I bet if for those haters who have girlfriend, let them hear the remix of don omar, nore and fat joe and watch them shack there ass to it. ha ha ha. Reggaeton involves more than the US, it has gone to Puerto Rico,Dominican republic, Cuba, Central America and South America even on the west coast for the true mexican fans. A music for the latinos all hispanic across the broad and even those who have the heart to love music outside of what you listen to. For all you haters get a life.

  • TheTruth says...
  • Before I start writing about reggaeton, I wanna say that I'm latino and I live in the Bronx. And yeah being latino sometimes means that every other latino expects you to follow and listen to all the dumb shit that latinos make. I don't like reggaeton, I never will like reggaeton. I liked it when it was called DANCEHALL before some no talent having lamer decided to chant in spanish and jack a beat thats 15 years old. People who come in here talking stupidies about dancehall should really go back a few years and realize thaif it wasn't for dancehall there wouldn't be that garbage reggaeton.
I don't give 2 fucks if I'm latino and I don't like the typical shit...garbage is garbage! And reggaton is garbage. You're not gonna argue with me about reggaeton and dancehall because some of you ignorant cats in here talking shit about reggae or dancehall don't know the first thing about music.
The REAL story behind reggaeton is that it was BORN IN PANAMA! YESSSSSSS the truh hurts ricans! Reggae was brought to Panama by Jamaican migrant works who went to work at the Panama Canal. As time passed local dj's started to play it and a lot of panamanians embraced it and someone decided to chant in spanish over a reggae song and VOILA! we have SPANISH REGGAE! Than the new genre started to invade latin america and thats where it went to puerto rico and ricans started to do the same but by then dancehall had been born and they started to do dancehall instead of reggae (YES there is a difference in dancehall and reggae)and ever since than the people who make the beats for reaggaeton HAVE NOT changed the beat for over 15 years. It's basically the same beat in every song, same lyrics in every song, you heard one you heard them all. Anyone bothered by these facts please do your research.
You are not gonna lie to me and tell me that this garbage is hot when I know for a fact that reggaeton straight up jacked dancehall and hip hop. How? well first of all the word REGGAE is in REGGAEton, so where does reggae come from? not santo domingo or puerto rico..it comes from the slums of JAMAICA!!!! if you know the history of Reggae itself you would know what I'm talking about, and if it wasn't for Ska music there wouldn't be no reggae. So after reggae something called DANCEHALL spawns out of it!
Reggaeton also jacked hip hop for the way they dress, the way they want to talk. It copied the extravagant jewelery wearing like in commercial hip hop, even though it's fake they still wear it and they even took the word that goes with it "Bling bling"
They want to fron taht they have money, cars, and live this lifestyle that was all invented in commercial hip hop. So when some idiot comes in here and dare to compare hip hop with reggaeton it's really their ignorance taklking. So to me when a lot of these sheeps want to follow something thats "hot" it makes me laugh becase whatever goes up, MUST come down. Yeah reggaeton will not dissapear into obscurity, but I can guarantee you and I can even place a bet on it..that it'll go back to the underground. Why? Well becausereghgaeton and it's artists, producers, managers, and publicists are digging their own grave. First off..they use the same beat for every songe..THE SAME BEAT that was used by danehall artist 15 years ago, 2)they talk about the same dumb shit in every song, people get bored of listening to the same type of music. Right now a lot of clubs are playing it, cats are going on tiours, they're doing collabos with rappers, and what have you..but at the end of the day..we all know that reggaeton will never be dominate mainstream America because the %99 of people who listen to it are latinos. NOT blacks, NOT whites, and if you can't capture that audience in America..you're not going anywhere. Yes "Daddy Yankee" might have sold 1.5 million in like 2 years but he will never top mainstream rappers or even himself.
Brothers aren't really driving around the Escalade pumping Daddy Yankee or reggaeton! Whites aren't crazy about getting the next reggaeton album. Yeah you may have seen a few blacks and whites listening to it but that's the %1 missing in the %99 of reggaeton listeners.
And even a lot of latinos don't listen to reggaeton, most young, naive latinos are the ones buying into that shit. But than you have latinos shoving this shit down our throats like we HAVE to like reggaeton...NO I DON'T HAVE TO LIKE SHIT!
Even if it hurts some people in this forum..yes reggaeton will go back into the underground. Thats that! I know! It happened to disco, freestyle, techno, salsa, and many other genres that hit a peak! No matter what you say, no matter if you curse me out or you want to "support" reggaeton. Reggaeton will see it's last days soon, and a lot of you cats who come here trying to flex muscle and defend this garbage..really you need to realize the truth and face the truth! History has a way of repeating itself. Give reggaeton about a year or two..something around there...after that..even the lamers that come in here defending will throw away their daddy yankee cd. Mandatory end of the story!

  • Yuh knoo, Core Crit...

This would have NEVAH got on a negative note if yuh hadn't thought you was TOO COOL for the rest of the world. Dancehall is NOT Reggae, a lot of it is MURDA MUSIK and goes COMPLETELY AGAINST Reggae and its message of gentle resistance. Like Bunny Wailer, I do not believe that the trash yuh pickney move to is even REMOTELY related to the Reggae that WE OLDER JAMAICANS made popular and intanashinal. In fact, it seems like these days it is DANCEHALL that is getting BANNED from this country and that country. So you can express a lack of solidarity wit Latino bredren who are all around us, but let that be solely YOUR opinion. All us REAL Jahmaicans don't share in that divisive talk. Unless there is an earthquake strong enough tamarah ta separate the islands, they will always be our neighbours... and there is nutting wrong wit borrowing a cup of sugah every now and then. • The fact of the matter is, music plays a great role in our culture no matter where you come from. I display no hate in my own culture nor the culture of others. Music is a form of expression, a way of releasing yourself through hip-hop, r&b, reggae, latin music etc....just like hip-hop it changes in it's style but it is still hip-hop, with reaggeton it is part of the latin culture whether you choose to expect or not. you are just 1 out of 1.5 million.
And to most you truly don't matter. Reggaeton has been able open the doors to not just one culture, but it has been able to spread from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Central and South America. The one time I've really notice any music to capture so many at the fast pace that it did. Yeah it may change who knows. But like any other cd you buy, you listen to it and by yourself a new one the next day. Music is music a form of expression. And by the way you have no idea, just keep your mouth shut a about salsa. My guess is that you are either gay or completely fake in who you are and what you stand for.

  • To answer a bunch of you...

First of all....dancehall IS reggae. Its a dancehall form of reggae and is inluenced by reggae and hip hop. The same as soca is short for soul calypso....its a branching off....like how rivers have tributaries. Anyway...for my main point, the ignorance stops here. For those who may not know, reggaeton is still jamaican based. Reggaeton was created by panamanians. Many black pananmanians have jamaican heritage becasue they were shipped over from jamaica when it was time to build the canal. Therefore nobody can say anyone stopel anyone's music. And for the irate jamaicans...just remember that reggae comes from ska. Ska comes from jazz. Jazz has many afro-cuban roots. So basically the music is just coming full circle. Whats with the big nationality issue anyway. In teh caribbean we are all one people. I personally am afro-cubano and jamaican.

Oh and also...ska couldnt have come about without teh invention of the steel pan that coems from trinidad. Im jamaican but i know how to give credit where credit is due. Stop behaving like idiots. All this bickering among people of differnt nationalities but similar ethnicities (many of us are black...wheterh we be dominican, cuban, puerto rican, jamaican, trinidadian, tobagoan...antiguan...whatever). fuck teh language you speak....you should be cbonded by that at least...if not race, then be bonded by being part of teh caribbean...iespecially hate teh english speakin blacks vs. spanish speakin black thing...ur deriving your identity from teh language of teh people who enslaved your people...realistically we all coem fromteh congo in a frica and however hard it may be to believe.....a lot of jamaicans and puerto ricans are distant cosuins...

  • There is hardly any difference between reggae and reggaeton, so those people who prefer one over the other must do so because of language and culture.

Anyway, we are all one Caribbean people. I like listening to Caribbean music, from reggae, calypso, soca, salsa, merengue, and now reggaeton. All have borrowed from one another in the past and will continue to do so. In fact, reggaeton's beat that many of you are dancing to is called "dembow", a dancehall rhythm created for Jamaican star Shabba Ranks back in the 1990's.

So go out and enjoy and quit the arguing.

  • Look, let's just be thankful that we share a common ancestrial bond (whether we're Latino/Afro-Latino, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-American, etc) that has blessed our various sub-cultures with a heightened sensitivity to rhythm. The music that we create reverberates around the world. Realize it, the entire world watches you with awe. It is remarkable that virtually every music genre that we create eventually spreads to achieve a world wide fan base. Please, my fellow youth, do not argue with one another about something so trivial. Let our music variety foster unity, not division. The music is all one! Reggae, reggaeton, hip-hop, soul, gospel, soca, original rock, afro-pop, blues, jazz ... it's all great music (ever evolving and adapting and influencing). Have pride in that. I'm looking forward to the music we create that will evolve 10 .. 20 years from now. As it always has, it will surely be original, creative, and rhythmic.

On the original topic, I thought the video was cool.

  • you all talk about "latin pride", but i doubt any of you know where the word "latin" comes from.
i am Romanian (as in 100% European) and i have more latin blood than all of you ever will. i am not saying this like it's a good or a bad thing; i only want to make this "latino, latin, latina" shit to stop.
Do you people know that the true "LATINS" lived in Rome (Italy)? And that Italians, Spaniards (as in from Spain), Portuguese, French and Romanians are TRUE LATINS.
Reggaeton rocks but i hate all this shit about "latin pride".
Talk about ~pre-colombian native pride~ not about that

Be proud that you are Dominicans or Puerto Ricans (you have things to be proud of,every country has), not that you are Latins, because you're not
Don't believe me, go back to history class
PS:i do understand some Spanish because the language is similar

  • I came across this page by accident, and as I'm reading all this stuff I'm thinking, do some of these people see how ingnorant and stupid they sound. First off, if you ask the Reggaeton artists in Puerto Rico, they all give credit to Reggae and Jamaica, and agree that that's where Reggaeton got it's origin, don't mix the 2 up, they are each their own genre, and if you do your homework, Reggaeton originated in Pananma, but Purto Rico gave it the flavor it has today. Second where do you think the Spanish language came from? From the original Latin. Most of the languages in Europe came from Latin, that's why they all have similarities, and since all of Central and most of South America speak Spanish or another LATIN language, that's why we can say we are LATINO. Another thing, where do you think the Spaniards (as in from SPAIN)went to colonize? Central and South America, so we all somehow have SPANIARD blood. Maybe you should go back to history class and look at where other cultures derived from and not just where your own came from. To end this I want to say that this is the reason we have soooo many problems in this world, because we are always trying to point out each other's flaws instead of accepting what everyone brings to the table. Diversity is a beautiful thing, just think of how boring it would be if we were all the same.

  • Yo, it doesn't really matter. Reggae and Reggeaton are equally hot forms of music. Right now, reggeaton is blowing up, pero don't forget, there are still plenty of Reggae artists out there doing there thing too. Just look at Sean Paul and Elephant Man (though Elephant Man is kind of corny) I think that it's silly to be arguing over things like music. Music helps people express their feelings, so who cares if a genre is similar to another, or not. Besides, Reggeaton and Reggae are brother-genres of music, just like all us carribean islanders.

  • Aight a lot goin down here ... I'm juss some white chick that loves to dance so how the fuk i got in this board i duno but since some brawl bout to go down ima butt in-Reggae (dancehall) is the classic..reggae's been around forever.. and just a few years ago made its boom in the U.S. with Sean Paul, Mr. Vegas, Elephant Man and Beenie. Reggaeton is doin a similar cycle here. Props to the artists who have an entire genre like reggae to compete against and look how far they've come. Now I DO have to admit one thing-they gota start comin out with new shit .. all dem songs have that same rhythm so my advice? Change it up a bit so it can stay longer--otherwise we're juss lookin at another onehitwonder kinda thing ... but yea the 2 genres should be discussed separately..yeah, they may sound similar but you got everyone doin reggaeton now (including the reggae veterans!)... the same way that all hiphop pples were doin reggae when it was big. Now Sean Paul got We Be Burnin goin crazy in clubs so Im feelin reggae comin bak .. unless reggaeton has some surprises in store .... Whatever happened to hiphop? lol

  • Its real funny to see the black vs. latino thing sometimes on this board. I know it isnt a laregly known or publicized fact, but there are MANY people of african descent all over latin america. Read up on black's in mexico by bobby vaughn (google it) in Vera Cruz and other areas. Also the blacks in panama, colobmia (the chocos), and a bunch of other stuff. Black people are as much a part of latino culture in latin america, as they are of american culture in the US, its just that the face of latin culture is rarely black (except in sports like baseball and the olympics). in the words of a Tego the black puerto rican: "Tengo Orgullo Por Mi Negruda!" -> "I am proud of my blackness"

  • JAZE YOU ARE RIGHT. REGGAETON WAS CREATED IN PANAMA FROM THE JAMAICANS THAT BROUGHT THE REGGAE THERE. BUT WHAT THE PEOPLE DON'T REALLY HEAR IS THE REAL REGGAETON FROM PANAMA BECAUSE THE PANAMANIANS ARE BEING HELD DOWN BY THE PUERTO RICANS BECAUSE THEY HAVE CLAIMED IT AS THEIR OWN SO IT'S VERY DIFFICULT FOR THE PANAS TO GET IN THE INDUSTRY IN THE USA. ALSO IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW, THE DEMBOW RHYTHM WAS ALREADY ON DIFFERENT LATIN MUSIC IN PANAMA SUCH AS TYPICO AND COMPARSA, VERY CLOSE TO SALSA. YOU CAN SEE WHY PANAMANIANS AND JAMAICANS ARE PISSED OFF. YOU CANNOT TAKE MUSIC FROM SOMEONE'S CULTURE AND CALL IT YOUR OWN. THAT IS LIKE COLUMBUS DISCOVERING AMERICA WHEN THE NATIVES WERE ALREADY HERE. REGGAETON CANNOT BE EQUAL TO DANCEHALL BECAUSE IT IS ONLY ONE PART OF DANCEHALL. IN A BATTLE OF REGGAETON AND DANCEHALL ARTISTS, WHO WOULD WIN? SUPPOSE DADDY YANKEE FACED BOUNTY KILLA, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. SEE THESE LITTLE, UNSCHOOLED CHILDREN COMMENTING ON THIS SIGHT DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. ALL THEY HEAR IS THE DAMN DEMBOW BEAT ACCENTED BY DIFFERENT FILLS AND DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND THE TRANSLATION OF WHAT A DEMBOW IS THAT CAME OUT OF PANAMA(THE WORD, NOT THE BEAT). I GUARANTEE THAT IF ANYONE OF THOSE PUERTO RICAN(SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST IN REGGAETON) ARTISTS GOES UP AGAINST ELEPHANT MAN, THEY WILL GET THEIR ASSES HANDED TO THEM REAL QUICK. YOU CANNOT TAKE SOMETHING FROM THE MASTERS OF THE MUSIC AND EXPECT FOR NOTHING TO HAPPEN. THE PANAMANIANS AND JAMAICANS WILL PUT THESE KIDS IN THERE PLACE.
YA SEE, I AM 100% PANAMANIAN AND I DO ALL KINDS OF LATIN MUSIC, REGGAETON, AND DANCEHALL, AND I KNOW THAT VERY SOON, THE SHIT IS GONNA HIT THE FAN BECAUSE THE PANAMANIANS AND JAMAICANS ARE WORKING TOGETHER AND WILL RELEASE THEIR OWN REGGAETON AND SHOW EVERYONE WHOSE WHO. THIS WILL COME OUT ON VP. ALMOST EVERY ARTIST THAT I KNOW HAS HAD THE DOOR CLOSED BY THE LATINO A&R EXECS AS SOON AS THEY FIND OUT THAT THEY ARE PANAMANIAN. THIS HAPPENED AT MANY RECORD LABELS. THEY WOULD LISTEN TO THE MUSIC AND LIKE IT, BUT WHEN THEY FIND OUT THAT THE ARTIST IS FROM PANAMA, THEY WOULD TELL THEM TO LEAVE AND SAY THAT THEIR MUSIC WILL NEVER MAKE IT. HOW THE HELL CAN THAT BE WHEN WE INVENTED THE DAMN MUSIC. IT'S FEAR THAT WE WILL TAKE OUR RIGHTFUL PLACE. THESE REGGAETON ARTISTS HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED. THEY ARE AFRAID THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO WORK HARDER AND REALLY FIGHT TO STAY AT THE TOP. THAT'S WHY YOU ALWAYS HEAR OF THE SAME GARBAGE GUYS LIKE DADDY YANKEE AND DON OMAR. AND FOR THE PERSON WHO MENTIONED THAT ELEPHANT MAN AND DANCEHALL ARTISTS HAVE CORNY LYRICS AND DANCES, WHAT THE HELL IS SINGING ABOUT GASOLINE? THAT IS A CONTRADICTION IF I'VE EVER HEARD ONE. DADDY YANKEE EVEN WENT AS FAR AS TRYING TO CHANGE WHAT WE CALLED "THE INJECTION" TO A THEME ABOUT GASOLINE. BEFORE YOU GET ON THE ONE BOY HERE, YOU MUST KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE THIS RUDE ONE WILL MAKE YOU LOOK STUPID FOR SURE.

  • Man, both Daddy Yankee and Don Omar are straight up garbage. They don't spit out lyrics. All they do is say the same shit in all their songs. If I had to pick who is better, I would probably pick Daddy Yankee because Don Omar cries too damn much on the mic and can't sing worth a damn. But aside from all that, listen to what they say in the songs especially "Gassolina." Count how many times that Doo-Doo ass says the chorus. It is a shame that people actually think that saying the same shit throughout an entire song 40times is great. These cats have no lyrical arsenal. If you were to separate the beat and the acapella, you would understand that if a song is writing in such a great structure, it doesn't matter what beat it's on, the song will be hot. I know that the girls like his little gay looking ass, but this is the real shit. As far as being the king of Reggaeton, hell Mickie Perfecto was doing that shit before Daddy Yankee came out. If you don't know who Mickie is, then you don't really know about Reggaeton. See Mickie isn't marketed like Daddy Yankee is but if you compared Mickie with Yankee, Mickie is all around better hands down. I actually give Mickie respect because he does spit lyrics and he can sing in both languages. See it's not that I don't like Puerto Ricans because Mickie is from Puerto Rico. It's that the artists at the top of the reggaeton industry, happen to be Puerto Ricans, do not give the respect and the chance for many unknown great artists to get heard because they have the labels, connections and there own little click.
I can name some more, but you've probably never heard of them.
